I am at work so cannot currently try repairing my router firmware/settings. But IMO this is not what needs to happen.
The launcher is not needed. The last crucible patch worked just fine, the game ran fine, everything was kosher all your customers were happy.
somebody decided that a launcher was needed. why? None of your players seem to need a launcher as the game was running just fine.
Get rid of the launcher, go back to the way it worked before because... well IT WORKED!
As somebody else mentioned in this thread: "what if I do not have any IT skills" There are many players out there who have no technical skills and they just want to click and play like they would any other game out there on the market.
Roll back the launcher.
Go back to the original patch method and everyone will be back in game pewing each others pixels to death.
There is no shame in rolling back the launcher. I for one would be willing to run test on a beta launcher separately whenever you want me to until your software works. In the meantime we just want to play the game. |

If you run the repair tool, what happens? If the game doesn't start after you click play it is most likely because the client doesn't have all the files it needs to start.

I had the same problem with the launcher getting to 15 or 25% and restarting. My problem is described here https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=943913#post943913
Here is what I did ...
I follwed this advice:
Accipitradea wrote:Femaref wrote:Accipitradea: make your ssh tunnel listen on localhost:26000, pipe it forward on an open port, and the other side on your server pipes it back to eve-server:26000. I'm not using an ssh tunnel; just changing the local outbound port to circumvent the firewall and changing it back on my own firewall elsewhere. Thanks for the advice, but my set up simpler because I'm not tunneling, just PATing. Samantha Utama wrote:ok, quick/temporary fix if you are unable to log in at all, so that you can tend to your empty skill queues:
I managed to get it working by creating the shortcut to the ExeFile.exe found in /bin folder with the /server:127.0.0.1 parameter.
Be warned tho, this resets all your settings to default, but I didn't mind that much. Also there's a console window like some sort of logServer.
This seems to bypass the LauncherGäó completely so you'll have to update your client via the launcher first.
Hope CCP doesn't disable this now :V Ah ha! This is what I needed, because this allows me to bypass the launcher entirely. You make a good point that your settings will get reset, but if this matters, you can copy the /user/AppData/Local/CCP/EVE/c_programfiles_(x86)_ccp_eve_Tranquility files into the new user/AppData/Local/CCP/EVE/c_programfiles_(x86)_ccp_eve_127.0.0.1 directory that will be created after your first attempt to log on. That's where I had to go back and set the prefs.ini file port value. Now I can connect without using the god-forsaken Launcher at all, just like I could last week. Though I'll probably have to use it to patch, then quit, then use my direct launch.
That allowed me to get into the game, well the login screen, but not to actually log in (because the newest patch was not installed).
I then exited the game and went back in using the launcher again, and this time the patch downloaded and installed properly! I can now play the game!
Maybe it perhaps has something to do with it resetting all your settings to default? |

Hey guys,
Seems everyone has an issue with this launcher, but no one says anything about something i've experience and prevents me from runing eve client.
when i try to launch the game from desktop shortcut, i get a pop-up message *Unsupported 16-Bit Application* (as title) with the following message
"The program or feature "\??\D:\Games\EvE\launcher\launcher.exe" cannot start or run due to incompatibility with 64-bit versions of Windows. Please contact the software vendor to as if a 64-bit windows compatible version is available"
what's the catch? |

Hi CCP Dev,
I sat with the same launcher loop last night. Launcher starts updating up to 25% and then start over and over etc.
The solution was. I downloaded the patch manually and used you Launcher`s import function to manually import the update. After that everything worked perfectly.
You released a new patch and I am back to the Launcher/update loop. Can you guys give me a link to the patch so I can download and manually import it please. This should solve the problem.
Just an suggestion. While you guys are still sorting out some of the bugs, which is understandable, give us the option to import manually.
Thanks in advance |

I have just recently re-subscribed to EVE (earlier this month) and even bought a PLEX to help me out with ISK issues since I've been away for quite a while. Everything is fine up until last Wednesday when patch was supposed to hit.
Since Wednesday, I've been unable to run anything. Prior to that, I downloaded the patch and was away at work when it was downloading. Came back home to find a window saying patch was downloaded, ran EVE, it starts patching... and then an error shows up saying it's missing a few blocks. I ran repair.exe and gets another error message.
At that time I turned to the forum for any kind of workaround solution. Tried downloading the new repair.exe - doesn't work. ESET solution doesn't matter because I don't use NOD, only MacAfee. Modifying common.ini also did not do the trick.
At the moment the launcher, the repair.exe and the EVE.exe doesn't work at all - everything gave me error messages (something about missing blocks etc). I've uninstalled EVE and am downloading the client manually since the auto-download won't work (guess what? More error).
I'm not an IT-savvy person so this issue really rankles me, being unable to find a workaround solution that would enable me to log in. Anyone with solid idea of what to do or any good suggestion other than what has been mentioned before? |

ok, it seems i was able to solve my problem.
this will be useful to some, and most likely to CCP.
i was getting the same errors and got stuck at the point as most of the people here.
it seems my ISP (Bezek in Israel) have a build-in anti virus or something called "Safenet" i called them and asked them to shut it off for my connection, after restarting the modem to connect to the new server (one not on the "safenet" thing) the launcher updated itself and the game without a problem.
since it's night here, they were working in night format and couldn't help me more then shutting it off, tomorrow i'll call them again to try and understand why and how this happens, i'll update this post after i do.
so, before you start yelling at CCP, try talking to you'r ISP and see if you are part of something similar that's blocking you on an ISP level.
though this is not CCP's fault, and people should try to relax a bit (this is a game after all), i do agree that this launcher is pointless and was just a lot of mass.
hope i helped some of you, if CCP or anyone else have any questions, ask away. |

my issue was posted on page 3 ( i think).
when 1.5 came out i had to connect my computer directly to modem. no switches or routers or servers. avg antivirus up and running. this downloaded version 1.5 no problem. when update came out yesterday launcher developed problems. today i connected cpu direct to modem and launcher updated correctly. (with antivirus and firewalls working).
i did have to do this when crucible first came out as well. |

Obviously, they think there's enough players logged in the server, and that little bunch of pittyful whiners here can be safely ignored. these subscritions are just nothing. |

I'm not having a repair tool problem or any errors showing up, when i started the launcher last night it installed a small patch, restarted and the launcher comes up, tranquility server: online 25000 + players, client is ready. great I hit play, splash screen comes up, sign in page starts and it hangs on checking status for about 15 seconds, then comes back status unknown, so unable to connect. I tried the repair tool, no problem says everything is good, i rebooted, i turned off my av, allowed ccp on my firewall, etc etc...nothing is working, just keeps telling me status is unknown. There was no problem yesterday connecting it's this latest small patch that borked it for me...not impressed. |

I downloaded the 'new' repair tool, running it gives this result:
http://pastebin.com/usn0MV8j
My PC is again left with no result or internet connection. I use avg and hav a belkin router. I connected my PC directly to my modem and still the same result.
Should I buy and new pc and move house?

look at it this way. You take your car to the mechanic for a tune up. you get new spark plugs, fluids etc. Performance will be better etc etc
Mechanic says, hey for no extra charge we'll put in this shiny new starter motor as well.
The starter motor now won't turn over the engine. Mechanic says, you should take the car to the manufacturer or talk to the the guys who sell you gas. That starter motor works on most other cars we have installed it in
would you not demand that the mechanic give you back the old starter that worked
WT
THE PREVIOUS PATCHING SYSTEM WORKED FINE what purpose does the launcher serve
I have updated my router firmware. checked security settings and logs
The software is flawed. Please roll it back and allow me to play the game I have paid for. I will work with you on fixing the launcher in a test environment
You have taken my money on patch day. Provided me with a product that no longer works. In some legal jurisdictions that would be considered fraud or theft |

Indeed. Your tool worked on my launcher, and I can now start it up again. Same problem as before though: the download creeps up to 15%, then jumps to 25%, then loops back to 0.
In other words, deleting the launcher cache and running the repair tool did not work.
There I ask again, CCP Cascade: could we please just get the patch file to manually inject it into the launcher, or are we really looking at an entire eveless weekend now? |
