Today when I started EVE - the launcher has downloaded smth and has closed then. After that not any exe file would start for longer then 1 sec. Thx God that I'm advanced user. I have found in Launcher's cache folder the installer of 1.11 launcher. Manual install saved my time - but it's another issue anyway - I think that the reason of this problem is that I use option "Only display the launcher window when there is an update".
Sorry for my English. But ""Only display the launcher window when there is an update"" - is also wrongly written imo (word "only" in wrong place) |

Ok, after trying to update with the launcher. After using the repair tool (after reboot, with the new and the old one, with eset disabled or closed -i have eset 5 btw which hasn't thet protocol filtering option...or at least i couldn't find it). I've downloaded manually the patches and imported them with the launcher (EVE_Online_350962-351477.patch).I've installed, reinstalled, used the installer, used the manual installation. I get always that same error...when i run the repair tool it says that it's ok..everyhing is fine. But when i close it it gives me an error message saying that data is corrupted. When i try to start the game it says my client is corrupted and that _PyFreeTypeP.dll is missing. Of course it advises me to run the repair tool.
I have Windows 7 64b, ESET Smart Security 5.0.95.0, and a skill queue that is empty. |

Hi all
My launcher has never worked since all this patching has been going on for the last 3 days. Every time I try to open Eve or the Eve Launcher I get this message in a box titled Exception:
"No connection could be made to the content server. Please make sure that your Internet connection is up and restart the Launcher"
Tuesday and Wednesday I just uninstalled and reinstalled fresh and I still had the same issue. Only way I could get it going was to run the EveFile from the bin folder
I have downloaded the new repair tools and today the new launcher Cascade posted but it is not working. I get the same "no connection..'' message and here is the error message I get when running the repair tool:
"No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it:" (i am only quoting that last line from the message because it won't let me post the whole message as it thinks i am trying to use code or something?)
I do not have ESET and I can still access the internet with other application. a little help? thank
I've tried several times over the past few days to send in a petition about it but I get "Something really bad happened and we are really sorry.

Alright guys, I finally found a working fix. For all of those who are experiencing the issue of getting stuck at 15% during the update process, here's a guide to bypassing it:
1. Navigate to \EvE\launcher\ directory, and delete the cache folder. 2. Download the last patches via the links provided down below (about 228 MB in total). Do NOT save them in your EvE folder, cause the patcher will then overwrite them again! Keep the files in a separate download folder until you are done. 3. Start your launcher, and click on the tool icon on the top right of the window. Switch to the "Patches" tab, and click the import button. Import the first patch, and let it apply it. When it's done, the launcher will tell you that your game is now ready to play, but it's NOT. Ignore that, proceed by importing the 2nd and eventually the 3rd patch as well. 4. After all 3 patches have been successfully imported, you can launch the game by pressing the "Play" button on the bottom right of your launcher. 5. FINALLY play eve again.
Download links for the patches: - http://www.filedropper.com/eveonline344784-349998 - http://www.filedropper.com/eveonline349998-350962 - http://www.filedropper.com/eveonline350962-351477
Thanks again, CCP, for NOT providing these patches when myself and other players have asked for them repeatedly, and made me go to places you don't wanna know about to actually get hold of them.
And now fix your fukcing client before releasing another of those moronic patches that will fukc over everyone's game AGAIN. Jesus christ.
Hope this helps all of my fellows in misery. |

Sorry to hear that. I am well aware that the procedure I posted will only fix the problem of people getting stuck at 15%. But I'm not at all surprised that there's more than just this one issue out there, and it'll probably take some of us a lot of time to resolve them (without the help and support of CCP of course). I hope that at least those who share my exact problem might find some relief in what I posted.
If you think I might be of some help with whatever other issue you've got, feel free to send me a mail and I can see if I got any other ideas, though. |

I will try this as soon as I get home. I hope they don't issue another 'small' patch over downtime or i'll be back to square one with a botched launcher.
CCP should provide us with exactly this type of service so we can manually patch when things don't work right.

I was having trouble downloading from the links you provided, so out of desperation, I just cut the patches from my eve folder and placed them on my desktop, and then followed the rest of your advice and for some reason it now works, go figure. thanks for the help. |

Why does this thread's title say there's a fix?
There may or may not have been some very minor issue with ESET for two or three players, but that's like nothing to the real issues this launcher + new client has.
What's up with the judgement when you release crap like this?
(...And Zyndells advice doesn't work because the Launcher doesn't run, just terminates.) |

I will try the above solution-currently re-installing atm-again-I'm someone who USES computers-I do NOT program them so most of the fixes you guys are talking about mean abolutly f*ck all to me! The launcher screwed up on me yesterday-the funny thing is-I have another pc sitting next to this one-using the same antivirus-I'm UK & use AVG-& its working FINE! So not my router or ISP is it? This lappy has Vista, my desktop Windows 7. So, you tell me what the problem is then? Not my end dammit! So thank f*ck for dual boxing & my deepest sympathy for those with no access at all.
So PLEASE give a simple fix for those of us who do not have an IT degree! NAOW!! |

Well CCP, I think something in your code is triggering a false positive with enterprise intrusion detection/prevention system some ISPs use. See the post from the user in Israel. The same issue is probably why ESET users need to disable a firewall feature.
My ISP probably uses a similar system. And no I have had no luck convincing them to tell me what they use.
I have a private VPN service to fall back upon, but I daresay few folk have that luxury.
I did do some quick packet captures with this patch. The client is receiving an TCP RST packet. Probably injected by the IPS system to kill the transfer.
Good luck fixing this one. I'd say check with ESET to find out what is triggering the false positive and modify the code to no longer trigger...
Not sure how else a fix might be done.

That's enough. After days troubleshooting, the client still doesn't work at all. I do not want to spend my little spare time to solve CCP technical issues. And pay for it. And, by the way, it's not a single issue, but an entire collection of different bugs. Download, graphic driver & screen resolution, program launcher, in-game issues, etc.
I just closed my subscription. Good bye. |

Also very frustrated my accounts haven't been training skills for almost 4 days now because of this bug it was known since there were posts about it when it was used on sisi i can't believe they haven't reverted the patch until they fix the problem it just seems they are posting the same 2 fixes over and over again both which don't work... my repair tool doesn't work the launcher doesn't work and when i manually patched the game launched it it says its missing _pyfreetypep.dll which after looking for it replacing it and starting again the launcher is deleting it every time i start eve.... a very pissed off and soon to quit eve player |

Today I was forced to file a petition to have my subscription fee from the 15th refunded.
This is total fail. I launched the launcher this morning. It started to patch got to step 6/7 and then hung up my network card so bad I was forced to reboot.
the X button and close button on the launcher were both greyed out so I had to try to kill it with the task manager. It shut down but my computer could not obtain an IP address.
Reboot and now I am able to post this here.
My request is that if you guys ever figure out this issue please issue a newsletter explaining so and I will try this process again.
I wish everybody here good luck in having your issues resolved but frankly I don't have the time to spend 2 hours a day messing around with IT crap when stuff like this should only be happening in the early stages of a beta test not after I have been playing since 2005.06.12 17:09
There have been minor hiccups over the years with patches. But I have never seen ongoing issues like this before.
I have about 3-4 hours a week to play and I really don't want to have to get an IT degree just to patch and log in.
The old patching system worked. The new patching system does not.
CCP please look at the petitions I filed on 11/30/2011 and 11/16/2011 for these same problems on the sisi launcher.
this is the answer I got:
Quote:Hi.
The developers are looking into why the repairtool isn't working under some circumstances, hopefully they'll have it fixed as soon as possible.
Best regards, Senior GM Retrofire EVE Online Customer Support
This is a problem that was happening on sisi and never resolved. You then proceeded to release it . Good work.

This should fix most ills but will require you to fork out some money.
Go to a VPN service provider and sign up for their cheapest plan.
Connect to VPN and run repair.exe
It should work then as this will bypass any ISP based system that is killing connections to the EVE download server.
You wil have to google for providers. I personally use Strong***.
==
I wouldn't personally call all the ills CCP's fault. There are some scenarios like this one that no amount of testing will detect.
I hope they compensate affected parties in some way in any case when they eventually fix the problem.

Hmm. Could 32-bit and 64-bit OS play a role? I have EVE installed on 3 separate computers, all running Windows 7. The biggest difference, besides the hardware used, is the OS. 2 of them are 64-bit (one is desktop Home Premium, one is laptop Professional), and the 3rd one is a desktop with 32-bit Windows 7 Professional. All are English version.
Oddly, the EVE Launcher (not sure which version is this as I checked on all 3 computers at different days and timing) did NOT have problem creating the patch and applying it to my EVE client on the 32-bit Win7. The game got patched and booted smoothly on the 32-bit OS.
However, problems occurred for the 64-bit Windows PCs. - Patching through Launcher fails and resulted in constant loop-back when "creating patch", ultimately resulting in patch failure. - Trying to use the Repair tool doesn't help at all. Keep giving "Warning: failed to add block" errors, resulting in an error.
I've tried other means like deleting the EVE directory in AppData, and I know my anti-virus aren't giving me issues (all 3 computers have different AV installed, namely AVG, McAfee and on the one that worked is MS Security Essentials). All to no avail for the 64-bit PCs. I have to download the entire 4GB client installer just to set it right. |
