It's not just a embarrassment for CCP, for EVE and all his players, it's a social disgrace someone wishes someone else to die, even provoking other people to make sure he dies.
I sincerely hope CCP does not let mitanus remain on CSM because that would send all the wrong signals.
Cyber bullying is OK? that is def. not a good signal to send, is it ?
Nothing happens if you are a psychopathic in RL? Im pretty sure something nasty would happen to him if he did this in RL in some school or corporation.
Matter if pretty simple: For CCP sake, for EVE sake and for all of us standard players sake, he must not be allowed to remain as chairman, cant be allowed in CSM where "ALL" player base is supposedly represented, and cannot be allowed to remain active in game to CCP and EVE sake.
Also: it's not the 1st time he wishes someone else to die in RL, been drunk cannot be used as a excuse, the story was on his PP.
I have faight in CCP to do the right thing, the hole industry is watching. It's not the bully's fault someone killed their self. It's the instability of the individual and you represent what is wrong with the world today. Nobody accepts responsibility for their actions, unlike Alex, who has.
So you are saying he accepted responsibility by saying he was going to step down and not do it? I guess that is what you represent then... People who say they will do something and not do it. He has not accepted responsibility until CCP decides how to deal with his actions for him IMO. What that will be, we will see. |

I don't think you get the issue here. It's that the elected chair of the players' representative council said this live to camera, in front of the world's gaming press. It's that the gaming community in EVE have a right to express disgust at his conduct. It's that we who voted for him, despite his in-game antics (which I have no issue with), feel let down.
His Goon-hood has nothing to do with it - because this wasn't an in-game thing The Mittani (player Alex Gianturco) did, it was an out of game cyberbullying attack by Alex Gianturco, who happens to play a character in-game called The Mittani.

Two things:
- He's an elected official representing thousands of players, because of this his actions are scrutinized. The fact that he's drunk does not excuse his actions.
- Imo the only reason he apologized is because of the shitstorm his comments have created, if this had not been blown out of proportion like it has he wouldn't have cared.

There are, of course, a number of problems with this.
He's shared out-of-game tears, which included information that a player was suicidal. He then invites people with the words, "Incidentally, if you wanna make the guy go kill himself, his name is The Wis. He has his own corp. Find him." None of that suggests he was speaking strickly in-game. It might have started in-game, but it moved rapidly from in-game griefing, to out-of-game bullying.
Also, and I'm sorry to say this, but he was introduced as "the guy who is fixing titans" - that's not something Mittens is doing, it's something Alex is trying to get done as a CSM policy.
The idea that somehow this was said "in-character" (something the player has said he doesn't do anyway) and that excuses it is daft, and certainly not a view not shared by the gaming press, who are the ones making hay out of this.
PR-wise CCP and / or the CSM need to make a clear break with this story, or it's going to haunt them for the next 12 months. That can't be done by explaining it was "in-character" - or at least that's a risky strategy. Far easier to cut the liability loose. |

I find his behavior shameful for the entire player base and for the game itself.
Only way to settle his is to chop his head off, must be banned from CSM and banned from the game.
There was thru eve history players banned by putting "offensive" words on they bio, by calling names to other players in game channels, how can we possibly stand for this?
Cyber bullying is not something that can be tolerated, not in game, not out of game, not anywhere. period.

You're right. That's why he might get away with not getting banned. But this isn't a "here's the hard and fast rules" situation. This is a PR problem, not a "Alex broke the rules" problem.
The PR problem is dealt with by removing him from the CSM. That also addresses the play-base disappointment being expressed. It also send a message that taking griefing out-of-game is not going to be tolerated, without, you know, actually banning a player for a drunken mistake.
But then, it wasn't a drunken mistake. I'm willing to guess he wasn't drunk when he prepared the presentation. It was the presentation itself that gave rise to this whole incident.
That makes it not only a case of bullying - which he might not have intended it to be - but a bad error of judgement. Do we the players want someone who makes these sort of bad judgement calls as CSM chair? Poor judgement makes for a poor leader - and so there's another reason for the CSM to let him go.
Once you break it down, there's not really an upside to letting him stay... unless you hope "it'll blow over", which we know is pie in the sky. Every CSM press release, or news story will link back to this as long as Alex remains CSM chair. It's not going to go away.

Is he runing a country of someting? No.
He already appologised to the player and said player is 10bil richer, and at that point the guy was completely ignorant as to what was happening.
