It's doubtful he has a criminal case here. However, he does have a decent civil case that can be filed in the US. http://eveprincessbride.wordpress.com/ |

Technically, there's enough material to just go Patriot Act on Mittani and hold him indefinitely without trial |

Are you feeling a little pucker in your seat goons? If so, that's your *** working as intended. From what I've seen of them off and on over the years, I don't think the leadership will change the goons as a whole. Every MMO I've seen them in, they act the same. Different leaders, same MO. They will go on without the mitanni if something were to happen to him. I mean, it is probably a given that the most that will happen is that he won't be on the CSM. They wouldn't ban his accounts. Who knows, maybe his wife will give him enough bullshit that he quits on his own and turns over the ownership of the goons to someone else who will just do the same thing.
I don't see the goons being hurt at all, or this creating some mass exodus from the game. |

HTFU -- CCP according to Alex (the RL guy) it wasnt a joke and hes fully aware that he has done something horrible get your facts first before posting ... Erm, the "something horrible" he apologizes for was mocking the miner at a live event and giving out his character name. He never claimed to have serious intent behind it. He at no point said that it wasn't a joke or anything other than mocking. But yes, he freely admitted that his mockery at the event was past the line. his words not mine ... This has been hanging over my head since Thursday when I stumbled away from the Alliance Panel with a vague sense that I had done something horrible
Yes, and read further where he explains what he did wrong that went over the line.
Care to quote the part that states he did anything other than mock Wis and give out his characters name. He acknowledges that this mockery at a live event was waaay over the line.
Thats it. There was no "according to Alex (the RL guy) it wasnt a joke" involved, you simply made that part up. When I check troll in the dictionary, it has a photo shopped picture of you standing somewhere in the vicinity of a point.

Sasha Azala wrote:You can ask him what he wants but the answer wont make any difference it's CCP that has to sort out this mess.
To a point. I said earlier I believe this issue is between CCP, the Mittani and The Wis. The Mittani is a ****, no arguments there. His Goon pets without any behavioural inhibitions are doing a fantastic impersonation of showing us how little humanity they have. I don't think the Mittani will command the same respect as he had before, but that is a personal opinion.
The Wis has conflicting stories, accept an apology and massive ISK donation and still seems put out. It's hard to understand what is going on in his head, hard to understand why. And not really my place or anyone else's place to try and use him as a sockpuppet against the Mittani.
But, if he spoke out and told CCP and the Mittani what he wants - maybe that will help with a resolution. For example, he might say he does not want the Mittani to resign and that he accepts the apology. He might say he wants a Fanfest style broadcast apology. He might want a new character with the same skillpoints and stuff to escape all this attention.
And what he wants out of it should be the end of it.

I can't count how many "die in a fire" comments and other remarks I've seen and read on the Internet, statements which are much more violent than Mittens' comment. If you think that merely uttering a statement that wishes harm upon someone gives rise to civil liability, you need to go back to Internet Lawschool. Any in-depth study of the laws you're alluding to would let you know that the burden of proof for IIED and other torts is quite high.
Let's not forget that it was Wis's mail that opened the door to "suicide" comments in the first place. Mittens comment was simply going along with the content of the mail he received from Mackinawbot. Had that mail message said suicideganking made him vote for Ron Paul, then Mittens may have simply said "Incidentally, if you want Ron Paul to win..." I'm not saying the comments weren't tasteless, but give me a break. This is not grounds for a lawsuit, at least not one that's going anywhere. Somebody was arrested, charged and found guilty only a couple of days ago in the UK because of a Tweet. So yes people can be arrested and found guilty for tasteless remarks on the internet.
Prince, that's actually fairly disturbing.
How much of a stretch is it to realize that either you or I could lose our temper some day and say something hurtful on a forum/tweet/facebook page.
I wonder how many catty remarks our teenage daughters and sons have made online in an arguement with someone.
Cyber Bullying, an organized and relentless attempt to harrass someone online is one thing. A single tweet is something else entirely.
Must have been a dozy. When I check troll in the dictionary, it has a photo shopped picture of you standing somewhere in the vicinity of a point.

Good job Internet Matlock. Obviously, a strict liability terrorism case where someone tweeted a bomb threat is relevant to a potential claim of IIED. Not to mention, Mittens' comment wasn't even made on the Internet. |
