Everyone makes jokes, a lot of people make jokes at the expense of others, some even joke about suicide.
Most adults drink alcohol sometimes, a lot of adults get drunk sometimes, a lot of adults get drunk in public, not many (respected) elected representative get drunk in public.
I don't know, offhand, of any elected representative who has gotten drunk in public and proceeded to make jokes about someone commiting suicide (I am sure if you trawl you can find some).
In my opinion it says quite a bit about someone that they are willing to make such heinous suggestions about someone, especially when that person has expressed their possible vulnerabilities to a poor emotional state. Regardless of the person's reaction the comment was unacceptable, as CCP have shown by imposing a ban.
Alex Gianturco has made a greivous error, he admits that much himself and he as a player has been punished by not being allowed to play Eve Online with that account for 30 days. The Mittani was also on that stage and was making those comments as an aspect of Alex Gianturco, is The Mittani representing his constituents when he holds such contempt for at least one of them that he would joke about their death?
This is my first post, I felt so strongly on reading about what Alex/Mittens said that I had to put forward my two cents. Please think before voting in the future. |

No. It does not work that way.
You can't be a cyber bully when in real life you are a caring personality, sharing and helpful to strangers. (perhaps in disorder situations only).
Most probably, when you are cyber bullying, in real life you are either:
- a bully, or
- a failed bully, meaning that you'd like to bully other people but are bullied instead.
I think that's what happens, you're so much bullied in real life that you take revenge on bullying to strangers in video games to satisfy your hurt ego.
I don't know much about your alliance history, but I think it indicates the same conclusion.
Anyways, CSM should be against bullying anyways. It's supposed to protect the helpless, not support the strong.
And of course, this is not an alt you'll find in game. Bullys like taking revenge against isolated, easy targets, when they can't hurt those that they think that did them wrong. |

So many people acting like they 'care' about the 'victim' in this charade just to use this to further their own agenda's, beliefs, dis-contempt for................
(Goons, Mittani, Titan/Supercap nerfing, whatever other agenda you may have against the CSM Chair) <--Fill above space as appropriate.
Bottom line is in the video Mittens was not representing himself as the CSM nor as his own real life personna. He was representing his in-game persona. That persona is clear to anyone that understands the goons philosophy.
Did he cross a line?
Yes he did. But in all honesty so did most of the previous speakers at that forum in some form or another. Also heavy drinking and crossing the line go hand in hand.
Bring a bunch of people to a stage, have cameras rolling, allow heavy drinking of speakers while they speak publicly. What could possibly go wrong?
A good portion of the EVE community glorifies 'tears' or other peoples rage/sadness reactions to in game actions. It was only a matter of time before someone crossed the line the be part of that 'cool kid' club.
Many people have/had an agenda in seeing Mittens leave the CSM. This is a fact. But to these people I say to use some other persons real life mental state (the Mackinaw pilot) as ammunition and a way to further your agenda (seeing The Mittani removed from CSM) in my opinion makes you just as guilty as the person that crossed the line during the forum. |

This entire situation is a witch hunt. It has been since day 1. Everyone who didnt vote for mittens got mad he won, and he mistakenly gave them a reason to complain. And what he did was big enough and public enough that they had enough leverage to cause a huge stink about it, and they did. Effectively conquering the CSM. It was actually a pretty tactful power play. Although I disagree with it, it was cunning. They are allowed to do this, because this is EVE.
Thus is the sandbox we all pay to be a part of. I'll be burning Jita with the best of them.
