It may be well-intentioned, but all it shows is Quicktime's and your own ignorance of the meaning and the extent of the changes that are being implemented.
Or perhaps it shows they have a perfect understanding of the nature of this game, and the law of diminishing returns that underpins it?
Regarding nano-nerfing, it is perfectly legitimate to bring people out of the delusion that high sp equals skill. It does not. Your skill is your tactical ability, your quick thinking, you reflexes, and your judgement. It does not mean having high sp that allows you to press f1-f8 and win.
That is for WoW where level 70s can kill low level characters with impunity. That has never been, and this has been stated again and again, what Eve is about. The laws of diminishing returns apply here. Skilling for 30 million sp's does not mean you will always win every time you undock for some pew, because the difference between the thirty million sp's and the five million is less than the difference between the five million and the 1 million sp:s.
The nano-nerf looks to me to enforce this, so that once again small gang warfare becomes a viable alternative for the majority of the players, rather than a pampered elite that feel threatened by the removal of the I-WIN f1-f8 buttons. Let's not even get into the festering pit of parasitism that ghost training is...
And perhaps that's what all this whining is really about. The unfair advantage is being removed, and what will be required to win after the nerf will be the skill, and not the high sp. What will be required to win is superior tactics, superior judgement, superior reflexes. Having to rely on true skill rather than perceived sp:s must be very frightening to some people.
These whines certainly proves that.

why is it that every time that we get something new (patch or expansion) players start complaining before we even can try the new changes and see the whole picture of it?
the expansion is indeed free, no matter how you look at it. you pay for your account, to keep the servers running and to keep CCP alive, you don't pay anything for the updates.
if all those who whine about future changes would stop playing EVE just because they fear that they would actually have to adapt their way of playing, then we who stay will have less of a lag problem in-game.
short story: don't worry about changes, it will turn out to be good in the end anyway. "life is change, change is life. the ones who can't adapt will not survive"

Just what the hell did you just say...
hmm i have screenshots of them from the TriExtractor tool, also a few other unreleased ships in there too. heres pics of the mini-titans, im sure someones seen them before though:

I think these are pictures of the old titans. Titans have been in the game from the beginning. CCP always wanted to implement them into the game but it took them a very long time. I think these are the old desings that where implemented on the day that EVE was released. So there will be no mini titans in the game with this expension. I think that the motherships already fill the role of mini titans anyway.

Seems like big nerf to missiles-based ratting ships incoming (10x lower explosion velocity = less dps than turret ships to rats). And to compensate nano ships will get nerfed. But missiles will be useless in most pvp fights anyway - cause of non instant damage (some can fly 1 minute before reaching target that just warped away...).
So that mean propably missiles wont have any use now at all.

Now about the expansion... Having expansions is always sweet, especially when they are for free, looking forward to see what are the changes to industrial ships.

Perhaps because with everything they add, they add more bugs and they refuse to fix most of them... There are so many older persistent bugs that CCP apparently just refuses to address..
If they want us to be happy when they add something they need to increase the QA of their new things and increase the DEV's awareness to the agony that is peresent amongst the players about the truckload of bugs in the game. |

This storefront thing is a waste of time. "Building trust in their goods"? If I can't make a Modulated Strip Miner II any better than anyone else, then the only thing that matters is the PRICE.
I don't know how CCP hasn't noticed that NO ONE CARES who they buy things from.
Complete waste of time, just like the recruitment system. They should spend their time overhauling the interface, not adding more useless features to bog said interface down even further.
And when I say overhaul the interface, I don't mean make it more customizable (i.e. make more windows that never seem to remember where i want them). I mean REALLY revamping it from the ground up. _________________________________________________________

For the speed nerf, are rats going to get nerfed? How about those mssions with huge as distances between the gates? Like Mordus Head Hunters lvl 4 where there's a 60km distance from the warp in point to the gate?

I don't think certificates is a good thing, unless a pilot can choose not to show them off. Otherwise you will know exactly the skill level of the person you're fighting, and it becomes more like WoW where you run around looking for someone of lower level then you.

I think the updates and expansions are good generally, as they maintain the development process, which is needed in everything. So I have no problems with this new expansion, even if it changes the way I am playing ATM a little bit. This is what makes many players angry-they get used to the system and try to live (=play) every day the same way. Which is boring and not realistic. So I'm all for these expansion news.

i haven't ghost trained yet, although i did like the idea that if somehow you needed to step away from the game for an set amount of time you would still skill up.
I do think CCP went way overboard with this. What i think they should of done is nerf the time it takes to train the skill if your ghosting. Let say the while active you train at 1000SP an hour. If you go inactive you would train at something like 300-600 skill points an hour. In addition make an moderate rank skill to increase the amount of sp an hour you would train whil inactive. Call it something like suspened animation: each level decreases the penalty from ghost skill training by 7% or something like that. of course with out the skill you can't ghost train. That might enable CCP to get an extra month of active out of some accounts.
As a trade off give active accounts full skill queues. Even better would be to fully intergrate into eve mon, so you can make a skill plan and set to your que and forget.

Sheesh,
You'd think people in here would be under the belief that CCP is somehow secretly conspiring against their own customers. By the sounuds of what I'm hearing from some people, I'd gather that CCP is nerfing stuff on purpose because they like to see the people that give them money suffer.
A few questions to any of the posters that have been greifing about this latest expansion. Do you not believe that the nerfs put in place are to balance issues that arise via previous changes and in preperation for future changes to inevitably make the MMO a better place to be? With how much your trash talking their hard work to deliver us a better product, is this to state that other mainstream MMO's don't have these flaws? If CCP angers you so much why do you play? You want to make a real statement, quit. Your not under contract.
I appriciate the fact that CCP continues to release free expansions AS WELL AS simultaniously working to resolve bugs and other known issues. Sure, they haven't been able to hit every issue, but if they halted expansion of the game to fix every bug, we would never see another release.
For those of you who complain about a change made in the game, complain, you have the right. However! When you complain please refrain from "Whaaa they nerfed my missles" and make an intelligent arguement to why the change is bad for the community and what could be done to make the game a better place (in a constructive manner).
Now, on to my view of what I have seen so far being released in the expansion. Definate pro's to the certification system. Glad we have the ability to toggle it on and off. All's I need is for some Caldari swine to know what I'm capable of mounting on my ships. I wish I would of had this when I started playing EVE. I have alot of skills I do nothing with.
I haven't had a chance to read up on the product stamping/store front idea yet however. I will be looking up more on that shortly.
Anyways, I just wanted to put in my two cents on what is not suprising to see on the EVE Online forums as far as many of it's users go. Looking forward to Quantum Rise.
Thanks.

Just so people know I don't fly Nanos, but enjoy killing them they are a great joy to kill and fight, they make the game more fun. FUN is the key word, go play SISI and speak up if you think the game is more fun with those changes or less? Learning new things is fun, that reason alone could be enough for you. Flying a multibillion isk ceptor is huge rush and a lot of fun for me it's gone on SISI or Quantum of Solace.
Honestly I would rather pay for a good expansion with proper testing, content, features, then a low budget add on that makes me want to quit playing, they don't give the Expansion's away, you pay every month for development, the mask of "free" is great marketing, some of you foolish people think they you are getting something for nothing, oh the joy of being young and dumb.
Time will tell on the subjective nature of game design, I made my vote and encourage others to do the same, enjoy your time in Eve I did this past two+ years, few more days and it will be over for me.
It even inspired me to fire up my old friend the Crytek2 engine and start to mock up a new space game, easier more like a WOW in space, limit the server so you can have great 200 man fights, land on the planets to run space dungeons, play poker in the space casinos for Eurisk "cross between a Euro and Isk" two races to make things easier on the art team, battle arena's where you can join "real-time" combat or arcade control of your ship for low ping player on player fun, gambling on the fight, built in racing, transfer of power TM "your WOW or Eve character will be converted to our system for signing up for a 6 month subscription with no additional cost to you!", Player own station combat will be like being in a B-17 bomber, takes a few days of training actually using a POS for gaining the skills, then you can operate a death star, carriers actually carry ships containing player...
I could go on but why ruin the surprises! Your days are numbered CCP, one ****ed off engineer working his ass off to crush you like empty beer can against my melon! Since I do not enjoy your game any more I will make something better! Hey where are the VC's funding crazy people these days, oh jebus they are here and I am naked again... damit oh the humanity, ok zipped up and ready to present New Eve we built it in the good ole USA so we can help the US based players with good spawns after our down time instead of the euro that get support from CCP.
Enjoy your last Fan Fest! Iceland is melting Sarah Palin told me so, and I believe her she was a beauty queen, get a nice raft, and Leo DiCaprio will save you again...
This was dam fun to write...and yes I named my character after a program on my desktop, we engineers have no imagination...

I look forward to seeing the changes but like people have said, I can't help but see that ccp do these patches not just to make the game more interesting, but to mould the game into the direction THEY want to see it materialise into...and not what the players want. Nerffed complex's are a typical example for starters like the one in Traun. They should introduce new things and let the Eve community deal with it.

It happens to all parts of the game. I lost my long range torps...but I adapted and I still get to use them. And then there was the carrier nerf, and then the shield got adjusted on the drake, and then we lost some resists accross the board for explosive damage, and then..... And look, I'm still here blowing ships up.
Figure out a new way to pvp. That is what the rest of us are doing, so while you are whining about how you can't fly fast we will be blowing you up using new tactics.
If you can't handle a change in a virtual world, how do you survive change in the real world?

It amazes me how people do not appreciate the hard work done to provide a fun game. It is true that not everyone can be pleased.
CCP has provided a game that in their best interest is the best mmo. Some think Star Trek Online will be better, some say WOW has better features, yet others say they can make a better game.
"The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence"
CCP, I sincerely thank you for making this game. It is fun and hope that the new enhancemetns will make it better. Keep up the good work.
A brief message to those who think EVE is not what you want, apply to ccp as a developer, see if you get the job, realize working to develop a game is different than complaining about it, realize that a feature you thought to be cool others call it the worse thing ever, and then come back and read your posts.

agreed karl , "you cant please all of the people all of the time but you can please some of the people some of the time"
out of the several hundred thousand subscribers, the few neysayers that can be bothered to post are a tiny fraction of the ingame populace.
so, ccp may do something you may not like,. make a constructive post, come up with a better idea, post it through the proper channels,. you never know something might happen. or....just winge and whine here.
ive been playing since beta and there have been many many changes in eve since then, some i agree with , some i do not, but on the whole they game has improved massively from what it started out as.
And yet again this is a FREE upgrade to the game, as has always been the way of eve.

I do Karl been making games a lot longer then CCP. I talked to CCP about a job, the pay isn't good and to work on Eve you have to live in Iceland, moving from California to go there doesn't make any sort of sense. I will keep working on games here, and or digital animated films for Dreamworks. I respect the game and work or I wouldn't waste my time on Eve, right now I assume while the engineers are working on all the changes the lead designer has been playing Warhammer Online, and working on the Vampire design, Warhammer has caught up and passed Eve in a very short time, all these things are considered when making design decisions for the future of Eve, and rightly so, it's the reality of making games you make them for money as well as the joy of making them, but by trying to change this game to another one is a decision that tosses the hardcore player base out the window, in hope of replacing us with new people. New people are great, they haven't seen every mission over and over again, and they can reuse what currently is in the game and not worry about making new content to give the old time player more to keep us interested best thing about new players is they don't know what they have lost as they have no reference point to the past.
Changing many of the mechanics for combat in the 5th year of release is suicide, Warhammer 40k will be great, predicted to take 40%+ of the Eve customer base.
