CCP has been totally silent on when Ambulation is coming and has neither confirmed nor denied whether it is included in Quantum Rise. One would assume that such a huge feature would be mentioned in the announcement of Quantum Rise, but on the other hand, they seem to be aiming to hype up Ambulation at the Fanfest and saving any announcement for therein.
Perhaps it is unlikely, but I am hoping for a surprise announcement at the Fanfest that Quantum Rise includes Ambulation.
Let me dream.
EVE Online: Quantum Rise does not include new content.
Fixed for you

We're having fun over in Chribba's thread.
Originally by: Howatch Johalla For me this expansion looks like a good one even if it is a bit thin.
EVE Online: Quantum Rise is a staged delivery and began with the deployment of technology features, StacklessIO, EVE64 and hardware upgrades, as well as features such as the autopilot avoidance. The main reasons we're deploying the expansion in stages is that we wanted to be able to measure a before-and-after of the technology improvements and also to minimise deployment risk.
Later deployments (coming soon to a computer near you) will include even more DB optimisations and Need for Speed improvements, and more features, such as Storefronts, Certificates, Medals, Weapon Grouping, a new industrial ship, and more stuff yet to be announced.
I wasn't aware that standard procedure in MMO's was to add content in a patch and then two weeks later annonce it as being part of a new expansion, really you seem to have a lack of anything to annonce.
So what do we get with this Update(i say update because theres not enough there at present to be called an expansion)
1. Weapon Stacking Nice an addition that will be very useful
2. Store Fronts Maybe cool for the first few weeks, will have to wait and see how indies use it.
3. Certs Muh, more clutter
4. Orca Well i'm not an industrial player but any new ship is a welcome addition, thats if its a new ship and not another reskin...seriosly did you guys go to the diablo school of design where you take 1 mesh and just skin it slightly differently to make it appear that there are alot more ship types than there actully are?
umm and bug fixes, i have to say of every mmo i've played this has to be the single most pathetic excuse for an expansion i've ever heard of, thats not to say though that the "and lots more" could really make it a worthwhile one
currently all i see if a patch with a new splash screen

After 7 days this thread for the quantum rise (or rising ) has only reached 14 pages. Doesn't bode well. Perhaps pilots are preoccupied with other more important issues. Ahem. Cough.

Well, it is a press release that seems to target people who don't know much about EVE. For us forum inhabitants the press release offers very little. When CCP decides to give details about the actual content instead of empty PR babble, people would actually have something to comment about.

Keep in mind that the speed balancing affects more than just ridiculously fast Minmatar ships (seriously, there's no reason that a HAC should be able to out run an interceptor). It also breaks Gallente blaster boats who are now put at a bigger disadvantage by not being able to close distance. But I'm sure this will be addressed. :)
sum1 shoot this guy. in the games current phase. interceptors go faster than all cruiser sized vessels and even the sabre did until they nerfed it. THe only reason you see cruisers going faster than ceptors = ceptor pilots generally can't afford even low-grade snakes much less polycarbons without having either trained skills to make money or have a main that can..and people tend to put in more time, effort, and isk into that ship than most frigate pilots dare venture too.
Vagabond - lg snakes polycarbons and 3x OD setup w/ t2 mwd - 9km/s Any ceptor w/ the same rigs and implants and t2 variant = roughly 11-16km/s (more or less as i've not played w/ them all). I've had an unrigged claw w/o bonuses doing 11.3 w/ the same clone. This aspect definately brought power to teamwork and bringing an assorted gang filling different roles, such as bubbles, dual webs or a trio of ceptors and the dps to finish the job.
Im still curious if interceptors are going to be worth flying now. Gallente EAF's will probably see a rise in use from their scram range bonuses. but with the lack of information to be provided on what exactly they're changing in this patch leaves alot to be seen.
One post had a screen shot showing a t1 mwd and a gisti b-type 1mn mwd showing the same speed bonus but the faction using a ton less cap and giving a smaller sig radius than its unnamed variant. Have to say im kinda 0.o at that and am unsure whether i like or dislike that change. would like to see the t2 version tbh.
I know there are more changes than this speed balance thing, however I play the game to pvp and pvp alone at it is the only unpredictable non repetative feature this game has to offer its playerbase. Shiney new models that risk increasing server instability don't much impress me when it comes to throwing 1.3b isk cruisers at the hands of 0.0. Glad to hear about the recent server upgrades and I hope that if they don't now these changes are applied to every node on the server, as losing a ship to a server lock up or a node not being able to handle the incoming fleet (wow my shields are going down but i can't even see my ship and i clicked warp to 5 minutes ago when they said the bubble was shot down factor) is in no way fun.
I will openly admit i don't have much hope for this expansion, sounds like battlecruisers will become the norm instead of specialized t2 pilots for roaming (other than dictors, eafs and possibly even recons, while it seems to me a maneuverable expensive ship like a curse can easily now be replaced by a typhoon or some other BS w/ scan resolution scripted sensor boosters and large neuts as with mwd's being shutoff by scrams and afterburners becoming the new and regressed speed mod, it shouldnt be a challenge at all to catch someone in even a dictor bubble, where we already have large bubbles that can exceed 50+ km from a gate.
and so help me ccp...this time..REMEMBER TO CHECK WHETHER OUR OVERVIEW AND OTHER WINDOWS ARE GOING TO MOVE AROUND EVERY TIME WE DOCK.
You guys have a tendency to repeat the same mistakes with your patches...and please don't repeat the boot.ini file incident. k thx

Uh, inactive accounts, whether "training" or not, represent ZERO load on the servers. CCP's resources do not get any help from nerfing unsubbed training. On the contrary, reactivations of lapsed accounts are dropping, accounts are being consolidated and the additional accounts abandoned, and revenue is taking a hit.

Originally by: E Drohner If its not fun, then why are you wasting $15 a month on eve to begin with?
I'm not. I'm dropping my contribution to CCP's revenues from over $1600 per year to some very low number.
Originally by: E Drohner I'm willing to bet that your not sitting there being FORCED to play.
Nope. Not forced. That's what CCP overlooked.

Rubbish. The game still suffers from bugs that were eviident when I began in Eve 2-1/2 years ago. Many new bugs have been introduced while a few have been fixed. The whole POS thing is so badly done that we can't even name a corporate hangar and alliance members can't access corporate hangars. crap... medals and stuff..
They are doing what all the other FPS games have done.. giving 14 year old kid medals, so they can focus more on getting that, than teamwork. Why not let good PVP players or PVP players that have spent 500 hours PVP ,getting a new ship unlocked aswell, while you are at it.
Medals ingame are just lame.... Like wathing "wannabe" military ppl, who could not cut it for the real stuff in rl. Plz make an option, so I can disable the medal viewing thingy.... |

Procurator I agree with everything you are saying, great post! I am sad to leave Eve as well, was good while it lasted 2+ years for me as well, the devs were on the test server asking people how they liked the new waste of resources Orca class donkey.
I have heard it asked of the dev's many times but not one has answered anything about Interceptors and the speed nerf effectively removing its role in combat. My favorite part of the Live Dev Blog is when Zulu stated that choices have to be made in game design and we can't always listen to the customers opinion. I swear this is right out of the EA handbook.
If you are in the middle of mining or searching for a new game to play, go to the CCP website and read the Financial Reports & Filings .pdf's. I made more money then all of CCP with 2 people at EA in just handheld games, more profit, more revenue generated, after reading your public documents where you clearly know what your risks are, why would you risk all your hard work in building CCP on changing the combat system? I am sorry I cannot support this short sighted approach to managing your own company. I came to Eve because you guys were rebels that bought your own IP back and made it the game you wanted with out "the mans" approval you have lost the plot gentlemen.
Btw I made two medals on SISI tonight, "Most Subscriptions Canceled", and "Putting up with a year of terrible design decisions" I awarded them to myself, making medals, LOLs. Yeah that's what we all wanted.

From my short experience in the game, I was always under the impression that the way you use a blaster boat is to have a scout go and tackle the target, then Blaster Boat warps to the tackler from a safe spot. Relying on nano fits to get a battleship to blaster range seems a little backwards to me.
The Orca will certainly make life easier for folks who need to haul stuff long distances without being able to reliably fill up a freighter.

Someone ones said: "Democracy is worst type of totalitarianism if demos is stupid."
Regarding marketing, profit and sustainable development.
You have to distinct two basic type of your customers. A) majority - new players (mainly high sec)- industrial type - without deeper understanding of this game or any other game - moving from game to game - MOST WHINING and posting in general B) minority - long term players with deep game understanding, rarely posting or whining - they live EVE!! They don't dig graphics and medals that much. Real value for them is playabilty, functionability and openess of the game.
If you rely on conclusions made from your customer care service you'll end up in deep **** cos you are led more or less by customer A. They will continue to come and leave anyway. They are mass led by trend, without knowing who they are and what they want. They love to chat and post comments.
You should rely on customer B. You should make plans (cost of development, focus of development, cost of maintenence etc.) based on that pipe. That policy would guarantee your survival and overall success. And our happiness. It seems that you are a bit of that stream now. Unless this its already exit strategy. Lets take what we can.

Amen to that. After 12 years of MMORPG, Eve dwarfs anything out there for me. And anyone who complains because they can't play an online game without paying for it needs a serious adjustment in the ways of the world. Go to ANY other gaming organization (including the evil EA) and ask to train a character without paying for a subscription. See if they work that into the next patch for you. :-)

A company should develop based on the needs of a minority of its customers in order to guarantee success? Since when is that good business? Company A has five long-term, permanent customers. They build their business around the needs and wants of those five customers. Customer B has a business that attracts 10 customers each day, and by the end of the day those 10 customers are bored, and move on. The next day another 10 new customers appear, and they become bored at the end of the day. The bottom line is that Company A has 5 customers a day, and Company B has 10 customers a day. Which is the better business? |

Company A is. Given time, word will spread that Company B doesn't care about keeping its customers happy, only attracting new ones - don't believe me, go ask Sony Online Entertainment how its subscriptions are doing these days. Meanwhile, Company A's reputation will begin to attract more than just those 5 customers a day. People don't like the idea of being considered disposable. |
