CCP: I've never heard people on TS saying - "Hey its boring lets go play a map on this game or that game". We had 10+ people left our corp 0.0 based (one of the major 10 alliances) due to lack of interest. I've been long enough to know that this never happened in any corp/alliance I was part of. It seems kinda recent that more and more people are leaving, Why? (No don't answer me, answer yourself) I see few major problems that need improving and please concentrate on resolving those issues before introducing new useless stuff. LOL look i have new certificates, so now what?

Though it is nice to know that the developer are doing things, my views (for what they are worth) are as follows:
1) Silly name. Sounds like they're jumping on the "Quantum of Solace" bandwagon. I preferred Midas.
2) While storefronts are useful for those corporations who actually manufacture stuff for sale, I'd be interested to know what proportion of corporations this would actually apply to. After all, a great many corporations provide services rather than good - will storefronts cater for them?
3) "industrial ships are being rebalanced"! Oh dear. I think we all know what that is likely to mean! Maybe I should start a "WTF CCP! What have you done to my Iteron?" thread and beat the rush ;-)
4) I wonder if the Orca will be the ship that Jump Freighters should have been? You know ... between industrials and freighters in both capacity and *price*, with maybe a few slots to provide some variability.
5) Certificates, I suppose, might be useful for corp recruitment, though there are already out-of-game ways of doing this - InEVE, for example, will show the skills of a character which have been API verified. These would speed up the process, and (maybe) allow a player to reveal only those skills asked for.
6) Medals ... meh ;-) Most corporations interested in this kind of thing already make use of the corp title.
7) Interested to see if StacklessIO and EVE64 actually make any difference to lag. Also, all-to-often, "breakthrough" is synonymous with "breakdown" ;-)
8) Weapons linking sounds OK. Though I hope this functionality will apply to things other than weapons - mining, salvaging, remote repping, energy tranfer etc. Will drones be included in this? Will we be able to link drones to weapons so that at the press of a button everything will attack the chosen target? Given than drones are weapons, will weapon linking mean that 'focus fire' actually work consistently? ;-)
9) Not interested in Trinity graphics engine. As one of, no doubt, many people who can't use the premium graphics - laptops ftl - I doubt I will feel any benefit from this.
10) Autopilot changes. Again, meh. Haven't made any use of the new features- probably just as well given some of the bugs when they were introduced - and can't see me using any new features - I like the system the way it is. But we'll see when details are available.
Not really a great deal there of interest to me. Might change as more details become available. Extemely worried about the use of the word 'rebalancing' - my Iteron V is already finding clever places to hide. Hopefully "More to be revealed" will include a nice, long list of bug-fixes.

Edited by: MigG176 on 16/10/2008 16:28:26 Anyway, what is CCP's policy in terms of balance and rebalance? Nerf Minmatar this month till players get fed up of that then nerf Gallente while boosting Minmatar while leaving amarr alone till next upgrade when it start again, and so it goes on? That is just no way to balance the game!!!

Edited by: David Grogan on 16/10/2008 16:37:44 Edited by: David Grogan on 16/10/2008 16:37:13 i agree a new better destroyer should be introduced..... yes the current one had 8 weapons mounts but the weapons it can mount are rubbish due to lack of power grid....or at the very least rebalance the current destroyer so at least 8 125mm hybrids can be fitted on it along with a mwd and some decent armor plates with a lil training ....
also the industrial ships need base speed notched up a little...due to the lack of defence capability they should be at least able to run quicker.....this could be achieved by adding at least 1 more low slot (warp stab) and 2 medium slots for shield hardners/boosters... also an extra high slot (doesnt need to be a weapons turret slot) would be good to add extra tractor beams or salvagers or mining beams.
for other ships a drone bay expansion skill book & drone expansion module should be introduced with each level adding 5m3 but at the expense of cargo space -5m3 per level. But charge 2mil plus for the skill book and 1mil for the expansion module (could be fit in the upgrade hardpoint and require jury rigging lvl 3).

Medals from your corp. only? no one will care. You can get a medal from your self or your buddy and no one will care out side your corp etc...
Hay I got a biggist puts medal from the goons, do you care? what bagging rights are we talking about?
Why not have medals from NPC for achiavments you've done? Not that will mean something.
And ferther more, Factional warfare ranks are useless, you can get the ranks easy just from sitting at location in your own safe territory.
I don't understand why you keep missing the boat on this stuff.

The sheer amount of whine in this thread warrants cheese... It's also quite staggering. IF people are this ****ed off at CCP (lol why?) and the game (somewhat understandable), what the hell are they still hanging around for? EVE would, honestly, be better off without you. At least CCP would :D I can't imagine the absolute fun of reading prepube emorage posts all day.
Balance is important, but you will always adapt to changing circumstances and you don't whine about stuff you can't change. |

There's too much negativity on this thread. I think that you should all be gratefull, I know I am, that CCP are releasing a FREE expansion. There is a certain game that WoW'd me with their new expansion, only thing is you need to pay extra for the expansion to continue playing that certain game!! In this day and age, free is good. Help CCP by providing constructive critisms, not whines! Don't make me use UPPERCASE! |

Originally by: Decker Mourn I find the number of players complaining that they can't improve their characters for free to be pretty funny. I bet these same people quit WoW for six months and came back expecting to have leveled to 60 while on cruise control.
That's not what they're complaining about.
a) the amount that they can train is limited One skill trained per account. Same way its been since the beginning. b) they have to PAY to get that improvement Heaven forbid you have to pay for the game you're supposedly playing! c) it will have a negative impact on CCPs finances (and not just from these people who do quit, but from all those who do not resubscribe because they lost that incentive). So not playing the game was an incentive to play the game? d) These people don't play WoW. Or if they do, they certainly won't be playing Eve again. If having to pay for the right to play and grow on the game bothers them that much, thats a shame. e) Eve is not in ANY way comparable to WoW, doing so just makes you look stupid. Go back to WoW. EVE and WoW are both MMOs that happen to use different faces. And a negative opinion doesn't make it a correct one. f) The players 'complaining' have probably almost all spent more money on Eve than the average Eve player. Apparently not if they cancelled their accounts in order to get ahead. g) Anyone who did use this, will now find their char is worth more as a result of the change. Hey, you found an upside to all this! h) CCP are deliberately or negligently lying about the reasons for this change I thought they were pretty honest about it. Enough people were doing it that they felt it wasn't fair for paying customers to be supporting nonpaying customers. They may have tried to fluff it a little, but it was pretty obvious it was about the money. i) The notice given was pathetic. Correcting a bug (which this was, regardless of how long it took for them to fix it) doesn't even really need a warning. Really would have been funny if people reactivated their subscriptions in four months and found their skill hadn't budged, huh? At least there was a warning. j) It is a FEATURE which was deliberately put in the game, it is NOT a feature of the Chinese version that launched years ago with an almost identical code base, so if it was unintended they could have with no effort 'fixed' it at that time. Just because they chose to leave it until now doesn't make it a "feature". It makes it a bug that they felt wasn't doing harm to others at the time. Enough stuff seems to break around here, why bother with things that aren't critical? k) It was advertised in the player guide, the forums, and word of mouth to other players. And now it won't be. Life goes on.
But no, just reduce it to 'whining that they can't get something for free' and you show the level of consideration required to be employed at CCP.
Personally I would rather they put the subscription cost up, I don't mind paying more for the game, I think the impact this will have on the server population and CCP's finances are far worse than any impact it will have on me. (It's not going to affect me 'directly').
Now, I'll have to admit, you are correct about one thing; I show a level of consideration. It just happens to be for someone besides myself. If you want to improve your character, play the game. If you feel that its unfair that other players pay for the game so that your character can get its Amarr Dreadnaught V or whatever skill you were ghosting... bummer.
Oh, and nearly forgot. The reason its called a "free expansion" is because you aren't paying forty bucks to pick it up in the store or to download it from the website. Feel pity for all those WoW players who are fixing to have to shell out 30-50 bucks per computer for their new update on top of paying this month's fee.

Originally by: Bartholomeus Crane If this is supposed to be the 'industrialist' expansion, are you planning to do something about T2 BPOs?
They're currently interfering with the efficient working of the T2 market, and have been doing so since the introduction of invention.
At that time there was a discussion about replacing them with long-run T2 BPCs (like with the unlimited run BPCs), or introducing something like 'reverse engineering' that turns invented T2 BPCs into T2 BPOs that can be researched.
Either way, if the plan is to (also) wrap-up a long list of outstanding issues in this expansion, this is an issue that hasn't been addressed for a long time, is of a lot of interest to a large number of non-privileged industrialists, and would provide a fair and equal opportunity for all in T2 market PvP. ...
Not this shit again. No, I don't own t2 bpo's. Yes, I think you're 100% wrong.
Ahh, I see. So you admit you have no practical knowledge of the subject? And fail to provide any reasoning behind your position? Yet feel free to make childish quips and spout inane opinions?
Seems to me your brain isn't really running the show. Me thinks you could do with a little bit of training - might I suggest primary school? -- Quis custodiet ipsos custodes? |

It seems some people disliked what I said. You are correct, complaining is a part of game making. It is necessary in the development of great things. However what is happening here is beyond this. Complaining about a real problem makes perfect sense. Complaining about loosing the ability to move ungodly fast, because you got to the point where you are unable to adapt to new combat styles, because you lack the ability to, is not complaining. it is whining, and foolish. Combat is based on checks and balances. Minmitar will still be the fastest force in Eve. they just won''t be as fast. people will have to tactically analyze the situation and find new ways to fight. Do it. learn. develop something new to call your own proven tactic instead of just adhering to the regular boring tactics. Now as far as the updates being slim? yeah maybe.... we don't get every piece of content we wish for. For instance we started a wonderful graphics overhaul that is incomplete, we talk about ambulation which hasn't seen anything in game yet. We released a patch for empire goers rather than pvp, That's not slim. It's just not what you want. So yes complain. by all means do that. But please, don't pressure a group of people that have entertained us for five years because you aren't getting exactly what you want. In reality our customer support team is wonderful. I hope they continue to treat us well, despite all of our moaning, and again I look forward to the future Eve offers because no other game will get us nearly as close to it.
