Comeon, most of people complaining dont play on desktop. There is maybe 20% people playing on notebooks and most of them dont have upgradeable gfx and even if they have, its not so easy to upgrade as there can be issues with cooling. And there is probably much more using them as 2ndary rig.
My desktop rig is one of best around and i get over 60-130fps on 2560x1600 at max settings, but i am not allways at home so i can pretty much understand how ppl with notebooks feel.
I have notebook 2, it cost me over 2000$ barely 2 years ago, it dont have integrated intel piece of crap on board and still dont offer enjoyable performance.

On a serious note I think its a joke that ccp let so many people slip by with no information on the change to shader model 2 they should have put up a big warning on the log in screen. yes I know they put it up once but it should have stayed up till patch day.

For the record, Premium Lite trots along at 50% higher frame rates on my MacBook Air (you know, that small, ridiculously underpowered one?) than the old classic client did.

Because Premium actually uses graphics cards, whereas Classic barely does it at all.

What i'm not spending on EVE to keep my multiple accounts going is going on new pc parts. Its about time really, no other game thats been released in the past 3 or 4 years works on it  . So technically its money that would of been theres but they didn't want that money anyways  .

I'm not sure I'd call an integrated cap in an Air a "graphics card" though… it's more some kind of vestigal pixel-lighting appendage.

I love the way alot of people are complaining about laptop users can upgrade thier graphics card, in all honesty laptops are not for gaming on, if your intention is to use a laptop for gaming you should be prepaired to pay through the nose to buy a new one every year at least to keep up.
CCP shouldnt have to slow down the development and graphic enhancements becasue you choose to use a mobile/not designed for gaming pc rather than spend the reasonable ammount of money on a pc capable of gaming.
In responce to people running old computers with naf video cards, a shader 2.0 pci (not pci express obviously) card will cost you less than $30/ú20 online.

In honestly laptops are for guys who needs them to be able paying for the game every month. So what i need 2 PCs? One laptop for work and 1 desktop for EVE? Excuse me but wtf is that? What are you talking about "choosing the mobile"?
I love eve being part of my everyday life, playing in free time while at work or before go to sleep. If i'm able to buy laptop and play the premium that would be great. For now i can't and please don't take the game from us!!!

All you need is a Geforce 5 series or above, you can probablly get these for less than 1 months subscription and if you cant afford to upgrade a computer but can afford $35 every 60 days for subscription you need to sort your priorities.

my complaint is that with the departure of the CLASSIC client
Linux users no longer have an option
not everyone wants to spend $100 (or so) on Windows XP or the other great Microsoft OSs
I did enjoy using the Linux client on my linux workstation, which is no longer an option
the premium lite works just fine on all my old hardware, but linux machines are now useless it seems

I for one think that CCP should upgrade to a DX10 engine and scrap the premium lite client. It's using space on my harddisk for graphic files I don't use and I feel i could use the space better.

I don't have any mates, I have half a liver so drinking would not be a good idea, and I don't trust chinease.

I don't need food or rent as I live in my mothers basement and she covers that stuff with the money the government gives her.

In UO people refused to use newer clients because they refused to upgrade their 10 year old computers.

Last UO patch/publish was implemented march 11 2009. Pretty good trick for a dead game.
