I want the Classic client graphics back, every single thing I have seen so far looks worse in the Premium than before. I've logged in and out 4 times so far, cos its just so crappy looking it's unbearable.

Wat? It looks pretty much the same.
Try cleaning your cache, or even doing a clean install of the client.

"VIA/S3G UniChrome Pro ICP ( SVGA 64mb on board share with memory )." No sodding wonder you have issues, thats not even worth of being called a graphics card. I've binned hardware far better than that (hell I think I still have an nvidia 7800 gathering dust as a paper weight someplace.
As a serious suggestion if you have such major problems getting hardwere in the country try checking something like ebay, buy a card for a fraction of the price pay for it and have them put that its a gift on the customs form :) A lot cheaper and means you can play games that have a half decent rendering engine.
Its ether that or stop playing, eve wants to carry on and not end up the way of many other MMO's that gave up on client development work. Over the years the requirements will change and that may mean a few people have to upgrade or be lost as customers, but its a small price to pay to keep an MMO alive.

I was inititally a bit worried. I usually runw ith 2 clients open in 1380xwhatever and absolute minimal grahics settings. Even with 1 client open it wont allow fleet fights of more than 100 people and that's with all bracks off, zoomed out etc.
I have a P4 3.2GHz thingy from 2004. 2.5gb of RAM and a X1600 256mb graphics card. It wont run Premium with medium settings on one client, that's for sure. Well, ok, it will, but at about 15-20 frames a second when flying around by myself. In gangs it's just not capable of working properly.
However, I've fiddled with the settings and I can currently get 2 clients running with 20-25 FPS each with everything dialed down. It still looks nicer than classic graphics ever did for me and I can run both clients ok.
So... hmm. If my 4 year old PC will do it (well, 5 now, I guess.. albeit with a couple of upgrades in the last half-decade) any desktop that can't do it any more really isn't suitable for any kind of gaming :p

Thats my setup for ya. It can run 110 eve clients with ease at 79 fps. I can also run any voice servers along with it, and if i want, i can change a screen over to TV, and watch a great TV show while playing EVE.
Maybe not on subject but, Lol..that's funny:)
Of course Al Gore is going to come over and unplug ya for causing global warming. I'm sure it could get pushed through as some type of earmark green energy program.
I guess il just have to build him one too then But i really dont understand all the complaining about this. If you dont hae a computer that can run EVE Lite, then you dont have a computer. I tested it last night on a 13 year old computer. Yall that have been messing with computers know what im talking about. It was an old DELL, i did upgrade the cpu to a 2.2 and the ram was boostd to 1gb. It wasnt the fastest thing in the world, EVE was a bit glitchy, but it ran just fine. Moral of the story, stop bitiching and get a new computer, itll serve you better in the longrun.

Notice that: "upgrade your computer" "my cousin got a 4 year-old computer that works fine" "get a job" "if you can spend 15/month you can afford 400 for a rig"
are not acceptable answers.
yes, yes they are.
Agreed. I couldn't play games with so much as even water effects for years. Wasn't until I finished school and got a job I could get a PC good for gaming.
Patience.
i was in the same boat until X-mas money came thru....before that Halo PC had teal sheets for water, the flashlight was non-exisitant nor was it needed cause even basic lighting didnt make areas dark, Bloodgoulch had a green blur for grass and no one had color....everyone to me was white....made a lot of TKs then T_T
but now it have color and things are shiny and i still can run full CTF game at like 80-100 (dependent on connection and amount of action on screen)
Patience SHALL be rewarded

(and no you cant have my stuff lol)

I suggest you contact CCP if you think that the Classic and premium look 'pretty much the same', cos they would then have wasted a lot of time and effort with their graphics 'upgrade'. (Maybe try cleaning YOUR cache, or even doing a clean install of the client).
What I am saying is quite the reverse, every thing looks differant, and worse. Ships, stations, effects, the scanner window which covers far more of my screen and cannot be down-sized, the fitting screen, all looked better in Classic, and needed no FORCED 'improvement'.
Changes in Gameplay, new content etc, wonderful, thats how a game progresses and grows. Making your Rupture look like its been dipped in ****, and some lame fizzly blobby effect when you jump, doesn't really cut it as far as I am concerned.

I hate to say this but the answer is NO.
CCP was running into Issues with old drivers and coding. It is in several blogs. Basically they had to make a choice of dropping a client and shader 1 or have there hands partially tied with new expansions. There really wasn't a choice.

I really wish they wouldn't have taken taken away the Classic Client.. kind of stupid on their part..
The new Premium Lite version works on my laptop but only for a short time before it gets overheated and shuts down. About 30-45 mins before system starts 'messing up'.
5 to 10 fps with Premium Lite
15-20 fps with Classic Client
--
Thanks CCP for making me not be able to play EvE with my laptop anymore.. good while it lasted.. it really was.. though its a cluster f**k now..

I don't know about bringing back the classic client, but I sure would appreciate it if a coder sat down and optimized the heck out of "sitting in station with station effects off".
My craptop gets 5-15fps in space, but only 0-1 fps in station.

I call shenanigans!
13 years ago was 95/96 with 100 to 200MHz processors. 1st 1GHz processors didn't hit the market till 4 years later and you're claiming you put a 2.2 on that motherboard? Used a hammer to get it to fit?
I'm sure you got an old computer to run EVE, but it can't have been older than Q4 2001 if you got a 2.2 to fit.

I kinda am curious about the powersupply as well from a computer in 1995. Wouldn't it be AT versus ATX, and not supplying anywhere near as much wattage as needed for a more modern processor and video card.

Some people are just too egoist.
Is anyone losing anything if classic mode comes back? NO, they/you don't, since you will keep your premium ubershiny option mode.
This is not Crysis, an empty game in which graphics are the only mean. Eve Online is THAT cool that we enjoy it even with old-school graphics so let us the possibility :)

Yes, those who demand that classic should be maintained.
Quote: Is anyone losing anything if classic mode comes back?
Yes, all of us, since the dev team has to develop things at half-speed to accommodate two different clients. So if classsic comes back, we lose out on a lot of new features and content that can't be developed due to lack of resources. ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in =v=… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

I have to agree with MS just above, who would it be harming IF the classic client was brought back? & people with low end systems were not the only ones that made use of the classic client.
A lot of people that take part in BIGGER sized fleet battles used to use it as it gave them a better FPS etc. when there was a lot going on, on grid. Now I am going to guess that these people are not going to be too impressed with things either as they will take some of the biggest performance hits.
Look I think everyone understands that EVE needs to move ahead, & continuing to support the classic client surely wouldn't have made it impossible to continue to move ahead in the direction they want to go.
I know that for a lot of people the fact that they could play EVE with their laptops/desk top systems no matter how old they were was a BIG draw card for the game, it was a game that not only looked great visually but also had plenty of things to do, a lot of really great players etc etc. Now those people will either have to upgrade their stuff or stop playing & at a guess there will probably be more that stop playing than go the upgrade route & that can't be good for player numbers or company income.
Yes the new graphics look great & I am sure at least some of the new content will be great if it all isn't, & I am sure that won't change if the classic client was re-supported. Remember the negativity when the premium graphics were released? & how people were saying they liked the way things looked and didn't really want them changed? Is this the same sort of thing?
The NEW Expansion/Graphics Are Great BUT Please CCP Bring Back The Classic Client [i][center]IF you see a HUGE Flash in space don't fear for you are already Dead[/cent |

I will restate what I said in a few other threads of this type.
In order for our games to evolve so does our hardware has to as well.
Read the EULA and/or TOS nowhere do they take responsibility for making sure your pc meets the changing system requirements. ANY pc gamer knows that as system requirement improve, they have to upgrade their computers. Its the equivalent of console gamers buying a new system every 3-4 years, in which the graphics stay the same for those 3-4 years until a new system is released.
There is always an option.
T_T T_T T_T T_T T_T T_T T_T i already have a 8400....im guess i have to get a new MB then :(

CCP, as they have to spend a lot more money to keep the classic client running than classic client users are paying to them. You think they're running a charity?

I haven't read most of this thread but I'm sure others have pointed out that, for many reasons, the chances of CCP re-instating the Classic client are probably nil.
Instead, I would suggest a petition not to restore the Classic client, but for CCP to offer a "Lite" client that is in fact "Lite".
Am I wrong, or doesn't the supposed "Lite" client have the exact same minimum requirements as the full Premium? Okay, maybe Lite only requires shader model 2.0, but would it have been so hard for CCP to make the Lite client just a touch less demanding?
