Originally by: Ray McCormack Regarding calls to liquidate the bank now and just pay out what we have, here are some sums.
If you had 3b in your bank account, we could at best allow you to withdraw 50% of that now. You could then re-invest that 1.5b and at 5% compounded per month it would take a year and a half to get back up to your 3b.
We're offering to do the same thing for you.
What you don't take into account is the fact that you cannot guarantee this this will happen and i believe a lot of people will probably be happy to have 50% of the balance on the account now than the hope to get everything in an year. The Trust people have in you has obviously deteriorated, why we should trust you once again? I have almost 1B in your bank, i would prefer to take 500M out today and reinvest it myself for a profit than leave it to you to manage. You (EBANK) have a record of poor management, what guarantees you offer us? None that's why you froze our assets leaving us like this. People should have a choice from several options proposed. This is not great.
And btw i agree on all the people saying that who put money on game bank run like this is an idiot. That's how i feel at the moment and i'm pretty sure i'm not the only one .

I have some ISK invested in EBANK and while I would rather have it back I can survive its loss. I was initially annoyed at the somewhat arbitrary nature of the decision to suspend all with drawals with no option for liquidation or consultation but am not worrying about it now for two reasons:
1. There is a (small) chance that I amy get my money back 2. There is absolutely nothing I can do about it
Assuming the BoD are genuine in their attempts to fix things there two most likely outcomes, I believe, are:
1. The BoD try their best but as time goes on it doesn't work, eventually they drift off or burn out until the whole thing dies and no ISK is returned. 2. Repairs are made and money generated till the bank opens again - at this point there is a run, it closes and the cycle repeats.
Regardless I suspect that EBANK in its current form is dead. That saddens me as I always thought it was a nice idea in a game like this. EBANK may continue to exist as a smaller entity - who knows but it will not be the same thing. Offering a (partial) liquidation option now would have been a much higher risk strategy that would either have seen confidence partially restored or EBANK gone completely the current strategy will proling its life but probably dooms it in its current incarnation.

I really doubt they can return even 50% I'd guess more in the realm over 30% or lower so will you accept 300m for your 1bn? I still think people continuing to say they want X% is silly what they should be doing is saying what % they're not willing to accept below should it liquidate. That would be more beneficial to the board I'm hoping.

Idiots. The only safe place for your isk is YOUR wallet.
Seriously people, knowing the nature of EVE did you expect this to be anything other than a well organized long duration scam? If you did, if you actually BELIEVED it was anything other than a scam just contract all your stuff to me now, send me all your isk, cancel your x100 accounts and go outside and smoke a bowl then throw yourself in front of a moving vehicle because you REALLY are too stupid to live!

No but I am pointing out that there is risk in everything in Eve. I put money in EBANK knowing it was a risk, I just liked the idea of an in game bank. I go out and pvp, mission, mine, trade or whatever else knowing that I might get my ship and pod popped, be scammed or lose money. Everyone has the right to make their own choice on the risks they take. Folks continually making snide remarks becuase they did not choose a particular risk is neither mature nor helpful.

Hmmm may I ask why? Until you resolve the issues you have infront of you, I am looking to buy all the evebank capital I can @ 20 percent of its bank value. Would such an action be ok with eve bank?
Im looking to invest 10 - 20 b -> into 25 percent of the value if evebank can validate that the accounts contains are valid and transfer me the contains? Im also willing to keep that isk on lock for atleast a year.

This is b**locks - if people want their money back at 50% or 30% of it's original value they should get it back. This is the kind of rubbish we're used to seeing in RL banking, your desire to preserve this endeavour is nothing to do with getting peoples money back, it's about preserving your cash cow with its corporate wage structure, bonuses and prestige. THERE IS NO REALISTIC CHANCE OF YOU PEOPLE GETTING YOUR MONEY BACK - Ebank want to preside over 2 or more years more failure before they announce it's all over because there is profit in that for them. Make these people come clean about what is left and then divide it up, it's the best chance anyone has got of getting anything.
The only other explanation as to why they won't give people their cash back is that IT'S ALL GONE - how better to conclude a massive scam than to muddy the waters about whether or not it was a scam or not. Suggest there is a chance not everyone involved is dirty, pick a scapegoat and unload ALL the blame on that one individual. The rest of the conspirators can continue to function within the community because the community believes they are trying to make ammends and were not complicit in the scam. The whole thing will be old news in a few months and all the conspirators can meet up for drinks and a back slapping session. They got away with all the money, only one person got the blame and the rest of them came out of an awful situation with their reputations and their wealth intact. Anyone see any RL parallels here?

One very important point about investing.
example. If I had 10B in EBANK and you gave me 5B. It would be pretty easy for me to earn 20% on the 5B per month through trading if not more. It is likely I could replace the lost 50% in 3-6 months.
Now that small amount is completely different to earning returns on 800B, or which is 500B is fixed in the Titan program and loans. You can't really trade with the rest, so it is likely to only return 5% per month and that will take well over a year.
People can do much better with a small anmount in total return than huge amounts of capital. This has been pointed out many times including EBANK and DBANK boards. As the ISK gets higher the returns get lower.

The wrong part in EvE is not that thru big efforts a group of players can create a bank (with all the risks involved), but that you can consider your ISK safe when in your wallet.
It should be robb-able and stealable like everything else (as in other games), then you'd begin appreciate risky but not riskier solutions.

As for the rest of the post: by giving those guys the money, it's been accepted the risk of them just walking off with it without a thank you.
They are bothering answering to questions and flames and even saying they'll return all the money back. It's much more than they are obliged to do, which is ... zero and thanks for the fish.

Yes you 'took a gamble' but you know what? Gambling favors the house. Always. And only fools do it thinking they will come out ahead somehow or won't lose and will be rich.
The ones who get rich gambling are the ones that own the house, not the dumbasses that gamble in it.

the freeze on withdrawals i understand.
the non-payment of promised interest is not, however, acceptable. in fact, a higher rate of return should be offered for the inconvenience. doing so would assuage much angst. and it is unlikely to slow the recovery significantly. and even if it all fails, it is only "paper" at present anyway.
give me a reason to be happy letting you have my isk for a year, and i will still be with you when the dust settles.

Has the policy to keep account interest frozen for, roughly, 12 months with no accrued interest been changed then?
It doesn't seem fair that the very same people who let this financial crisis escalate should profit if the account holders, who have their isk effectively held hostage, don't stand to gain anything either.
I believe it was Kazzac who asked if transfers between Ebank accounts would still be active, but I think I missed the reply.

As I understand it, staff and directors will be paid last and only when the Bank is healthy again. Customers must have a chance to withdraw cash and have access to that before EBANK staff and directors can touch their cash.
Also, if it's worth anything...when EBANK does return to a place where it can pay salaries I won't be accepting one.

I understand where you're coming from.
Although we have frozen accounts, I am aware that there are discussions going on right now internally on how best to unfreeze the accounts when the time comes. The Board does want you to have access to your ISK.
While what the public says does matter to EBANK people - they have to use their best judgement at the end of the day in deciding what the Bank should and should not do. I am sorry if this results in disagreements about how the Bank acts.

What is the benefit of a statement like yours? It is not constructive and it makes you look like a irritating child that laugh at someone else's mistakes. This could all be a scam, maybe not, who knows. I liked the idea of a bank organized by players and run properly, i saw it as a innovative way to play computer games. I can afford to loose the money i put in there, for this i'm criticizing the approach at the solution of problem, more than the institution that is EBANK . Everybody makes mistake, every ship destroyed every day is the consequence of a mistake, every bad deal made and so on, mistakes make the game exciting because allow you to improve. So shut your gob and prove how good you are with action not with petty, cheap smack talk.

Question:
Account holders have no say in the running of the bank because putting mony in ebank is not investing, it is just like putting mney in a bank. So accounts are not a risk bearing entity (except for scamming of course) When Ricdic stole it was stated he stole ebank isk not accountholder isk. Board members are personally responsible for the situation as it stands now Accounts are frozen Intrest on intrest bearing accounts is suspendend But reservations on salaries and management fees are still made but will be suspended untill such time as the bank is once more solvable.
This is unfair and these statements are in my opinion in contradiction. I could accept reservations for saleries to non board member employees. But a reservation for the suspended intrest should be made as wel and it should be payed to account holders before further (mis?)management fees should be awarded to the people in charge.

Lots of current and former EBank BoDs are trying as hard as they can to hint that Riddic stole it all. It's not working. Because:
(1) They explicitly hired someone to act as a whistleblower who explicitly blew the whistle. The BoD manged to convince everyone it was a personality conflict, or a conflict over policy & procedures. Which it was actually, the whistleblower objected to the "policy and procedure" of allowing Riddic to do anything with no reporting or oversight.
(2) They are already on record as stating that Riddic stole 250B. in cash, and 250B in a no-collateral loan to his buddies who defaulted, and everything was just rosy with EBank.
(3) Riddic left 2 1/2 months ago. I haven't seen their answer to why it takes 2 1/2 months to notice that EBank has less than 1/2 of the cash it should, or to realize that massive massive projects are entirely gone, or that if the ballance sheets are to be believed, then EBank has never ever made a profit on anything.
