EVE won't start. I patched it through the official patcher. Splash-Screen appears, 2 processes with 9 + 10 threads will pop up, the one with 10 threads will hang up and eve quits ...

Hi,
Please try clearing your cache and settings by removing the "EVE Online preferences" folder under Library.
1. Open finder 2. Click your username to the left under "Places" 3. Open Library 4. Locate the folder "EVE Online preferences" and move it to the trash

Thanks, put that works only partially. I have had the same starting issues with Apocrypha, but with your tip I've managed to start in 1 in 5 times ;o) w/ Apocrypha it was about 1 in 2 or 3 times

I just had some of the same kind of problems, but clearing the cache within Eve, before logging in with my character fixed it.
Posting this from the in-game browser, woot. Strangly, fan is going nuts on my MacBook Pro though.

I had a similar problem. I got to play for a few minutes then I froze and could not reboot the client. I cleared the preference folder, and the problem is fixed... but I am getting lag (I am assuming this is from everyone logging on and will wait a few days on this before complaining about it). I just moved from bootcamp to osx side because I got sick of having a partition for only a few games. My question is how often will I need to clear that folder? It is a huge hassle to have to redo all of my overview settings, options, shortcuts etc... or is there a way to circumvent having to redo all of that for next time?

Are you getting network lag or graphics lag (drops in FPS)? Try lowering your graphics settings a bit and see if that helps.
The workaround to remove the "EVE Online preferences" folder should only have to be done once, if you have the problem of the client not starting up properly. If the issue keeps coming back, please file a detailed bug report.

Thanks for the response. CCP's customer service has been great and prompt.

I am getting the same problems, unfortunately even after clearing the cache folder. After logging in for the first time the client connection was closed. Clearing the Preferences folder gets me to the log in screen, but the progress bar is the last thing I see when logging in.

Clearing the cache this way worked for me after I had a couple of crashes and then the client wouldn't restart.

Well... I am having the same problem; amidst corp movement no less. I've cleared cache twice, and it worked; however now it's utterly dead in the water, my system is running in peak condition; so I know it's not on my side Anyone else figured out some ideas as to what to do? Judging by CCPs valiant responses in this thread, I can only assume they're working on things for all of us... an update would be nice though; maybe to let us know where they stand? We all start up, get the splash, and then that's it, right? I'm on a MBPro 2.5, 4g 667ddr, ample HD...... hmmmmm

I would relog in MacOS X if I were you, could be leftovers in memory from a crash that are causing your problems. CCP devs have probably gone to bed by now, you need to wait for tomorrow to get replies I fear.

DEVS, SLEEP, SAME SENTENCE? Pardon the caps, we're not in game right now (lol). They can't sleep on the Eve post Eve. We (pretend to ) worship them for a reason; they have to help us convince the world the osx client is better. o7 and yea, I've rebooted multiple times

If this is of any help, I tried to start the client by launching the cider icon within the client folder (I remember this working on a past glitch somehow).....I then get the terminal window, which states "segmentation fault, logout complete" and of course nothing happens after that. Perhaps someone more knowledgeable than me can make some sense of this.

Same problem, the icon does the "opening animation" but nothing further happens, not even the splash screen.
I tried to delete the eve preferences folder, but it isnt even where the above CCP post shows it. I redownloaded the entire client, no change.
I guess Im stuck playing on my PC for now... <insert witty comment here> |

Same thing here using an newer model iMac. I was able to log on and play normally for an hour, then after another login attempt-splash screen and hang. Deleting the preference folder did work several times, but I'm not going to reset my UI every time I wish to play. Guess I'll just wait till CCP gets this sorted out.

Tegho, mine is doing the exact same thing as you, AND i cant get eve to work on my pc either IM TOTALY F*KED.
I tried downloading the full client 3 times and patch it 2 times and nothing, dumped the preference, nothing changed, and on my pc...i get the dominion screen then when im about to enter the log in screen it goes black and i have to ctrl-alt-del to get out of it because it become unresponsive.........
good thing i put a 30 f*in day skill because im sure they wont be able to fix this by tomorow, if there is anything to be fixed that is........they will rpobly tell me your system does not meet minimum system requirments blah blah ...anyways i just hope they can do somthing about it

Similar problem here.
Worked at first, then froze and could not log in. Cleared the preferences. Rebuilt UI and overview settings. Played for a little while then froze and upon restart got stuck at splash screen. Deleted preferences again and seems to work but for how long?

as much as I would love to have the new leopard software it costs $100. now the issue we were addressing is why dominion will not load at all. Does anyone know how to generate some kind of error report?
