Has decent speed(200-420 with AB), very hard damage output and with over 5000 shield and a boost rate of about 200% you have qite a lot time until your tanking is broken. (117 shield for 60 energy/3 sek). I like it, but a little bit slow anyway. Amplifier over hardener, as the % bonus decline the higher your skill in BC. And it saves cap for tanking.

I used my Ferox to do tons of lvl 3 missions. So here's my 2 ISK.
Hi: 2x Medium Nosferatu 5x Heavy Missile Launcher (2x EM, 3x Kinetic)
Med: Large Shield Booster II Named 17.5% Cap Recharger Fleeting Webber Shield Hardeners
Low: 3x PDS I 1x BCU I
Drones of your choice. I prefer a mixture that does EM and Thermal damage.
This setup has survived quite a few cruiser spawns thanks to the damage/rof mod on launchers. Even tho the cap drainage on shield booster is quite large, the nos's should help you out. Webber is there to stop intys while drones & launchers take them out fast. Lvl 3 missions are quite easy on this one ^^

Um since someone earlier requested a Ew ferox , Heres one but i havent used this setup yet so it might suck
High Slots : 5x heavys launchers fitted with Kinetic and Emp , Med Slots : 3x mutispectral , 1x Cap recharger ll ( tech ll if you can afford it ) and 1x Xlarge Shield booster ll , or Medium shield booster ll , tech two ofcourse low slots : 4x power diagnostics , tech 2 like agin if you can afford it. Ok with this setup it will probably drain your cap fast but just give it a try , oh yeah its for pvp / ew

The NPC setup I'm currently using and am pretty happy with is:
Highs:
5 Named Launchers (XR-3200 ? something like that) 2 200mm Scouts
Mids
Large sheild booster II Boost Amp 2 NPC appropriate hardners 10mn AB2
Lows:
2 BCU 1 PDU 1 CPU
It almost (within a few points) fits without the CPU, few more days of training and I can drop the CPU in favor of a second PDU. Cap goes pretty quick with the booster running continuously, but I've rarely had to leave it on on level 3 missions except when things go bad and I'm warping out anyway, usually just turn it on for a couple of pulses when shields are getting a bit low then turn it off again

Used a variation of this setup and it's safe as ****. Though I have replaced the Dual 150's with Small Lasers to give extra space for loot and they have slightly better tracking.

With this setup that you guys seems to like (only concentrated on later posts being that patches may have altered effectiveness of earlier posts) - what are your battlecruiser skill lvl's that make these setup's effective. My character has low perception and willpower - lvl 5 is a 42 day train from lvl 2 - whereas lvl 4 is just 7 days for me.

I have very low skills, under 1 million at the moment infact but I can do every lvl3 mission (including the extravaganza) with this setup;
High 5 * Heavy Launchers (from memory 1 Arb, 3 Limos, 1 Malk) 2 * 250mm Carbide Railguns
Med 1 * EM Hardner 1 * Therm Hardner (named) 1 * 32.5 Kin Resister thingy 1 * Medium Shield Booster II 1 * 10mnAB
Low 4 * Power Diagnostic Unit 1
One thing which I have found that makes a huge difference, take the time to get your battlecruiser skill up. I have mine up to lvl4, getting 5% extra shield resistances each lvl does make a really big difference.

the missile and rail complement nicely, three launchers are way better for pesky frig intys and what not, best set at 35-40k range (thorium rounds work great), have never met a lvl 3 mission i couldn't sleep through

I want to know how you do silence the informant in a cruiser.....tried it with a caracal.....30 seconds later i was forced to warp out as the devastators at the warp in point raped my shields in no time at all.Merc commanders tank and do TONS OF DAMAGE,em/thermal specifically,which caldari ships are weakest.I had to warp 3 times out in 2nd stage ffs.Hell even the 110k mordus rat is easier to kill than a merc commander.
Heres what i use :
5x heavy launchers 2x 250mm guns(mainly used to shoot the occasional frig at long range,the damage these 2 guns put out is near-nil)
T2 med shield booster(there is NO need for a large shield bosoter or T2 large shield booster on a level 3 mission running ferox,nothing is going to hurt you THAT much,except mercs in silence the informant,and that doesnt matter as you cant run the T2 med shield booster long enough cap wise to run out of shield)
10MN T2 AB(if you dont want to spend a year and a half docking or getting to acceleration gates,use this)
3 passive hardeners.Active hardeners need higher skills,that i dont have.I probably will switch to 2 active hardeners with a shield boost amplifier when i can.Obviously tank the appropriate resists.
3x BCUs,1 PDU.The 4th BCU IMHO will do nearly nothing,better to have more shield,faster shield recharge and faster cap recharge than 5 more missle damage or something.

Setup ftw imo PVP:
5x Arb. Heavies 2x Med Nos
1x 10MN MWD 1x 20K Scram 1x 10K Web 2x T2 Cap Recharge
1x T2 Medium Armor Rep 1x T2 Small Armor Rep 2x Armor Hardeners
I've had a lot of fun using this setup. People get surprised when the realize I'm not shield tanking, and then they usually end up running or dieing.
NPC/Mission Level 3 setup:
2x 250 Protos 5x Named Heavy
1x T2 10MN Afterburner 1x Shield Booster T2 2x Hardeners 1x Tracking Computer 2, or Cap Recharge T2
2x Ballistic Control 2x Cap Power Relays
Works for me

Hello ppl.
My mission setup for my ferox is:
Hi: 5 x Arbalest Hvy Missiles, 2 x 200mm prototype rails Med: 1 x T2 Medium Shield Booster, 1 x T2 Large Shield Extender, 2 named hardeners (depending on enemy damage), 1 x T2 Cap Recharger Low: 1 x Ballistic Control system, 3 x T2 Power Diagnostic Systems
I can run the booster almost indefinately and I can solo absolutely all lvl 3 missions in this setup. Only thing I cannot solo is the bonus level (750k raven rat) in extravaganza. If he gets to ~50% shields I can take him down though, while tanking the whole rest of the complex stage in the meanwhile. In any lvl3 whatsoever I never got myself below 50% shield with this setup.
Ah btw, it also swaps any 4/10 complex clean easily :>

Right, this is my setup:
5 Heavy Launchers 2 150mm Railguns
1 Large Shield Extender II 1 Active Thermal Hardener 1 Active EM Hardener 1 Passive Kinetic Hardener 1 Medium Shield Booster II
3 PDU Is 1 Ballistic Control
On the second stage of that mission the AB is useless - the Merc Commanders will travel twice as fast as you anyway and also the webifier completely nulls it. It's a far better idea to just use it as another 'tank' slot.
Basically, you warp (on top of commanders unfortunately) and you take out the webifier with one or two launchers and your guns (it will get within range quickly).
Get ready to turn and warp out once it's dead.
With your shield tank you shouldn't go below about 30% shield (at least, I didn't) as the Medium Booster and the hardeners can go running a very long time before you run out of Cap (the PDUs help). ---------------------------

Why not use capacitor power relay 2 in ur low slots insteed of PDU? u dont need shield boost bonus when u use for example medium shield booster 2...
With 3-4 capacitor power relays u can easily infinit shield tank with ur booster and u dont need to worry if the enemy's gets to close with ur Launcher Ferox. 
I Have abo****ly no problem with even the hardest deadspace missions...

Im flying a Ferox, only 1.3m skill points, so I know you all can take this and expand on it.
I do all level 3 missions, Extravaganza's, Silence the Informant, everything solo, no problem.
5 Malkuth Heavy Launchers (I use Malkuth for less cpu, you can fit better)
med- 2 hardeners large shield booster II shield boost amplifier 15% Cap Recharger I
low- BCU, 3x PDU I
All the gear is quite inexpensive, shield booster aside, and works amazingly together.

The EVE-I Object Explorer has all the various types of Rats. Under Entities/Pirate drones. Tells you the damages AND more importently the Shield and Armour resistances. Right now your useing 1 missile for all types however if your smart about it you`ll look up the weakest shield resist and armour resist and taylor your attacks.
For Example i fight Serps with my raven i load my 1st 2 shots with EMP Torps to batter shields down. followed a few seconds after with 4 Thermal torps. And also stagger your shots so your hitting 1 at a time regularly. not 5 in one hit. I find that more effective on bigger ships u cant kill in 1 volly

Cap power relays nerf the shields way to much for a ferox. a Propper shield tanked ferox with some PDUII's will handle Level 4 missions. True you have to run away and recharge alot but its doable

Hi, I took Polaris Lumine's idea with 2 Large Shield Extenders and changed it a little
Basically on my ferox with my skills I have
5 X Malkuth Heavy Launchers
1 X Tech 2 Medium Shield Booster 2 X Tech 2 Large Shield Extenders 2 X Named Thermal/Kinetic Shield Hardener
4 X Tech 2 Power Diagnostic Systems
I get the following stats:
Capacitor of 2431 and recharge of 280 seconds
This also gives me a shield capacity of 8294 and recharge of 509 seconds.

Nice one on the cruise launcher, but the rest is quite a mix.
- SB AFAIK will destroy your own missiles and drones. Best to leave it off.
- 250mm while nice, is a little crap on it's own.
- IMHO, i am not sure of the numbers... try:
1 Cruise 1 Assault 3 Heavy 2 200mm
- Mediums, if you can, go all-passive or all-active. No use un sitting the middle-ground.
