sorry for the question, but somebody can explain this for a newbie? what does it mean dps? thanks.

Damage Per Second = DPS - means that in this case with no resistance to damage types the poster can absorb 290 points of damage i.e. can take it and repair it naturally or with boosters per second

4 X Tech 2 Power Diags also :) ran out of CPU to fit any BCU's
10,5k shields, crazy. I tried Shield Hardeners first, but found out, that my cap will be dry in few min and decided to downgrade to passive hardeners. The loss of resistance is very small, compared with the ability to run it infinite. _________________________ WANTED Dead or Alive

For comparison, the 250mm I gun with antimatter fitted has a base dmg mod of 2,75 and a ROF of 6,38. The mediumsized antimatter charge will do 24 dmg. So (2,75/6,38)*24 = 10,3 damage per second.
So you would never get a single hit on armors, if less then 28* 250mm I Railguns would shoot at you, all loaded with Antimatter Shells.
Ofc in real they will do more dmg, due to ship- and skillbonus. This is just an excample. Fit a weapon of choice at any ship you have and then calculate the DPS of your weapon. Multiply it with the amount of guns you have fitted and then you will have a feeling how much ~300 dps are ;) _________________________ WANTED Dead or Alive

Ehhh... I was looking last night, but I can't find any Shield Power Relay II in the market in Lonetrek.. Aren't they in game? Or just not near enough?
What do I use for replacement? A plain Shield Power Relay?
Shield power relay = -35 cap recharge rate bonus 20% shield recharge rate bonus
Shield Power Relay II = -35 cap recharge rate bonus 27,5% shield recharge rate bonus -10% powegrid bonus.
Will I need that 10% powergrid bonus to fit everything? Or can I just go for the cap and shield recharge bonuses?

Thanks, I'll keep looking for them tech 2 Shield power relays. I hope they're ingame.
And in the mean while I'll just be a bit less efficient by using the powegrid booster mods that I DO find in game ;) No cap recharge or shield recharge bonus I guess.
Thanks Loka.

If you want a giggle try this:
5x 150mm Rail II 2x Assault Launcher 2x Hardners 3x Large Shield Extender II 4x Shield Relay II
Sooooo much shield it sickens me....
I am a perfectly normal human worm baby, so if you stinky monkeys want to die, go for a booster setup.
Try before you flame!

Edited by: hundurinn on 07/10/2005 14:46:44 I'm currently fit with
High - 4 x 250mm Compressed(Uranium, Iridium), 2 Heavy Launhcers(Havoc, Widowmaker) Med - Shield Booster I, AB 10nm, 2 shield hardeners, cap recharger Low - Magnetic Vortex, 3 pds I
I can handle 4 cruisers with no problem but interceptors are another matter. 3 interceptors tear right through my shield. When the interceptors are on me my guns can't hit them. What can I do to handle them?

You can try to replace your heavy launchers with assault launchers (standard missiles should do better damage against smaller targets) and don't forget to use some drones (up to 5 medium on a Ferox).

Here is a kinda off the wall sugestion for anyone on level 2 agents and own a ferox. I know what your thinking, a ferox in a level 2 agent mission? Yes.. OVER kill is an understatement. But, I keep my ferox in my hanger for the level 2 rogue drone missions ( there are 2 of them ). And here is my setup ( and reasoning behind using the ferox for these 2 missions ).
HIGH: 1x Arby Heavy Missle Launcher 2x e50 Medium Nos 4x Named Medium SMARTBOMBS
MED: 1x Named Medium Shield Booster 1x Shield Amp 1x Active Thermal Hardner 1x Medium Cap Battery 1x Cap Recharger
LOW: 4x PDU2
The above setup is made better by tech2. The med slots you can play around with. Keep in mind, you must be able to tank every single drone in the complex at the same time.
Apon warp in, target 1 drone from every group. No matter the range, pull them in towrds you with your heavy launcher ( or railgun ). As soon as the first drone is in range, tag it with your nos. Engage your hardner, soon enough you will have a hand full of drones whacking you. Engage your shield booster, your tank should be at about 50% ( with constant booster ) by the time all the drones are in orbit at 1km from your ferox. Now the next part is simple. Engage your 4x Medium Smartbombs of drone doom. two cycles from your smarties should be enough to pop every single drone around you. Well that was fun, you just completed your drone mission in about 5 minutes. And the real reward is being able to loot every single can and not having to move an inch, they are all within loot range!!! Those alloys melt down prety good. If you want somthing fun to do, I sugest trying this. I know I get a kick out of it.

Edited by: VaderDSL on 12/10/2005 12:01:34 I myself find resistances better than shield HP's for tanking, I use the following for guristas mission:
High
5 X Heavy Launchers (1 X Arbalest // 4 X Advanced Limos) - soon to be T2 Launchers 2 X 150mm Railguns (2 X 150mm Prototypes)
Mid
1 X T2 Large Shield Booster 2 X T2 Active Shield Hardeners (Kinetic + Thermal) 1 X T2 Passive Thermal Shield Hardener 1 X Webifier (For Taking out Frigates)
Low
3 X T2 Power Diagnostic Systems 1 X Ballistic Control Unit
I can tank the Guristas lvl 3 Extravaganza missions without any worries, I can take on 9 cruisers (mix of Nullifier, Silencers, Terrorists, Anhililators) and about half a dozen frigates also without much of a problem, I can also tank two Sentry Gun II's and two Guristas Heavy Missile Turrets (their widowmakers do 99 damage every half a minute or so)
For easier misions I replace a T2 PDS for a BCU and remove the Webifier and fit a T2 10mn Afterburner.
When the new shield skills come out I'll probably stick a named Damage Control mod in a low slot, and use three T2 passive hardeners - depending if the active hardeners get a resistance bonus or not.
Either way - I will have better resistances when the new skills come out. Might even go for Battlecruiser lvl 5 also - I have all my Engineering skills at lvl 5 now anyhow so I might as well maximise my shield tanking ability.
IMO you have to have either Light Missiles or 150mm Railguns on your ferox to cope with lvl 3 missions - combine the 150mm Railguns with 8-10 Light Drones and you can take out webbing frigates very quickly which is what you want to be able to tank the bigger stuff. Especially on missions such as Spy Stash where you jump in and two very fast Pith Eliminators web you immediately - you need them taken out quickly which is where a Webifier, 2 X 150mm Railguns and 8 Light Drones come in very useful - allows you the use of the remaining 5 Heavy Launchers to start taking out the bigger cruisers/sentry guns.
The only downside to a Ferox is slightly low DPS and lack of agility/speed - but damn you can tank in this ship :)

Edited by: Emperor Muhaddib on 20/08/2005 16:12:37 5 x heavy ML ( I use Malkuth at moment i normaly use scruge but as i get the other one's as loot i loade upp whit them ) 2 x 150mm prototype I gauss gunn ( I use smal hydbrid for frig's i normaly use antimater amo )
1 x Large Shield Extender II's 1 x med Shield Extender II's 1 x Named Thermal Passive Hardener 1 x Named rat specific active Hardener (Therm or Kin typically for me) 1 x 10 Mn AB
4 x Local power plant manager's: reaction shield power relay I
This results in a shield hp of around 6528 with a recharge rate of 307,20 secs (skills dependent)
In the damage compartment regarding the missil i get steady 120-->192 damage a missil depending on its shield , armor or hull i am pounding .i seldom use my missils agains frigs sins the damage suck bigg .
But my 150mm prototype I gauss gunn can handle the frigs whit ease , but the web's can be hard just whit my rails so drones coms in hand agains them .
my shield seldom gos under 70% but can go down to as mutch as 20% on the hardest lvl 3 missions befor start going upp again. i have never lost a BC after using this combo
I also have 4 light drones and 3 medium drones whit me at all time,i can only use 7 drones
I never have trubble in lvl3 missions whit this combo so good luck trying it oute ........

I'm working on a setup to tank a specific spawn that frequents our regular mining system for when our APOC isn't around:
1 x Guristas Mortifier (Moa w/ Bloodclaws) 2 x Guristas Terrorist (Osprey w/ Bloodclaws)
This is what I've been testing against smaller rats so far:
Hi's: 3 x NOS (to keep them aggro'd so they don't warp to my miners) 2 x ? (Miner II's would be nice)
Mid's: 1 x Large named shield booster (T2 when able) 2 x Large extenders 1 x Thermal resist 1 x Recharger
Low's: 2 x RCU 1 x CPR 1 x Shield flux coil
I've tested it up to 40 dps so far, which it handled easily without any boosting. I'd like to get some input on how to make it better though. I don't see much mention of the Flux Coils anywhere....are they worth fitting, or should I pad my cap recharge more?

Has anybody actually read the description of the Fearox ?
High: 2 x 250 Compressed Coil Guns (if U have ISK the Prototype) 2 x Arbalest Assault Launchers 2 x Heavy (Advanced) launchers (if U have ISK the Arbalests) 1 x Medium Proton Smartie
Medium: 1 x 10mn Afterburner T2 1 x Thermal Shield Hardener (or Med Shield Booster T2) 1 x ECM Jammer (the 7.2 version) 1 x Target Painter T2 1 x Signal Amplifier
Low: 1 x Magnetic Vortex Stabilizer 1 1 x Fourier Tracking Enhancer 2 x Reactor Control Unit 1 (or mayby just one but T2)
Iron/Antimatter Ammo, Thermal Missiles and Hammerheads.
The most important thing in this ship are the pilot's skills, U'll need some more than let's say a ship that uses guns only and no missiles or EW.For example U'll be using only two guns and their loaded with iron charges so U will need some extra damage output unless U want to poke and tickle the enemy to death, same thing with missiles.
Range and electrotoys are r friend on this one and the shield makes U wonder what the armor is for (dead weight).
Your combat range is 100km, lockdown, paintjob and M82's . They start heading towards you, at 60 km 2 heavy's, at 30 2 light missiles, within 20km Hammerheads and the last ones the smartbomb.

TARGET PAINTER! I don't know how to stress this enough. Most of these setups listed that use heavy launchers don't have them. Even with Target Painting 1 and a target painter you can kill the lvl 3 inties relatively quickly with heavy missles.

My Ferox Setup
Lows: 4 x PDS T2 Meds: 2 x Shield Recharger T2, Large Shield Extender T2, Medium Shield Booster T2, 1MN MWD High: 2 x Heavy ML; 2 Standard ML T2; 1 Small Ghoul; 1 Dual Carbide 150; 1 250 Scout
Shields are 6910 with good recharge. Power load is 75% - 1045/1408. CPU is 96% 547/570. Cap is 1710 which runs the rarely runs dry.
Only have to warp out once or twice on some of the L3s.
As funds and skills increase, my intent is to run all T2.

Med: 1xMed Shield Booster II, 1x10MN AB II, 2xActive Hardeners, 1x Med Shield Extender II
Low: 4xPDU II
4xMed Drones (will be 5 once I get the skill)
I can tank pretty much all the level 3 missions. I'm still scared of Black Market Hub and Silence The Informant can give some trouble.

After all the tips I got out of the forum here so far, here is my Ferox Setup for lvl 3 command agent (Ferox is a bit overpowered for them , but that's just my impression). I just needed a ship that makes my miner's life easy:
High: 5 x XR-3200, different missile types 2 x Medium Nosferatu I
Med: Large Shield Booster II Shield Boost Amplifier I Heat Dissipation Field I Ballistic Deflection Field I for Angels: 'Anointed' EM Ward, otherwise: TargetPainter Low: 4 x PDU II
Drones: 10 Light Scoutdrones, different types, but all T1
This setup uses 569 of 593 CPU, and 1019 of 1405 Grid (ok, I waste a bit of it, on the other hand i have enough room to switch to t2 stuff). I don't need to warp out, mostly I even don't need the the shield booster. Will see if it works on Black Market Hub, too as it is the first time I do it in a Ferox in a second, but i am optimistic

Medium 1x Large shield extender II 1x Medium shield extender II 1x Medium shield booster II 2x Shield resistance amplifiers (em + kinetic)
Low 4x Power Diagnostic Units II
I am having problems with black market hub though, shields are gone within minutes on the first stage.

Ok this is my setup for level 3 mission , I have low SP (2M). I've made "The Spy Stash" Yesterday without Warp out.
HS : 2* XR-3200 Heavy, 3* Limos Assault, 2* 150mm Carbide MS : 1* AB,2* Large shield extender t2, 1* Passive Hardener, 1Á Active Hardener LS : 3* PDU t2, 1* Shield Power Relay
9K Shield, correct recharge rate, in "the Spy Stash" shield never go below 40%.

Edited by: vanBuskirk on 25/10/2005 08:53:13 Very skill-heavy setup, but:
High: 250 rail x3, heavy launcher x4
Mid: em, kinetic and thermal hardeners, med shield booster II, large cap battery
Low: 3xPDU, 1 ballistic
For the guns, load with AM or plutonium and keep some iridium in the hold. When you come into a new room, let rip with everything on the stuff close to you; when you have killed them switch to long range ammo and you shouldn't get hit at all after that.
I've done BM Hub with this setup without warping out. The trick is the large battery; it means you can autorepeat the booster just long enough, even on the hardest missions.
In my opinion the tech II booster is essential, though I suppose faction or officer stuff would probably be better. But I'm cheap, and don't want to put modules on the ship worth twice the cost of the ship!
Don't forget a bay full of drones for the little stuff, of course.
Bookmark the loot, and come back in a fast hauler; I use a Sigil with 5 nanofibres and an AB, which does just under 800 m/s and manoeuvres like a frigate. ---------------------------------------------- "Violence is the last resort of the incompetent". ---------------------------------------------- |
