Isn't Eve Online have a Pay&Play marketing type? CCP you showed your bad side right now, a greedy one. Everyone know that you are doing it for money. MMO with subscription should not have a microtransactions. Right now you are only destroying your own visions (lie?) of this game.
BTW: "Aurum" - Who came up with that name?

Anyone remember a game that EA games made?
Was like a grand theft auto multiplayer mmo thing, the game was like ú30 to buy then úxx a month, it was pretty good. Then once it came out of beta they instantly released a "Shop" where you bought points with ú for upgrades and stuff, that games player base lasted about a month after beta. The only people that play it are people that never leave the house and have too much úúúúúúú.
Evidently enough all those people cared about was dressing up, pimping there car and using stupid overkill god weapons they payed ú200 for.

I rather suspect CCP didn't invest all that money in the character generator just so it could be used a single time by players to create their avatars or for the occasional re-pose. Giving players a reason to use an expensive-to-develop feature on a regular basis makes a lot of sense. Perhaps the character generator will therefore evolve into some kind of showcase and "fitting room" for all the apparel-related vanity items in the in-game store. There are probably plenty of players who would buy into CCP labeling such activities "gameplay".

why didn't you quit when CCP introduced the PLEX? PLEX is a microtransaction too. I can't get how dumb a lot of EVE players are.

Edited by: Miilla on 28/05/2011 11:45:10 So, CCP is making EVE easier for new players
How come they just complicated the currency system with 3 (THREE) ingame currencies?
ISK, PLEX and now AURUM.
Just asking because they said they wanted to make it easier for new players, this goes in the opposite direction.
They are starting to move all items to the market away from fragmented between contract and markets, but now we have this 3 exchange currencies and 3 stores. One in station for AURUM items, the market, and contracts.

there is a lot of mmos, rts and games with different currencies and nobody complains about that. If you can read you will know how to make an aurum. This aurum thing is the best microtransaction idea ever. you can get through the game, you can get it with real cash and you can get it from a wreck.

Confirming this.
I've used USD, CHF and DEM along with my country's currency back in the 90's. And lets just say that I needed billions of my country's worthless money to buy an ice cream (just to be even more complicated). I was 7 years old when all that started.

lol at plex prices, but hey, i'm sure you are "monitoring it closely".
Oh, and if you wan't to see where MT leads, just look at all the other games that use it. Vanity items my a**, once you get all that nice money from these ppl you will cater to them of course, thats when **** happens and starts to go downhill. But hey, it was fun for 3 years right, you as a company will just move along to the next game and milk it.

Sounds like we're seriously going to need Advanced Infomorph Psychology or some similar skill to give us even more jump clones, now that we can have them just for vanity purposes.
Where exactly will these Aurum stores be? Hopefully we'll have more availability than planetary command centers, which are unpossible to get in nullsec.
I think instead of buying items directly if we could get limited-run BPCs for Aurum, it'd be considerably less unbalancing. Besides, I want to produce clothing. Don't kill my dream.

Since the thread in general was locked in spite of being a good separate discussion, I thought I'd post it here:
http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1517925
Summary: Why not merge PLEX and AUR into one universal currency which can be converted into a tradable medium or spent (in large quantities) on extending our Pilot License? It'd be a superior alternative to having two separate resources which both basically represent the same thing anyway (that being "Real Money Substitute").

WHAT
think before you post herp derp.
The pod has nothing to do with it. Pods don't make wrecks. If you want to wear an outfit at another station you have to move your clothes. They don't magically teleport around the universe. So if you kill someone that had a hat in their cargo hold, there is a change you could loot it.
Or say someone buys a ton of hats for isk in rens and wants to resell in jita. If they get ganked they could lose 1000s of hats! And they could be looted.

Why not just get rid of plex, and buy game time with AUR, and make AUR a second currency that is traded on the market, with exchange rates set by players buying and selling ISK/AUR on the market? This would add a level of complexity, but I would argue not one that is convoluted and unnecessarily complex, but rather one that has complexity which is player driven. On the other hand has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like? ________________________________________________

Your inability to see the differences doesn't mean there aren't any. Whether or not they mean anything to you is another matter, but they seem to be important for others and it's their money so they can choose to spend it how they see fit. The major differences are that PLEXs aren't game content, it's a smart way to mitigate the negative affects of RMT and the supply of ISK you could buy with it was supplied and decided by other players.
Now we have CCP selling an infinite supply of stuff directly to people with no player controls just to get extra money from paying subscribers. It's not all bad, since it doesn't give competative advantages, is limited to fluff items and is made available for normal trading, but it will change how CCP develops future fluff content for the game.
From now on normal subscribers are getting cut off from it in the sense that their subscription payment alone won't cover access to the content anymore, so they have to choose between hobo/default look for their characters/ships/whatever is next or paying extra either in RL monies or ISKies. Not the end of the world, but not much to be happy about either.

I cant believe CCP have introduced another currency when ISK would of been fine!
Not only that but the first batch of content released for Incarna is behind a ******* paywall!!!
Jesus, do they understand that a game thrives on content! Now when WIS is finally released in 2020 everyone will look the same because no-one will use real money to buy other content.
This is a stupid idea and to protest i've just cancelled an alt account forever!
I will NOT be paying RL money for stuff my subscription should cover!!! This is CCP's NGE!
