Just pressing the link and then not "Save" but "Run" and when it freezes, just cancel the download and immidietly press the link again and "Run" and I have already 25% when before I just got about 7%.

Mine sat there doing nothing for ages, and now it's maxxing out my connection... yaay! Bitlord looks quite handy as well, but I wouldn't advise it for the youngsters, what with the XXX chat button :)

This is what happens when you try running the game AND try to satisfy the adicted eveplayers that need to download the patch. Just sit back do something else and after 24 hours try downloading the patch. Seriously it will save a lot of stress and you download the patch fast and clean and if you log in you won't suffer EXTREME lag. I didn't even download the patch but i know from expirience that lag will freak you out when you enter the game. Yes, patchday is always like this and the only thing im hoping for is that after the patch the servers are stabile.

Trashed the file after getting lotsof errors. Got the new seed that was called the same as the old corrupt seed and surprise, it not worked either. no point in uploading something that does not work. when I get a copy that does work will keep it seeding overnight. Currently 5 seeds, 4 peers on the Oveur endorsed link. Using Azeureus with a non standard port seems to help lots. Should be finished in 10-15 minutes Edit:- Could not patch the file because the size or checksum of the file is invalid The patch has NOT been applied, there was an unexpected error applying the patch (patch version could not be determined) Gosh, what a surprise ! There is a snafu, will wait for the devs to check out what should have been checked first time round and get it via the game updater in a day or so....

Then, you can right-click the different mirrors that have been posted, click "download using DAP", "add URL to download sites", and download from all of them at once. The download will still have interruptions but you can just press "switch site" in DAP and keep downloading.

I pay by the month which means I'm paying right now, which means I should be able to play WHENEVER I WANT. Don't tell me to go do something else for a little while cause I don't WANT to do anything else. After a couple years of this you'd think the smart people that came up with such a brilliant game would have a more streamlined patching system. I use just plain Bittorent client. My point is that something IS wrong with it, was wrong and I didnt do anything. Probably you just can't connect to server to get initial info for turrent. So just wait ppl. It's working perfectly once you get into the peers network. PS Ppl keep coming like an avalanche, im uploading 80kb/s

Close any Programs that might be using the file and try again." So i closed bittorrent, even deleted it and it STILL says that :/ its not a huge problem im just a little concerned about the security of my computer, it saying might be in use by another person makes me feel like a port is vulnerable; (no im not very educated on how people can get into your computer, as you can tell heh) -So how do i get rid of it?? ps- the bittorrent was the prog that made it appear on my desktop..

Then the big patch of users all trying the download starts again - takes a while to get mirrors up. Up to 10 mirros would be a better idea whats 60k users x 60MB ? we are talking about 3600 GB of data that needs to be transferred here so its quite a bit - i have patience it seems to be working now that most euro players have got to bed. Aussie should have an easier time of it. An australian / nz download site would be good china isnt working

I tried for the longest time to get the torrent on the website to work, but something it wrong with it. It will initiate the download in the BT client, but the download never starts. It isn't on the same server that is hosting the HTTP downloads is it? pirate website worked fine, I just ignored everything else that except for the torrent link. After you do so, you can prompty close your browser. I use the BitTorrent client, it took about .5 to find a peer and get a response. Its fairly well seeded now. I was getting ~400KB/s on my cable (thats very near max bandwidth for me). If you are having problems with the downloading starting, you may have port issues because of a firewall. You will need to open up ports 6881-6889 for the biTorrent client. NOTE: None of the CPP hosted biTorrents have ever worked for me. Not when downloading the game, nor when trying to download this patch. Remember to leave the BT client running for a while after you download to help seed the file.

Thanks I think it's quite obvious that 2.06.3538 is the latest release, and about equaly obvious it was released today. 2.05.3366 on the other hand, was released on the mentioned date. If you have the newest version and it still says incompatible I'm afraid you might have had a mishap while patching, try rebooting and clearing out parts of your eve cache, if nothing else helpse I'm afraid you'll have to reinstall tho. If you're using FAT boot up into MSDOS (hit F8) and go into Command mode and delete manually. For NTFS there's a product called ERD Commander (it's commercial, so you may need to hunt for a freeware package that allows direct access to NTFS files) then delete from the download directory and desktop. The recovery console doesn't work btw, as it only allows deletions in the Windows directory. There may be other ways, but ERD type programs are the easiest to use. HTH

Would you people please get your act together and act like a commercial software shop that has been in business for more than two years, instead of like some jackass linux outfit running out of someone's basement? Do you think that might be possible? Do you think that perhaps, just perhaps maybe, putting a critical patch (i.e., one without which your customers are denied service) on a RELIABLE server(s) would be a good idea? I also tried to download one from http://www.friendship7.co.uk/files/evepatch3366-3538.exe as further up, i never ran it as it's total size was 100k does the patch routine check an md5 hash before installing if i get it from an unofficial "mirror"? I just had no idea why this patch had to have very long 12 hour down time. If you really had to, you can duplicate your servers and databases, and apply it there, test, when working, let people start playing on there, while you patch the one that was currently running, talk about redundancy. Yes, I know you have a lot of work to do to do this, but with proper resource, and I'm sure you have enough and I'm quite sure it doesn't need 12 hours nor 1 hour everyday downtime. The downtime on my place is from 8pm - 9pm, which I have high chance that I can be playing, but I have to log out, do something else, and come back, which is a slight down side to me all the time. And this thing said, it was 12 hours, in practical it was like 24 hours, since when I came back to the game at the time the patching should be done, I couldn't download the patch, due to server being all choked, my download said it takes 4-5 hours to download the patch, so I just went sleep (btw it was 2am for me when your patching was done). I was in big confused mind, why you didn't distribute the patch to bigger distributing site than just place them in a couple of your europian servers. I checked FilePlanet, only one I could find was something like version 1030... Of all this, I'd like to hear some opinion on this matter, since I'm paying much more to this game than any other casual retail box games and feel things aren't as quite satisfying.

Give people a week or two to get it on their harddrives and ready to patch... do it in steps.. instead of one of the problems being that people can't GET the patch mixed in with the actual patch problems, bugs, etc. When Spybot Search & Destroy requires people to have a later version to continue getting updates, the new software that will be required is out and readily available for over a month before the required flag is snapped into place. Balances the load out very nicely. 3rd party people (players) that helped make the patch day go smoother should be recognised by EVE in some way.. It's bandwidth that could be utilized on something else. It would be like paying your boss to come to work every day.. Or playing in a band, and having to buy a ticket... And I didn't have to worry about corrupted clients, bittorrent, viruses, or any other problems. me too. i snagged the whole shebang. installed it over breakfast this morning then applied the patch. it appeared to work, couldn't check properly because i was already 20minutes late for work. i suggest anyone still getting the checksum error to download the complete client. Bittorrent never worked, maybe it does now, but so does http, apparently there was no one seeding when they released the torrent file. Of course, there was no http download at that moment... who is going to seed??? Besides, it is thankful that many people mirror it 'after' a long time, I'm not accusing the mirrorers of course, I sure as hell hope CCP has downloaded and checked every file that they at least match the md5 checksum or something, and they aren't some *****ed file that has same file size and name, the one it is listed in the first post. Yet it is still possible a malicious mirrorer can swap the file later on to some bad file... I really suggest CCP get a decent distribution model, it was bad.

I installed the EVE client from the original CD I purchased, then attempted to patch it using the client but after numerous failed attempts I moved on and found this file from a mirror and downloaded it: "downloads.eve-online.com Patches version release CD (Released 2003.05.06) to 2.06.3538 142 MB" When I attempt to run that file I get the failed verification message. I know this has probably been asked before, but can someone clearly state exactly what I'm doing wrong, or, what I need to do? I'm not as frusterated as some others just yet because I know a very sweet game is just around the corner from these issues, so I'm hanging in there for now. But, it would be cool to actually get to play the game while I still feel the urge to do so.

Then the power supply blew. It'll be a couple of days before I can get it fixed an I've got a 2nd system that's more than up to running EVE so I've been trying to get it working on that one. 1. Install EVE from the CD and DL the release to 3538 patch. I get a nice fast DL and try to apply it. I get an error message and it quits the patch. 2. Uninstall EVE. REinstall from the CD. DL the patch from a different mirror. Much slower this time, but I get it eventually. Starts to patch but craps out on one of the stuff files. (facerestextures.stuff) This time I made a copy of the EVE directory before patching. 3. Delete the dir with the failed patch. Rename the copy directory and make another copy of the dir. DL the stuff file that failed last time. (even though I've got .937 and the stuff is for 3366) Repatch the game. This time the patch completes without any errors, but when I run the game I get an error and it doesn't start. 4. Uninstall the game. Download the full client. Run the install and it fails part way through the install. So, I can't patch the CD version to current, I can't install the current client, and I can't patch the CD version to 3366 then patch that to current. (no older patches available) WTF is the solution here? This is a clean install of XP pro. I used to run EVE on this machine so I know it's not hardware conflicts. I'm running the latest Ndivia drivers and directX. Nothing else seems to have a problem with this machine so what's wrong with this game?
