Sign here if you think the restriction on ship setups with offlined modules was unneccessary.
CCP should fix the problem with the modules themselves rather than introducing a quick fix that iritates the hell out of everyone. Quick fixes are lazy fixes, and more often than not they don't work effectively.
Who cares if someone travels around in a rifter with 1400mms on it? Or an Enyo with 425s? People can't turn them online and it doesn't harm anyone. (It also looks rather amusing for casual passerbys... )
The fact is that because of this hundreds of effective and valid tactical setups have been nerfed because of some offline modules giving bonuses when not online. Surely it would be better to fix these modules rather than introducing code which nerfs and entire category of ship setup?
Sign here if you agree, and those that don't agree please do not come on here trolling and spamming - either sign or don't. This is purely to show how many people agree.
If that number is not high I wont mention this ever again.
Please note - I do not represent my corp with this topic - my corp has nothing to do with this.
Thanks for reading. ________________________________________________ Stop Whining!!!

Power Management has always been a roll for Pilots and Captains of their craft. Look at the Apollo Program, Huston We Have A Problem. To bring the computer back on line they had to switch things on in space and in the correct order. You can't get much closer to the true feel of being the Master and Commander of your ship then this. Even JFK bolted a large caliber gun to the deck of his PT boat. We want this fixed now not SOON(tm).

I do sometimes put large guns onto small ships simply to move them quickly, as they take up a lot of space I might bolt large guns to a ceptor to save space in the hold for something else, it's one way I use of getting stuff in and out of 0.0, I am sure others do this to.

My guess is that it was done to stop people moving capital ship mods on ceptors. If that's the case then I can see their point (moving 4000m3 of guns on a Crusader is just wrong), but there are much better ways of fixing it. Take the time to do it right please.

I'd be satisfied from a RP perspective with frigs being able to mount dormant capital ship guns, as long as their mass negatively affected the ship's agility by a large amount.
The thing is, I still havn't seen CCP say that this change was made for aesthetic purposes, the only mention I've seen of a reason was that "It was the only way to prevent people from mounting oversized gear," or somesuch - which should be a valid tactical decision, for all that the 100MN AB on a cruiser was overpowered pre-Shiva.

This is the point I agree with...
A module should be able to be switched on to be allowed to fit at all. A X-Large shield booster has no place on a frigate, besides being in it's hold.

I didn't read this whole thread 'cause I saw alot of pointless posts of "signed"...
However here's my thoughts (also posted in the game dev forum)
Since the latest patch, modules off-line still count as using power, thus preventing one from undocking if you are over on power.
This is presently happening to me and my Helios.
I have equiped a Covert-Op II cloak, Scan-Probe Launcher (off-line), an AB, two Cap Recharger I's, one CPU booster and one Small Cap Battery.
Since my scan-probe launcher is offline, I'm at exactly 25 power. I can't undock because the station is adding the 3 power for the scan probe launcher.
Normally I would switch the cloak and probe launcher off-line and on-line in space depending on which I needed.
I would like to know why this is no-longer alowed.
Why give the ability to activate/de-activate modules in space then?
I'm not flying around with a 1400 on a rifter, I'm chosing between search (scan probe) and saftey (cloak). _________________________________________________

signed i assumed this was somthing they were already ont eh way to fixing makes no sense to not allow it, its not a valid tactic ot turn on a module during battle becasue of the 75% cap outage so its fairly balanced that way.
Although i think ull find that u never used to be able to fit a module on the ship if its never able to be onlined i.e 1400 on a rifter never worked because there is not enough pg to fit it

However IMO - just don't allow ships to undock if one of the modules takes up more than the entire powergrid or cpu - that should stop the 1400 rifters...........

limitations = no fun. specialy dumb ones like that. fix the exploits with offlined modules but there is no reason to disable this completely. Are you saying that you just waisted whole bunch of time developing this off/on functionality system into the game to disable it later? There is realy no other reason to keep offlined modules on the ship any more.

IMO this would accomplish CCP's objectives just as well as the currently implemented slop-tastic kludge without axing so many valid setups.

I don't mind the fact that you can't fit a an item that you could never online in the first place, Like a 1400mm on a rifter but with the new patch you can't fit any item that you don't have the CPU/Grid to online. What the point of having the online/offline thing anyway then.

But fix the problem, dont destroy the flexibility of the game...

Well it tottally ****ed up my Covert ops ship.
I had a real sweet set up on it but it meant that I could only have the probe launcher or cloacking device on 1 at a time becuase of CPU restrictions.
Now I have a co-vert ops ship with lots of empty slots as I have more import things to trian than covert ops level 5 Stu

considering this was touted as "new feature" back when it was implemented.. (undocking with an overloaded powercore) -kinda silly that they did this..
whats worse is now i have to unload some hi slot mods when i fill my mids with structure repairs or lows w/armor reps to fix damage... just turning them off does not suffice.. that, more than anything is very annoying..

Signed with caveats:
1) Getting bonuses for offline modules is ridiculous.
2) Fitting modules that you can't possibly online is also dubious, but I thought the game used to have logic preventing that.
however...
If someone is willing to sacrifice active slots to run a convertible setup, CCP should leave it supported. |

I think I have a way this can be fixed, we can have our cake and eat it too.
