Best. Change. Ever.
I resent paying an extra 63m isk each time I get podded and as the previous poster said, it will bring the fun back to Eve. Especially for those of us that have been here for over a decade.

EVE has many penalties for death, and the stigma of losing your pod won't really change, in my opinion. I think you believe this change is a slippery slope, and from the standpoint of death being harsh maybe it seems like it.
But CCP seems to have a longer term plan with our clones. These guys are making sweeping changes to their game world and they seem to have some kind of vision. Maybe we don't always need to assume that their long term plans are detrimental to EVE.
You think Vets sit on stations or gates in T3's to repeatedly kill newbies because they're afraid of losing in a frigate fight DUE TO CLONE COST? It's about wanting to farm easy kills, and no loss of clone ISK or SP costs will change that behavior. It's very delusional to think that vets don't take frigates simply because they're afraid of the costs. They take bigger, more powerful ships because they want to win more than they lose.
Wrong. Many vets have complained about feeling priced out of fun frig roams. |

I don't care about clones - as long as I will be able to ransom a pod, if you can't do that anymore than the change is pure fail.
Perhaps let you scan implants when ship scanning a pod or finally let us extract implants from frozen bodies? |

I have lost BS 5 on more than one occasion. Not unhappy to see these changes at all, otten fly ships cheaper than the clone and to get smart bombed at a gate in low sec..... yeah over the lost clone cost. So sorry OP, disagree, happy with the changes, just hope to see more content to replace it. |

Game design 101: Skinner boxes punish forgetfulness. We see that in the monetization of frustration with Pay-to-Win games.
Good game design prioritizes trade-offs. Ship fitting is about trade-offs. What do you think tiericide and all the rebalancing has been all about? Trade-offs make sandbox games more fun, punishment trains avoidance. We don't want players to avoid PvP.
Good skill-based games do not punish forgetfulness. In fact they often account for it by giving you an "out". Forgot to buy healing potions before heading out into the wilderness? Lucky you, that baddy you managed to kill dropped a couple. Neither Elite, nor Privateer were skill-based. They were item-based. Most modern games are hybrids.
CCP Darwin hit the nail on the head. When one "choice" is so overwhelmingly bad, there's little reason to keep it.
If you feel you need to be punished every time you get podded, feel free to send me 100M ISK each time.
You're joking. Do you even play EvE? Every time you lose a ship in PvP, that's "punishment" via isk not to undock. No, losing a ship in PvP is not punishment. It is a reward for the other player(s) and a consummation of risk for you.
You're not forgetting to avoid PvP, you chose the risk knowing you might lose. Try again.

The Incarna rage was about a number of things: outrageous prices in the NeX, far too little content delivered, pay-to-win being contemplated, aurum... But the the backdrop for all of this that caused the shooting of the statue was that they did these things instead of the myriad fixes and overhauls to the game that were needed. POS and sovereignty are still broken for that matter, but CCP Seagull seems to have a bead on them as well.
They're modernizing Eve On-line. Clone costs are one of the design quirks that keep veteran and younger players from mixing it up, in the same fleet or in opposition.
If your original statement was meant to be understood such that you were only talking about clone costs being fine for 10 years, then I believe that is still not correct. People have been complaining about for at least 7 years.

We also don't need ship crews added into the game as some people suggest. If I were supreme dictator of EVE I'd gut the crap out of her and reduce it all down to skills, ships, and modules. Then we need a new server for the old version of EVE updated with some reasonable streamlining of stuff that exists in the old/core version of EVE. That way CCP can please you by gutting EVE like they're doing already but even more, while pleasing people who enjoy the original. It's going to be a coke vs coke-zero debacle anyway. Let's get this over with. I'm not saying you shouldn't have as much fun as you want, but I enjoyed EVE as it was. That game is going away. You're alternatively saying I shouldn't have as much fun as I want because you've decided certain mechanics should go.
Your definition of "fun" is paying a stupid linear fee every time you go pvp in nullsec?

Removing clone costs is a terrible idea. Here's why I think that is.
Clone costs add an extra cost to war, and an extra risk. If you're fighting and you're podded repeatedly (let's say your station is camped), those clone upgrades add up. Eventually, you'll run out of money. Then what do you do? You either risk losing skill points, or surrender. Now I know what you're thinking: That's a remote possibility, that's a low-chance scenario... However you might put it, there's only one place where I can imagine this happening: Nullsec.
Let me tell you what I think. And CCP, please correct me if I'm wrong. I think the Null power blocs are upset with CCP for taking away their wtfpowerprojection via the new jump mechanics. And given that they have voices in the CSM, they have a perfect channel for telling CCP so. I think that removing these clone costs is CCPs way of appeasing these power blocs. I think that removing clone costs will in some way give them back their power projection. Think about it: if they don't have to worry about clone upgrades, then they can just fart around the universe via the pod express, implants are rare out there anyway because of the risk of getting podded. And of course they can (and will) find ways to keep assets in places that they know they can clone to. Yeah, they can do that anyway. But right now, it costs them.
Someone please tell me I'm wrong (I would love to be wrong), and more importantly, tell me why I'm wrong. Give me a solid, well-reasoned explanation.

Yes, my hat is made of tin foil. Look how shiny it is. Look at it.
But can you seriously tell me that someone hasn't at least suggested that? Am I really the only one who sees how this change could be abused in this way?
E: I didn't ask for hard facts, I asked for reason. Give me one good reason, just one, that it is absurd to think that the blocs have CCPs ear in that way. If you think about it, it seems plausible. Unless I'm horrifically mistaken, those jump changes really rained on their parade. Of course they'd want some other way to keep their power and the projection thereof.
