What you're suggesting with rotating down-times means that people who perform work on these servers would have rotating shifts, sleeping at various times of the day/night throughout the week. I dunno if you've ever tried this, but it causes lots of insomnia and exhaustion in the work-place.

The people who work for CCP are just like you, they want a steady work-schedule; this is the schedule they feel maximizes their efficiency. We all know things don't always go according to plan.

I work shift work chief. Like millions of other people worldwide, and barely get compensated for it. I doubt CCP servers are located in Perth's time zone, and if they are then the poor bastards work at 7-8PM every night. They dont have to rotate every day ofc. How about for half the year hawaii cops it and the other half we cop it.

We all know things don't always go according to plan. yes security guards, firemen, policemen, hospital staff all suffer greatly from strange hours.. its not for everyone but then again u dont have to work there if u dont like the hours no? with current unemployment rates world wide im sure theres someone willing to work the hours. Wont work those hours ? fine well find someone who can. Not like these guys are getting paid with peanuts.

Having played many a game run by disintegrating publishing houses in the past with regular 9 hour server maintenances (non-extended, by the way) has left me desensitized to long downtimes. Luckily though in EVE because of skill queues I keep making progress even when the server is uncooperative. We've got it good here, guys.
