Okay, first of all, episode 1 is here:
LISTEN TO THIS
I decided to try to make a podcast about solo and small gang pvp, and Kovorix was nice enough to jump on board. The hope is to create a cool discussion with the purpose of helping guide upcoming pvpers towards a more enjoyable play experience. The result will be pretty nerdy, we aren't necessarily trying to be funny or dramatic, but we want to make up for that with good content.
I'm totally new to podcasting so for now there won't be an RSS feed or itunes hosting or professional editing, but I don't think that will be a big issue.
Please give it a shot and drop us feedback here on eveo.
And don't worry this isn't replacing videos =)
oh and PS - please someone come up with a good name for us, we really can't figure that one out |

pretty cool not podcast thing.
can definately see how this would benefit people who are less experianced with pvp.
i'd like to hear your views on target calling, and how you prioritise at the start and during a fight. (i know this was touched on in the fight example, but as a subject in itself)
anywho a good start hope it continues

Thanks!
That is definitely something we plan on talking about in depth, and it will also come in virtually every fight we talk about... it certainly is a complex topic that deserves time. |

i really enjoyed hearing about the small gang pvp in general, it doesn't get enough recognition in conversations with other players sometimes and with the patch updates it is never the real focus. |

Excellent :-) Very helpful indeed! The two of you work well together, great synergy.
Obsession with survival is exactly why sometimes its so hard to get good fights. People fear fair even fights. The less of that obsession people have, the better Eve gets.
The part about range was insightful. (24k points, Heavy Neuts, etc...) I enjoyed the battle analysis as well.
Thanks you. Looking forward to more in the future :-) |

A podcast by two of my favourite video makers?! Yes please!
I really liked it. Even though I already know most of the stuff you guys covered in your first episode, it was still a really interesting listen and I eagerly anticipate the next one.
Personally I think it would be really cool if you got some other well known solo pvpers on to interview them about their tactics and thought process when they are out soloing. Garmon and Willl Adama are two obvious choices that come to mind.
Also one topic that is of high interest to me is the process you guys go through to find regular good fights. Is it just pure luck or is there a certain amount of careful planning of routes and roaming times that you both find are more inducive to good fights against small gangs as opposed to blobs or empty space. I can't quite express into words how happy I am with you guys doing a non-podcast like this! I hope you enjoy it and keep it up (but don't burn out and don't let it take away from pew pew time!).
I'll second Aldap's request in hearing about taking out drones + heavy neut vs smartbomb or possibly both, sacrificing a gun even (OMG blasphemy!).
I'd also like to hear in depth about how you guys go about getting people to engage you and make mistakes + consciously and unconsciously splitting their own gang up not just by burning around on grid.
Anyway, this definitely gave me some more motivation to go solo and try out some new tactics, hopefully it did the same for others! |

Yeah, have just got to the end. Good stuff actually. Keep it up.
You definitely can never expect to voice all new and unique things for each and every man listening to you, so don't take it way too serious :)
I know some might have had a feeling of the stuff you guys were talking about, but I guess not all of them could summarize it even for themselves. I mean, there are certain things I for one tend to perform mostly intuitively without paying much attention to why they worked out for me or why they didn't. You kind of address some these things. Getting it sorted out in one's head surely helps
As said, awesome remark on the Falcon. I still can't stop giggling.

I really enjoyed the "raw" aspect of the podcast. Straight to the juicey stuff and the presentation/discussion was clear and laid back!
Great start. I really hope more of it will follow.

Forum ate my first post...
short version:
Great podcast , unique in its kind (I think), interesting subjects especially first part about decisions making during fight. Good stuff. Bit long though (short attention span here).
I also would like to know the answer to the question from Laktose about finding GF.
I myself was wondering if you fit differently for low sec fight than for null sec fighting. I often read about or see fit where people choose for an AB over an MWD and say its because they fight in low sec (to beat turret tracking in close range fights I am guessing). Or is this only relevant for frigs?

Excellent! Lots of interesting information in there. Been hoping this kind of podcast would come along for pvp aspirants and now finally its here YAY!
If this had been around when I first started would definitely not have spent 2 years doing missions "preparing" myself for PVP
Love the PVP roundtable format and hope you do keep bringing out new episodes every 2 weeks as promised. Congrats and well done.
p.s. maelstrom solo pvp = awesome PVP OH JA! |

Really great stuff guys, I enjoyed listening to this today.
I have a small suggestion, if you are going to talk about particular engagements maybe you could link the kill board summary and fittings used on the other ships for completeness. Then people can piece together the battle from your commentary and from the final outcome. CCP Nullarbor | Exotic Dancer |

Thanks so much for all the kind comments guys. I think both kil2 and I were a little unsure of this format, but it's good to hear people are enjoying it.
Aldap wrote: I have a question perhaps you could talk a bit about in one of the next episodes. In solo situations, when do you take out enemy drones, rather than the enemy ship. When do you switch damage, and how much, just use your drones? maybe add a web?
Because I see in many videos, people have like 10-15 drones on them, and ignore them completely. And say even in active shield booster fits, with a smartbomb fitted, and 20 enemy drones working on your tank, they still don't activate the smartbomb (because its not worth the cap it would take?)
Haeri wrote: I'll second Aldap's request in hearing about taking out drones + heavy neut vs smartbomb or possibly both, sacrificing a gun even (OMG blasphemy!).
That's something that definitely comes up every time i'm deciding how to fit. we can definitely talk about it as it intersects fitting and target calling.

This is a really big one, and I think something everyone does differently. We'll address this for sure.

Low sec vs. null sec will be explored, especially since I have a bit more experience with the former and kil2 with the latter.

Loved it guys! Great work, and an original idea (with actual good content!)
I think another topic worth discussing would be the pros and cons of each weapon system, and why you would use each one in small gang/solo pvp. I'd like to hear how weapons such as Railguns would actually be applied ;)
Can't wait for the next one! |
