Tranquility will undergo an extended downtime on Tuesday, 15 April. The start time is 1100 GMT and the length of the downtime is expected to be three hours. During this time, a patch will be applied to Trinity consisting of fixes and improvements.
Patch Notes are now available. Updates to the notes may be added over the weekend as more items are cleared through the Quality Assurance process. These updates will be highlighted with green text. Please keep all patch discussion and feedback in this thread.
Please note: Training a long learning duration skill ending after the scheduled return to service is recommended.

I guess Cpu fitting requirement is a filter option now. so those lowest fitting requirements can be at top or bottom of list.. useful
What about fixes for the OVERVIEW and the fleet windows moving all over the place? No mention of them in the patch notes.
May be a bit early, but waiting a month for this annoying 1.1 'feature' to be fixed, is just grrr

There's been an option from the beginning to disable them all. Press ESC, go to General Settings and uncheck the Show Welcome Pages box. This is a setting per character so you must be past character selection to see the option.

More information as to how your going to collect the info and what exact info you will be collecting is certainly in order. Having a fill in the answers or a voluntary one time scan that tells you all that is collected and gives you a copy in a txt file is reasonable, automatic with no way of knowing what or how often your collecting is unreasonable.

We believe that this star's intensity and oscillating frequency may have caused temporal anomalies and thus it appears in two release notes. It also contributed to a drop in FPS.

As Hagen Stein stated before, you will collect data about graphic cards. Please do it not this hidden way. Ask for it! You are not M$. Or as a question: Which information in detail you will get and which information you have taken until now? This needs a clarification. (I'm sure, most people would give you the information, but not this way.) [Edit] And if it's for future graphics ... if you release new graphis, let's say next year, I'm sure that 50-75% of your player base will have new/other graphic cards. I can't see the sense in it.
In which location we can await to find the settings this time? ;) SCNR |

I'm going to have to agree with the discomfort about how this collection of information on our personal systems is going to happen. The EULA is not relavent since precedents have already been set in the US courts that abused/excessive EULA's have been thrown out as unenforcable/illegal. (I don't know about Iceland, but we know where your playerbase is)
A simple system like a (one-time) pop-up window I may accept, but I need to see what's being sent *before* it is sent, so that I may cancel it if I am not comfortable with the transaction. But, in-the-background, I-don't-know-what's-going-on type stuff, is, I agree, quite unacceptable.

And the removing of the star was causing the FPS-drop, as the graphic engine tried to render the moons anywhere else... Great bug!

Perhaps CCP should adopt a similar "bug fixes only" attitude until its QA department can catch up? I for one would love to see nothing for the next 6 months but bug fixes and 100% effort spent on making existing features work.

Way to go ccp... another load of b0llocks disguised as work. Really, why dont you try to make the effort to actually fix the bugs you continuously introduce?

(I don't know about Iceland, but we know where your playerbase is)
A simple system like a (one-time) pop-up window I may accept, but I need to see what's being sent *before* it is sent, so that I may cancel it if I am not comfortable with the transaction. But, in-the-background, I-don't-know-what's-going-on type stuff, is, I agree, quite unacceptable.

I don't get why people are freaking out about this. It's your video card for Pete's sake. It's rather obvious what they're going to collect: The model of the card(e.g. Nvidia 8800GTX) and the amount of RAM said card has. What they're not going to collect: Your bank account number, your **** collection, or your secret plans for defeating BoB once and for all.
They probably need to know how many people have SM3 and SM4 compliant graphics adapters should they release a DX10 client or decide to end the classic client. |

Unless you make this optional to participate in you have good chances of seeing privacy issue backlash.
I personally don't care if you know what kind of graphics card I had. But I am glad that you said you intend to collect this information. But collecting this information without asking players consent by past stories I've seen will get you into trouble. |

Yes there are many laws no in plce to cove this and collection of information from anyones pc personal or business should not be a background process and personally unless clarified then i am also prepared to not update to any patch until it is even if that means starting a new online game.

Microsoft already does collect that information. Every time you use Windows update it gets a list of hardware and MS applications so that it can find driver and application updates. WoW does this, SWG does this, half the traditional MP games do this. Your hardware is not considered private info, it has no personal details that could possibly be used for or against you. It's like taking a census of car models that come through a repair shop, how on earth could such data be abused?
And if you don't trust CCP, you shouldn't be installing or running EVE at all. It's not as if there's some magic bit they have to flip to collect data, they could very well be recording all of your bank account info every time you log in. Running executable code means you place an immediate and complete trust in whoever provided that code. ---- FREE Explorer Lead Megalomanic EVE Automated Influence Map |

Unfortunately it seems like CCP has learned absolutely NOTHING from the last year or so..... Classic ostrich approach. Don't mention a problem (even though it's in front of you), and it doesn't exist... "Look ma, no problems! We're a great company! Our product is great!"
Seriously, what happened at CCP? You've lost your ability to communicate, and it seems you've also lost all sense when it comes to prioritising what to fix.... You've added or 'fixed' a lot of stuff in this patch that most people probably couldn't care less about, but the one thing that annoys people on a daily basis gets no attention....
TELL people whether you fixed this or not! If you've fixed it and tell people, the result is they'll be happy. If you haven't fixed it and tell people, the result is they'll be unhappy about the problem not being fixed. If you haven't fixed it and don't tell people, the result is that they'll be unhappy about you not telling AND then they'll be unhappy about the non-fix! It doesn't take a rocket scientist to be able to tell that being forthcoming is the best solution. If your PR dept tells you otherwise, fire them!

I rarely speak in threads like this. I hope that this is heard.
Please, please, please make the reporting of graphics cards data a configurable option that is specified clearly in the installer with a tick box. I realize that it is only minor information and is probably not traceable but it really makes a difference to feel that a company cares about privacy.
I _will_ tick the checkbox on install. I think it is a good idea to capture this information. I would also like the option to turn it off if that is what I wanted to do.

I'm not a lawyer, but it only says that the software may extract system hardware info, it says nothing about sending that info back to CCP.
Even if it did, that should be irrelevant to CCP's attitude towards customers' concerns. It is simply bad form to do so without asking specific permission for sending any given data.
And as many have said, I'd be happy for CCP to have such data, if they ask. CCP should know, though, that many will intend to update their hardware depending on what future EVE versions (especially ambulation) will need.

It seems the CCP person\s responding to the questions in this forum are avoiding any response to the numerous overview bugs. Is it really so complicated to compare the first revision of Trinity and the current version and see what has changed in the UI? I know the problems appear on both the windows classic, and Mac clients. Is the jumping problem limited to the classic graphic content? All of my bug reports come back linked to know issue. If it is a known issue then why has it taken so long to remedy? I mean they deployed a patch to fix a login problem with a small % of the player base, that ended up breaking a lot more than it fixed. Even if they haven't fixed it all, let us know the status, give us an update as to possible workaround, something.

Description: On the premium client, the sound of the strip miner since the trinity release has changed to that of the ordinary mining laser. It¦s a known issue and will be fixed in one of the next patches ...thanks for reporting - BH Warringer

Exactly. This is the reason too, that Vista is not accepted by most people and companies here in Germany (besides the beta stadium of that "OS"). If there is no exact statement what data they're collecting, there is the smell that maybe some more data will be collected. This does not mean, they are doing it, but hiding the details of it will rise some speculations. (what software/games do you have installed too?) If CCP is asking for my graphic card, I would give the information away - actively, but not this way. |

Nope, that is worded correctly. ROF == the number of cycles during a specific time. Reducing ROF means you are reducing the number of cycles during that timeframe.
If you normally fire 4 shots in 10 seconds and now fire 2, your ROF is reduced.
If you normally fire 4 shots in 10 seconds and now fire 4 shots in 20 seconds your ROF is also reduced, by the same amount as the above example.

Can someone clarify?
Nope, that is worded correctly. ROF == the number of cycles during a specific time. Reducing ROF means you are reducing the number of cycles during that timeframe.
If you normally fire 4 shots in 10 seconds and now fire 2, your ROF is reduced.
If you normally fire 4 shots in 10 seconds and now fire 4 shots in 20 seconds your ROF is also reduced, by the same amount as the above example.
OK, but have a look at this (found here):
Originally by: Patchnotes for build 45018
# Need for Speed (drones): The rate of fire for all drones has been doubled to decrease the number of server calls drones are making. Drone damage was doubled to balance the RoF change. Sentry drones and fighters are not affected by any of these changes.
Surely this states that RoF is time per shot (since doubling it halves the number of server calls) as opposed to your shots per timeinterval.
Whoever is right, it's not logical to increase damage (on the Apoc and drones) to counter both increased and decreased RoF.

It is my only hold back from using this great utility for my small operations and cannot believe you guys aded even more features to it without actually fixing that gross over site.

The quote from the old patch notes is worded badly. I remember the discussions when it first came out. Higher rate of fire = shorter time between shots, and vice versa.
Note to CCP on graphics card data: if the driver identifies itself as "winex11.drv" you're looking at a Wine user. Anyone know if the Cedega client identifies itself in the same way?

Regarding the Alt key, I refer you to a post from CCP Tuxford. My personal view is that using overview tabs and Alt+Z work really nicely to switch between current bracket filtering and showing all brackets (note, you need to save an overview setting to a tab). I know that not everyone agrees and we will do another iteration.

If it's any help, I don't know if it's quite related but I have a similar issue with windows that are stickied (the "Resize to Match" arrows) to a window on the top, and that top window gets changed (closed, minimized).
Because I typically have my wallet window attached below the market window, whenever I minimize the market window it raises the wallet up to the top of the screen. I also have this problem with various chat windows, when opening or closing the client they will push whatever windows were moved to the left side of the screen up out of bounds so I have to reset the positions of all my windows.
And it's a relatively new bug, which is the most confusing. Ugh.

An easy way to detect is the following:
Undock, then join a fleet. Wether the windows are pinned or not they will jump across the screen.
Another way: put some chat screens on top of eachother eject some stuff into space and open the can. Put that can screen on top of all the other chat screens. Use another ship to pop the can.. see what happens with the chatscreens.
Those 2 are the most annoying. Thing that bothers me, the 'pin' option does not work.. it should sticky the window to its location but it doesn't.

Well this to me is a perfect example as to the effectivness of ccp's bug control. We get a quote from someone who after a month doesn't know about it and hasn't checked it , and yet feels the need to reply to it. For the record: I really don't give a sh!t about a reply like that , all i want to know is if this is going to be fixed or not. Should I complain because I don't have problems with windows moving around when I undock? When I dock and undock again the windows are exactly where they were before I docked.
I had the problem after one of the Revelations 2 patches but it was easily cured by deleting the cache directory and all the settings files.

Try to detach each piece of the overview, move the details pane to the top center of the screen, the ships list pane to the upper right corner, and the drones window to the bottom right corner, then dock and undock and see if they stay there.
I guess if you run the default config there aren't any problems. But as soon as you try to move the overview to somewhere else, there are.
I also think it's caused by the new code they added to prevent the map buttons at the top from overlapping the overview. You see, they figured the best way to fix that was to have the overview move itself out of the way. Heh.

CCP, fix UI window dancing. I'm not a very good dancer.
CCP, fix items not being displayed on overview until they explode. That makes the overview (not to mention your ship) rather worthless when that happens.

As reported in a recent news item, this has been added to the Patch Notes for Trinity 1.2:
Bookmarks may become invalid after Junk in Space Cleanup Program is activated on Wednesday, 16 April.
If you have any bookmarks that were created by right clicking a container in space and selecting "Bookmark location" the bookmark will point to the container ID. When the container is then deleted by the Junk in Space Cleanup Program the bookmark will point to a container which doesn't exist and therefore it becomes invalid. This also affects bookmarks that are copied and transferred between characters, when trying to move them to People & Places the action will fail silently, meaning no error message is displayed.
You can prevent this by visiting your bookmarks before Wednesday, 16 April, and re-create them so that they don't point at containers but rather at coordinates in space (right click in space next to the container and create a bookmark).

I was looking at the patch notes yesterday and didn't find the word overview in it. I thought something is wrong i must have missed it it's such an important issue that with the fps drop its one hell of an annoying bug anyone could imagine. For example when i release my drones the window just jumps in the middle of my ui in the fight, can make you kinda ****ed. Anyway, I am shocked now. It seems I was not mistaken, some of the devs don't even know about the problem, it took us 3 pages of posting to make them say that they are looking into it. About one month after the bugpatch release, and one month constant discussion about it in the uncountable bug topics. I'm shocked... Dear CCP Explorer if you haven't looked into this bug yet, which I can still accept and understand, you must've had a lot of work on other issues, but can we have someone here who at least gives us the impression that you accept that this is a major bug for many people and you are working on it as a top priority? Also please confirm that this will be fixed in the next patch! I understand everyone whines the most for the bug he has and he feels like this is the end of the world if you guys don't fix it at once because his program has issues, while you have to deal with 200k customers. But in this case it's not because my toy is broken or my lollipop fell into the sandbox but because so many people have this issue. I don't want to hear about ambulation or such useful things like the female corpses in space, what you guys had to mention in the trinity video (i still don't know if that was a joke or you really didn't have better ideas), as most of the people here i want the game fixed, to work with acceptable number of bugs and lag. Please.

Well actually even if they have that in the eula and you accepted it, it doesn't mean that it has to be that way and you can't do anything against it. I mean if they write in something stupid like we will have your wife if you want to play our game, or we can install whatever we want -without notifying you- on your computer otherwise you cannot play our game, those things can be still attacked even if you accepted the eula. But i don't think this will be a problem, afterall we are not against CCP and vice versa, nobody wants problems like that and it's important to have a good relationship to the customers, not the we rob you whatever you say approach many of the companies do. Fortunately CCP is not like that! /licking off :) Though a voluntary or semi-voluntary way of this would be welcome...

I agree,we have to see that we all are rowing the same boat.Overall i think CCP is doing a great job,but then and then we get confronted with elitistic crap and total dissrespect!? Dont they know that we are putting the bread and butter on their tables?,some times it makes me wonder..

If you want some info, fine. Ask for it as every polite and well-behaved person would do. But don't join the path of Sony and other rogue companies who tried that before. You know where that ended: lots of bad press and a class law suit.
This isn't spyware, this isn't stealing. As has been previously stated this information is exposed by your operating system quite FREELY!! What this means is that no "spyware" is installed, but your OS provides this information to the client.
In effect, this is publicly available information. I'm sure CCP have a privacy policy, and in their EULA it probably states that information PRESENTED (not stolen/spied) is made available to the client.
Why are you people so paranoid about them knowing what graphics card is in your machine? The information presented by the OS isn't going to invade your privacy, neither can it go any further into your PC than that! This is supposed to be to help improve things and reduce bugs - I bet the people whining about "you're spying on me" are also the same people that whine and say "my client keeps crashing/lagging and a lost my ship". Well, you can't have it both ways.
Lastly and most importantly, when you visit a website the web server is able to tell what browser you have, and what version of that browser, along with a few other things. Are you *really* going to issue a lawsuit against Microsoft and Mozilla for disclosing your browser information to 3rd party web servers? No, didn't think so!
Go clean up your cookies, run Spybot Search and Destroy, install AVG anti virus, and remove some of the utter **** that infests your machine. Then you'll have more reliability and will remove more "spyware" than simply querying the information the OS PROVIDES to the client.
Really, if you don't like it go and talk to Bill Gates or Linus Torvalds depending!

Yep, when you visit just about any website on the internet the minimum amount of information collected is:
Your ip ISP general location browser operating system screen resolution screen colors whether or not you have java whether or not you have flash and what version What website you came from what search engine you may have used what search term entered to find the site connection speed language how long you visit how frequent you visit
Usually this info is sort of anonymous, but if the site you visit has you sign up for a subscription and you enter personal information, suddenly that information is tied to your ip, and they know exactly who you are and what you are doing.
Now if you compare this to CCP collecting video card info to make the game better.. I think you will see its not a real big deal compared to how much personal information you are leaving all over the internet. |

Quote: But MS doesn't force me to use Windwos Update. My Windows will just work without all those patches applied or I my apply them manually. Whereas I've yet to met any EVE patch that allowed me to ignore the current patch and still be able to use EVE ("Incompatible protocol").
As long as they tell you what they're going to do (which they obviously have in your case) you can make an informed choice.
If you don't like it, leave. CCP are not forcing you to play the game and by subscribing you are aggreeing to accept whatever rules and policies they enforce.
I agree. At first not having Alt was annoying but once I knew about Alt+Z I much preferred it. You can activate space brackets while you need them then switch them off. A toggle beats holding a key down indefinitely in my view. -- (Sarcastic mission running veteran, 4+ years)

I will comment on it, but only after looking at the issue and the defect myself.
This would stand to ground then you have not played Eve since this bug came into play because you can't play eve without seeing this fracking thing. Jesus christ....
Load eve. Join Fleet. Enjoy. NOW FIX THE FRACKING THING!!!!1111
BTW does the female corpse have **** yet... I find this addition more important than the overview.... and if you think i'm serious please quit CCP and go back into cleaning.
Actually you can. My overview never jumps around and never has. It's probably because I've left it where it defaults (right edge of screen with details on top). OTOH I do get chat channels and open cargo jumping to the bottom of the screen but it might be that Wrangler plays with those minimised (I do sometimes) so wouldn't notice. Do not assume that the overview is a big headache for everyone. Some of us genuinely haven't seen a problem with that particular window. |

A lot of information if exposed by the OS freely. Contents of files, banking details, basically everything on your PS.... This is a non-argument as the exposure is intended for programs ON the machine, not CCP's marketing department.
Originally by: Ashlee Darksky In effect, this is publicly available information. I'm sure CCP have a privacy policy, and in their EULA it probably states that information PRESENTED (not stolen/spied) is made available to the client.
Again, you're wrong. This is not 'publicly available information', this is information restricted to programs running on my PC which CCP is now going to leech. Any company with pure intentions would make it voluntary.
Originally by: Ashlee Darksky Why are you people so paranoid about them knowing what graphics card is in your machine? The information presented by the OS isn't going to invade your privacy, neither can it go any further into your PC than that!
Again, you may believe CCP will limit themselves to this data. I don't trust any commercial company for the simple reason that their loyalty is not to me, but to their shareholders wallet. Once they've crossed the line of leeching data from customers private PC, it'll be SO easy just to add a tiny bit more.... One thing their primary partner MicroSoft would probably be interested in is windows license keys (combined with the home address of the customer). If MS offered a 25% discount on CCP's purchases for that, I wouldn't bet anything that the CCP board wouldn't think that a great thing ($$$).
It all comes down to a question of trust and a question of wanting control of your data. I don't trust ANY commercial company as a general rule and I want full control of my PC. This Gestapo/Stasi surveilance crap is something the world is better off without!

OK - it's like this:
1) The last patch should NEVER have been released with the overview bug in it. It is a glaringly obvious bug that provides a constant source of irritations to the user base. The code that was modified should have been pulled and the old code left in it's place if it wasn't ready. There have been no improvements in the game commensurate with the level of aggravation this bug has caused. Before - the over view worked fine. In attempting to make it better YOU FREAKING MADE IT WORSE. Don't release code like that.
2) The number one priority of THIS fix should have been fixing that bug. It is a constant unremitting irritation. Don't even bother with another fix if you haven't fixed this - as it will mean we will have to put up with this until the NEXT patch release. NO. Fix the damn thing NOW. Put everything else aside and FIX IT.
Am I going to get a new ship out of it - if one of mine gets blown up because when I tried to launch my drones their menu jumped who knows where and I can't assign them a target?
The same goes for the problem with Alt-Tabbing between accounts.
This worked fine since I started playing the game. NOW every now and them - the screen freezes when I try to Alt-Tab to the other account. Sometimes I can keep hitting keys until I can get one to refresh the screen but often I'm forced to close the application - which means redoing my Fleet joins - when the thing comes back.
As you can imagine - getting attacked while unable to access your ship can pose a problem. Am I going to get a new ship if I lose one because of this stinking bug? If playing multiple accounts on the same computer were something odd - it would be different. But this game is obviously designed for people to do that and CCP has encouraged people to get multiple accounts with various offers. It is difficult to make use of those multiple accounts we are now paying for if they freeze up like this.
So - what we have here - is a bunch of stuff that's added that I don't really care about - and TWO things that are CRITICAL to the game as I play it that were fouled up last time.
I EXPECTED THEM TO BE FIXED IN THIS RELEASE AND SEE NO SIGN THAT THEY WILL BE.
I was understanding up until now. Every one makes mistakes. But when people make a mistake - THEY SHOULD FREAKING FIX IT in a timely manner.
DO NOT RELEASE THIS PATCH WITHOUT THESE FIXES.
I don't care what else is in this patch. None of it matters compared to things that effect the basic ability of the game to be played.
Pull this update until those fixes are ready - and ONLY then release it.
Don't bother to release it without them. You're just wasting an update cycle.

I had to laugh at this - I can't imagine Microsoft providing programmatic access to their Windows keys - imagine the piracy nightmare they'd have on their hands if that got out and was embedded in some form of malware.
Not to say I don't agree with what you're saying - I too would like control over whether, when, and what info gets sent (for example, in the manner that Steam does it, with republishing the results and all), but you could've come across much more succinctly and convincingly with just these points and without the overwrought and overused references.

Any possible fixes for the character sheet?
As it stands, if you switch tabs too quickly, and in laggy/random instances, the character sheet tabs will just freeze preventing you from accessing your skillsheet and combat log (something I would rather I didn't have to relog to access).
Could there be a fix for this or a refresh phase to re-display the sheets? ______________

This is a LOAD OF CR*P! INSTEAD OF DOING SOMETHING ON IMPROVING GAME U KEEP NERFING EVERYTHING THAT BECOMES POPULAR TO DO. U ADDED PREMIUM GRAPHICS. GREAT. NOW 30% PEOPLE CAN'T PLAY GAME ANYMORE. U GOT 40+ THOUSAND PEOPLE ONLINE ON PEAK HOURS. THE LAGG CREATED BY YOUR UNWILLINGNESS TO INVEST SOME OF THE MONEY WE PAY YOU MONTHLY(OR 6-MONTHLY, AS I DO) INTO IMPROVING THE SERVER PERFORMANCE AND MAKING THE PARTS OF THE GAME THAT MATTER THE MOST(FLEET FIGHTS, YES) ACTUALLY WORK! THE GIANT SECURE CONTAINERS THAT ARE ANCHORED IN SPACE ALSO ARE COMPLETELY BUGGED, THOSE COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN ON FOREVER, YOU CANNOT STACK THE STUFF IN THEM, U CANNOT SORT IT OUT MOST OF THE TIME(99% OF IT). SO PLEASE, GET OUT FROM YOUR LITTLE SELF-CONTENTION WORLD AND START DOING SOMETHING TO PAY BACK YOUR CUSTOMERS THAT FIND THIS GAME THE BEST ONLINE THING NEXT TO YOUTUBE AND WHATCHAMACALLIT STUFF. PLEASE DO NOT SAY THE LAGG IS DUE TO PEOPLE'S COMPUTERS OR CONNECTIONS BEING UNABLE TO HANDLE THE GAME, THAT IS ANOTHER LOAD OF CR*P! I TRIED USING WoW(YEAH, SINFUL ME)(HAVEN;T BEEN LAGGED OUT ONCE, EVEN ON MASS RAIDS) AFTER I LOST 4 SHIPS IN 2-3 DAYS DUE TO BUGS THAT ARE ON YOUR SIDE, LIKE "SESSION CHANGE ALREADY IN PROGRESS FOR 2-3 MINUTES WHEN YOU ARE BEING SHOT AT BY 10 PEOPLE THAT DON;T LIKE YOU. OR WHEN U LOSE A RIGGED RAVEN AFTER FINISHING RATTING, JUMPING INSIDE POS SHIELDS AND LOGGING OUT, THEN NEXT DAY FINDING YOURSELF IN A POD IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE, AND GETTING A RESPONSE FROM THE GM'S "WE ARE SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS,BUT WE COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG IN OUR LOGS..." YEAH WHATEVER. KEEP PRETENDING EVERYTHING IS GOOD. MAKE A QUESTIONAIRE FOR EVERY EVE PILOT TO BE FORCED TO REPLY, ASK THEM WHERE THEY USUALLY HANG OUT, WHAT THEY THINK ABOUT LAGG IN GAME IN THEIR LOCATION(HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE USUALLY THERE) AND SO ON. THEN, GET ALL THE RESULTS AND POST THEM(THE REAL ONES, NOT THE EDITOR'S CUT PLEASE) LIKE THAT WILL HAPPEN. U GOT A GREAT GAME HERE, IT'S A SHAME U DON'T BOTHER LOOKING AFTER YOUR CUSTOMER'S COMPLAINTS. THEY ARE YOUR BREADBASKET. KEEP THAT IN MIND. AND FFS, DON'T BE CONDESCENDING WHENEVER THE POSTS MAKE U FEEL THAT YOUR TIE IS JUST A TAD BIT TIGHT AROUND YOUR NECK. STOP NERFS, AND NERF THE LAGG AND BUGGS. I WON;T READ YOUR ANSWER ON THE FORUMS, BUT I HOPE TO SEE THE ANSWER NEXT TIME I GO INTO A FLEET FIGHT WITH 200+ PEOPLE IN SYSTEM, WHEN THE LAGG DOESN'T KILL ENTIRE FLEETS BY CRASHING THE NODES AND GAME CLIENTS. P.S. EVE VOICE IS EVEN WORSE AFTER THE "MAINTENANCE" YOU PERFORMED. B4 I HAD NO PROBLEMS, OTHERS HAD, BUT NOW I EVEN GET CLIENT CRASHES. AND I'M TIRED OF PETITIONS.

Can I say here that I like some of the things happening in this patch, that I am not bothered by the ones that don't affect me and that I have no major issues with the overview bug (my drone box never moves when I launch them by the way) or revealing what my graphics card is (would be nice to hear actually, since I have no idea myself)? My only wish would be that patches would not be done on a Tuesday because that is exactly the most inconvenient day of the week for me.

I just hope that CCP does aswell, couse so far jumping windows is the bug number 1 !!! Mentioned maybe in 75% of posts here.
Ok chat windows, and cargo windows aswel as overvieuw dont jump all the time, i can imagine those bug being missed, but come on...
Fleet windows if someone is going to say they dont jump i say you are a liar... Even if its a CCP member. Every single time i join an fleet, fleet windows open somewhere over my overvieuw on top of it. Usually i can manage to minimaise fleet window but broadcast window is really evil, those little pest is capable of forcing on my info window from above the overvieuw even higher, off the sceeen so i cant reach it anymore, thus dont see how much damage i inflict and or do i inflict any damage at all.
Finally i have to hit esc to restore windows positions, and that means i have to restore all positions alswel as size of by me prefered windows.
Explorer, im sure you do what you can and i m sure your just human and got just 24 hours in an day, but this is obviously TOP PRIORITY !!!
Put an team on this issue, there is definitly something wrong. See it this way, if i pin an window... its pinned and shoudnt move from location where its pinned no matter what happens... as long as its not the case, dont even expect players to be kind about updates.
As many others also stated, i also dont have the feeling CCP set right prioritys.
Fix things that really affect gameplay, extra drones, crap... laser beams on an ship that looks like massive.... crap... cleaning space from sec cans and other dirt.... still crap as they are just annoying.
The only real thing this update (hopely) will cause is increased FPS... That is something i also welcome, for the rest keep good work, a side with your lack of attention to players base you create a hell of a good game... i just activated second account... and if you really do your best and make multiaccounting stable i might keep it and use it :)

You misunderstand CCP's bug-prioritizing scheme, which, from what I've seen, does the following two things (among others):
1. They do NOT prioritize bugs based on how annoying they are. They do prioritize based on how many people are affected by the bug, but that's not the primary consideration. The primary is how significant the bug is (as in how big a part of the client or server it crashes). The result is that a "typo" or a flicker of the screen or the Overview moving is deemed a "minor" bug because it doesn't prevent gameplay, and the fact that it affects many people is noted but this doesn't increase its priority much.
2. They allow indefinite postponement. Simply put, a bug's priority doesn't seem to increase with time. And they are always so swamped with new/old issues that a minor bug will NOT be looked at, ever. Case-in-point: containers and windows resizing themselves, since 2003 (this is just an example, I don't care about "fixing" it, we've learned to live with it by now).
Bottom line, the Overview bug is classified as "minor" despite how much we're complaining, and it has a chance to NEVER be fixed simply because there will always be something more important to spend time fixing.
Also, I don't know if they know what's causing it. I think it's in the "don't overlap the map buttons" code, but I'm no expert. Could also be a result of the fact that they keep changing the default location where the cache directory is.
Anyway, they're annoying their own player base, or a segment of it, to the point where it's more and more vocal in a negative way... oh well, their issue to deal with, I don't know why they continue doing it, but shrug.

The real problem is if they don't listen to us! As I stated it in other topics I really don't want another SW:G case with the devs don't giving **** about what the players say, they just do the ostrich tactic and keep answering to the question they want to hear, not what we ask, like we didn't even exist. Of course they apologized when only 2% of the player base was left... CCP may have a bad priority, the problem is if they can't adapt EVEN if in the topic of the patch we keep telling them to do so. And of course in numerous other threads. I'm really waiting the response of a Dev here clearing this issue and soothing all of us, so we can have a sort of good disappointment, knowing they do care about what we say and this was just a misunderstanding.

I really hope the overview bug is fixed in this next patch. It has been ages now.
I am convinced that CCP's Dev team sucks (boot.ini, anyone?).
Fixing the overview but shouldn't be that hard. If they don't fix it on this patch, then someone should be fired in my opinion.
Eve is a great game, but CCP are a bad company. Their quality-control stinks, and their PR isn't much better.
Fix the overview bug.

Errr....... you can't right-click in space next to the container to create a bookmark. Or, is that something you are adding in this patch?

I don't see how.... The EVE universe is 3 dimensional, your screen is 2 dimensional, so where on the third axis are you setting the bookmark ??
Maybe I am just not thinking straight, but I cannot see how it can be done..... Anyone ??

You currently make a bookmark of a tin by right clicking the container. Now, to refresh them, just go to the same location, open your people and places window and select 'new bookmark'.
Honestly, how the hell can you people criticise the patch when you're obviously either new to the game and/or stupid. |

As has been mentioned already, this functionality doesn't seem to exist. The only means of creating a bookmark by right-clicking is to right-click an object in space, rather than space itself.
Granted, you can open People & Places (as was also mentioned) and create a bookmark on your current location, but that is neither here nor there. Please clarify the patch note so that people who are new to the game will know how to save their bookmarked locations from the cleanup.
On a side note, this entire thread has given me a fairly warm, fuzzy feeling. Seeing the developers so actively communicating melts my little Intaki heart.

i cant comment on wars in 0.0 around then but i can say is there was a time almost 3 years ago it was less laggy to move around in empire without the worry of cue times on gates or getting caught in jita on weekends during its prime time where the system is usually flooded. It was down to ccp's greed of increasing their revenue that put the servers under so much strain.
as for upgrading the servers to do that, i doubt anything new that they could upgrade to would solve that issue. The reason being from a fleet battle perspective is that with less lag more people will get involved thus causing more lag. There have been several cases of this ive seen personally from the so called great war where the system numbers rivaled jita at peak times during weekends.

signed... the fact remains, the fleet warfare is the pinnacle of EVE experience... and if u get lagged to death, then wtf's the point? they have been so proudly advertising introduction of the whole fleet/wings thing with option of having several hundreds or even thousands of people in a single fleet. the question comes, if u cannot make your prime product working, why even bother trying to sell it. One idea that i've had in mind for a long time is actually like this: 1) have them(CCP) add a lot more hardware in their server facility-es... that should directly effect the lagg issues. 2) I have noticed the client for eve to be 5-6 times smaller than most of other MMORPG's. other MMORPG's have no lagg, or very little if any. The lagg problem is probably solved by the amount of data stored on actual users computers, which in turn requires less time and resources to be read every time you enter a system, load environment, and such... For example, I am almost 100% sure that most solar systems in EVE have twin systems by shape, size and content, if not, they must have some similarities with the other systems in the code part and whatever it is called. I can;t make myself believe that all the stuff i have seen in eve is alltogether few 100 MB in total size... Please people, please, do something, employ more people(even if it means that you will make a bit less money than you are squeezing out of us atm...), and return the quality that we are paying for with our RL hard earned money.

Keep up the good work.
Altho I'm still wondering when it will be possible to switch ammo in all guns at same time without needing to right clik on each of them for that. As I understand it was planned to be a bit bigger UI overhaul (with ability to group your modules and some additional keyboard shortcuts) just wondering how the work on that progresses.

If MS offered a 25% discount on CCP's purchases for that, I wouldn't bet anything that the CCP board wouldn't think that a great thing ($$$ for them).
I had to laugh at this - I can't imagine Microsoft providing programmatic access to their Windows keys - imagine the piracy nightmare they'd have on their hands if that got out and was embedded in some form of malware.
The windows license key is freely available to any program running on the PC.

Just a handy tip here, the button you want to press to refresh the screen in Esc

An overview of the Overview: Good news and bad news.
The bad news is that not all issues are fixed in Trinity 1.2 and some are still not fixed internally. But I have been talking to the UI developers today about the need to fix this.
The good news is that some of the issues you have reported have been fixed, either in Trinity 1.2 or internally and will be released in a subsequent update.
Also, for the issues that are still not fixed then there are workarounds. The Selected Items and the Overview windows like to stay together, as they did in Revelations and earlier versions. To avoid them moving around then keep the Selected Items somewhere at the top of the window and the Overview directly underneath. Make sure to not extend the Overview all the way to the bottom of the window since the Drone window and the Fleet Overview will open directly beneath the Overview.
I do appreciate your patience while we fix the remaining issues. |

Yeah, that's been a workaround since the bug has been introduced. However, with the plethora of widescreen monitors about, as well as the lack of screen space with all the windows that we have to keep open, we would really like to move the Selected Items window to top center or the side of the Overview.
Do you know that if I put the Selected Items window at the top center of the screen, when I open the map, the Map Buttons at the top right follow it and attach themselves to the Selected Items window? Actually it doesn't matter where the Selected Items window is, the map buttons will attach themselves to it.
And then, the Overview window may or may not attach itself to the underside of the Selected Items, but the Drone Window always will attach itself to the underside of the Selected Items.
Your bugs are in the code you added to make sure that the map buttons aren't overlapped.
Finally, no more patience. One small apology and no real progress are not sufficient to make up for two weeks of frustration with your buggy client. Fix the Overview, now, not at the next scheduled patch, now, asap. I, for one, will continue to be vocal about it, daily, till fixed.

Five weeks actually......
The issue is not so much that the windows move around. You can work your way around that. The main bad, Bad, BAD one is that other windows gets pushed off the screen, making them non-accessible. Make the 'pin' work, and make it impossible for windows to go off-screen. You'd have something usable then, if not exactly user-friendly.
Not impressed! This has been probably the most-discussed (or at least second) bug introduced 1.1, and it seems it's been almost totally ignored

No, not Gallente Navy Ogres, but the 'Augmented' and 'Integrated' drones that were introduced a while back. They will show up under the relevant variation tab.
This means if you info an Acolyte I, you will see listed under the variations tab 'Augmented' Acolyte, 'Integrated' Acolyte and Acolyte II.
This functionality is the same as all other variation tabs, and has nothing to do with any other drones, which would be an issue for Game Design

Does this apply to towers in hi-sec and all the corporations I've anchored towers for? I am hoping there is a loophole since towers require faction standings to be anchored, and the above quote uses the terms 'sovereignty' and 'offline', I hope this does not apply to my service intentionally or unintentionally.
No. Faction standings and Sovereignty are two entirely different mechanics. In fact, since standings only matter in highsec/0.4 and Sovereignty is 0.0 only, they literally cannot coexist.
This means that if A puts up a cyno jammer and B steals sov without downing that jammer somehow, A's cyno jammer will go offline because they don't have the sov to turn it on any more. It also applies to other Sov requiring structures. -------------------- ICE Blueprint Sales FIRST!! -Yipsilanti Pfft. Never such a thing as a "last chance". ;) -Rauth |

This functionality is the same as all other variation tabs, and has nothing to do with any other drones, which would be an issue for Game Design
so nothing new just a meaningless UI sort of thing? BAH!

So let me get this straight: Hundreds of complaints about the ALT key, finally ended with THIS post by Tuxford, only to have the patch NOT address the issue?
And instead we get the view from Explorer that
"Regarding the Alt key, I refer you to a post from CCP Tuxford. My personal view is that using overview tabs and Alt+Z work really nicely to switch between current bracket filtering and showing all brackets (note, you need to save an overview setting to a tab). I know that not everyone agrees and we will do another iteration."
You REFER ME TO THE POST FROM TUXFORD? In which he says it will be put back in, or made to work, but that he doesn't want to explain it? You'll do it in ANOTHER ITERATION?
At what point would someone LIKE to take the time to address an issue that hundreds of people (including me, who has never once except for this issue complained about something)?
Pretty please, with sugar on top, and when your poor precious heads don't hurt - explain to me why my ALT key can't function at the remarkably high level it once did.
I don't take "well I like the way things work now" as a suitable answer to hundreds of complaints for over a month when you've already quieted the herd with "we'll fix it"
I swear I've never complained on these forums about a single CCP patch, bug, etc. But these flippant responses to issues that have been driving your client base raving mad for a month drive me UP. THE. WALL.

That post was made how many days before the path? You want them to postpone the whole patch a month or more to get this single fix in?
I think it obvious from his post that they haven't even figured out the fix would work in their new system, much less implemented and tested it enough for release. ---------------------------------------- A Guide to Scan Probing in Revelations |

Does this patch make automatically a safety copy of my boot.ini or Do I have to do it on my own again ? If it's not a build-In-feature, then this can be a feature request for the next installer-version ;)
I didn't read all 8 pages, but I noticed, that many people were already asking about the bug with fleet windows etc., but every statement of CCP inside this thread seems to dodge it... Can't you guys make a statement. This bug really ****es me off, and as it seems, not only me.

- Fixed the graphics for the Cargo Capacity indicator.
- Fixed an issue where the in-game clock would start accelerating out of control resulting in forced client restart and destruction the client settings.
Linux
- Added better voice capture re-sampling support to get voice input working with more microphones under ALSA.
- Several stability issues were fixed, resulting in better client stability and experience for everyone.
- Fixed issues with “open browser” links (such as when the autopatcher refer you to manual patching).

I havne't been playing EVE all that long, but I know the game has been around for years. My friend, whom I talked into playing with me, and myself find the level of quality in patching and bugfixing pretty low considering how mature this game is.
Often a patch seems to go untested before implementation and causes 'unforseen' issues. Being a software developer myself, I can see where resources might be limited and a complete duplicate system to test deployment on might be out of reach, but this really happens more often than it should I think.
But now I get to see how you address an unintended bug introduced by a previous patch: the overview bug(s) and its associated UI repercussions. Not only does this bug seem to go unnoticed by some customer support for over a month, but it goes completely unaddressed in the patch apparently as well. This is a UI bug, it affects how your users interact with the game. It is in our face every time we undock! How did this not make anyones high priority list for over a month and not make it into an emergency fix, let alone not even make the next regular patch??
Reading further in the posts, it seems this bug was even known to exist on the test server, but yet the code still made it to live release. WHY? HOW? Do you not have any QA standards that would prevent this?
I'm quite disappointed, and almost wish I hadn't started my 2nd account, but I absolutely love the game. I just wish a little more priority was given to *not* breaking the game when you try to introduce new features. |

Regarding your post that I've quoted, I have the "Selected Items" window placed in the upper right corner of the screen and directly beneath it the "Overview" window, yet the Overview still jumps to the upper left corner of the screen after each undock.
This started to happen after I have merged the "Broadcasts" window with my "Local channel" and "People&Places" windows (placed in the upper left part of the screen), and the "Fleet" and "Drones" windows with the "Selected Items" window (placed in the upper right, as I wrote before). Unmerging the windows didn't help.
Besides the jumping "Overview" window, there is one more thing - the sequence of the merged windows tabs (with the Selected Items window) is random after each undock (would be nice it the "Selected Items" was the one "active" after undock).
It would be really nice, if this issue would be resolved ASAP by your UI team.

IMO, it's not a bug, it's an intended feature, and I'm not saying that derisively.
They had an issue they wanted to fix: the map buttons would be covered by the Overview for a lot of people who used the upper right corner. They fixed it by making the Overview windows and the Map Buttons attach themselves and move themselves out of each other's way. It does the job admirably, but it is more annoying to more people than the original issue was. They really don't want to change it back because then the original issue appears again.
CCP, why not put the map buttons in the TOP LEFT corner, right above the System Name and all that text. Have them move the text down, I don't think anyone has anything in that part of the screen. Then remove the code that moves the Overview around.

CCP has new policy about not specifying exploits and not allowing anyone to talk about them.
I see potential of great abuse here, just potential now. Technically, CCP can declare anything an exploit. For example, they can make it so logging off to avoid combat is now an exploit, they won't tell anyone about it due to new policy, they will just stealth nerf it and keep silent.
Pretty much any game feature can be decided to be an exploit, stealth nerfed, and discussion of the subject forbidden, discussion threads locked, violators banned. This policy is a tool that allows CCP to completely bypass the community.
It's like having secret police, at first it seems like a good idea, but then they take away your liberties, your rights, start random searches and executations, obtain total control of the public by fear.

Yes. It's exactly like that.
Except CCP doesn't control your real life. The most they can do is ruin their own game, which in turn ruins them because they lose profits from their client-base leaving.
In the end, it's a bloody game! If you're fed up with it, leave. Nobody's forcing you to stay.

Originally by: CCP Saint Tranquility will undergo an extended downtime on Tuesday, 15 April. The start time is 1100 GMT and the length of the downtime is expected to be five hours.
Update #2 2008.04.15: The downtime has been extended with one hour and we expect Tranquility to be back at about 16.00 GMT.
Update 2008.04.15: The following has been added to the patch notes:
Mac
- Added ability to turn on tracing similar to existing Linux functionality, so that Mac ISD Bug Hunter volunteers and normal users willing to help out track down problems, can provide extra useful information when using the bug report system.
- Several stability issues were fixed, resulting in better client stability and experience for everyone.

- Fixed the Cargo Capacity indicator.
- Fixed an issue where the client would hang when clicking the Log off button on the ESC menu.
Update #2 2008.04.14: Please note that we have added one hour to the downtime for deploying this patch, Tranquility is expected to be up at 1500 GMT and not 1400 GMT as originally reported.
Update 2008.04.14: After further testing it turns out that we cried wolf a bit too early. The Junk in Space Cleanup Program will not make any bookmarks invalid. We apologize for any confusion this may have caused.
Update 2008.04.12: As reported in a recent news item, this has been added to the Patch Notes for Trinity 1.2:

As anyone that has ever been an early adopter of anything should know, there are always problems that crop up with something new. Complaining about complaining FTW.
Without feedback, how would CCP know we care about what they broke?
"just tell them through the proper channels" L2Read proper channels doesn't mean complaining on this thread.

I'm not sure no one has answered me but I think it's because their still building the patch and I think it will load if you reload the game but wait until people are successfully online and then try.

Some people will never learn that on these days set looong skill, and don't expect to play seriously until at least next downtime.

When you start the client (NOT YET! IS NOT READY YET!) you'll get a message saying "There is a new build available. Download now?" to which you will say "Yes". It will download and then you'll be told "The auto-patching process is about to begin".

guys, don't forget we have the daylight savings and EVE servers somehow does not have them. So, when they say 16GMT, it is 17 british time (+1 daylight savings) and 18 central european time (+1 because of timezone and +1 because of daylight savings).

Yep, you guys are dead right. I'm living in BST, which I didn't even realise existed. I just figured the whole world worked the way this country does, which is of course stupid. I live in Ireland which, along with the UK, does indeed follow BST, and yes, the clocks went forward a few weeks back. Weird that Greenwich Village doesn't follow Greenwich mean time; I mean, they named the timezone after them, you think it's the least they could do:-)

If we did that every time before DT or patching, we would end up with skills at 4%, 15% or w/e "Depending on rank of course" on skills we don't plan to train for another month or so, it's just a waste of SP and you're skills are full of bars with huge contrasts.

Waste of SP for something you will train eventually later... versus losing training time entirely? I'll take the "wasted" time spent training a longer skill, thanks!

Use a program like EVEMON and you cam moniter the skill training out of eve and set up skill plans that will help you get the skills you need to fly ships or use moduales that you wan tto use. and will also tellyou if a skill is goignto finish in a normal down time period.

If we did that every time before DT, we would end up with skills at 4%, 15% or w/e "Depending on rank of course" on skills we don't plan to train for another month or so, it's just a waste of SP and you're skills are full of bars with huge contrasts.
Waste of SP for something you will train eventually later... versus losing training time entirely? I'll take the "wasted" time spent training a longer skill, thanks!
Lol, but its not gonna help you till you do train it, which may be weeks, months are even longer. So won't be effective till then. : /

When you do learn it, you have saved the learning time spent now. Whichever way to look at it, its better to learn something rather than nothing.

I like this game but it's less enjoyable with the smart mouths. It's great to have the international crowd but I think some have pretty poor attitudes like that of a 3rd world person with no education ect... Even the one's with educations though still have the attitude - that's the sad part. Someone that knows something you don't and they rub it in your face.. That's what I don't like.

Edited by: Ace Fox on 15/04/2008 15:51:59 I was not abusive Arbourus Vitaemus but you are being. I asked a simple question about how the patch is downloaded and that is filed in the thread. There where people in here being abusive to other people asking questions and I think that's rude. Anyway grow up yourself and act civil. This is a game if you want to fight go into a ghetto where there's people of that sort will gladly box with you. Don't call me names over the internet go to some back alley and speak to someone on your level.

Check the time on your post, its 15:50, that means 10 whole minutes for them to test the server, and yes its running, but not accepting connections.. meaning QA team are buzy.
I am kinda wondering when the patch-notes are going to be updated, i'm kinda eager to know what "exploits" are fixed (more perticulair if switching ships in space is now shown correctly on the overview again) (it was in the news before).

Silly me, I totally forgot it was patchday today so my skill finished half an hour ago^-^.
But even so, I remember reading from the site that the downtime would end at 15.00 GMT (52 minutes ago), but everywhere else it states 16.00 GMT. So I was kinda hoping it would've gone up at 15.00 GMT, but ah well...my own mistake for not reading the site properly before logging off yesterdayevening.

Geez Ace I almost can't believe you're serious. Before I head out to the ghetto to box some other unfortunates I just wanted to note that it's a bit paranoid and a lot ridiculous to think that anyone on this board cares enough about your comings and goings to deliberately taunt or gaslight you. Plus, where did I call names? You accused all foreigners of either being uneducated 3rd world a*holes or elitist, confrontational f*wads. Anyway, off to struggle just to survive in the ghetto, where living is a day to day fight. Fly safe bud, maybe I'll see you around and we can swap stories...or shots, whatever.

Ace Fox, I answered you in this post; though I appreciate you may have missed it among the people being confused by GMT.
didn't see it and I asked way before then and there were some rude remarks although they weren't directed to me I still find it rude when your looking though threads to see the rudeness. I think some of you should grow up but then again some of you might be 14 yr olds or at least have that mentality. Personally I don't use fighting words to people starting up a conversation but perhaps some of you come from that kind of family. I find it unacceptable. Thanks anyway my program is downloading. I pretty much figured it out myself..
