he called out for players to hunt him down and grief him in the same manner he was griefed before. you know.. that part where it affected him so much he expressed a desire 'to end it all'?
you're arguing over semantics where we both know the net result / net effect. alex didnt incite everyone to go and kill his mackinaws, he incited everyone to 'make him kill himself'

And so for Mittens.

I'm fairly certain that when asked about what 'griefing' or 'harassment' was, CCP said that repeatedly targeting a single person was the *defininition* of harassment.
That's without the fact that The Mittani phrased at as "Make him kill himself", which would be incitement to extreme harassment on it's own.
He broke the EULA, and needs to be punished for it. He said something which was extremely offensive and needs to show genuine remorse. One post and 10b does not make remorse, it covers his ass.
CCP should decide whether whether an account suspension or ban is in order, and the CSM should be asked for input in the decision regarding whether he should be allowed to continue as a CSM, and as a chairman.
But it's simply not in question whether he broke the rules or not. |

Yes. This is why we have elections. So that the chairman forcefully relieved of his position can appoint his successor?
In Soviet Russia the president can appoint his successor. Everywhere else, not.

He didn't generate bad publicity for CCP, CCP did. They put a livestreaming camera in front of a drunk guy and let it linger for a good, long while. They don't get to act all shocked and awed then the drunk guy says something problematic, as drunk people tend to do that. CCP actually vetting his presentation (i.e. having no issue with him even beinging The Wis and the original email up in the first place) is just icing on that cake. |

the issue wasnt with the email he read out that was in the presentation, it was his comments in the Q & A section m8... CCP cant vet that unless theyve a f**king time machine, and try as he might, i dont think veritas has that kind of coding genius in him. |

Admittedly, the slide/email was sort of a secondary thing, but it was pretty clear that CCP didn't mind him "going there" so to speak. That's just pretty stupid to do if you're livestreaming this to at minimum a playerbase full of people who have any number of reasons to dislike Mittens already. Letting him present anyway when he was as drunk as he was is doubly stupid. |

As the representative of the best of the EVE players, more stringent stance is given as they are GÇ£expected to uphold the social contract that all society members are held accountable to, but should also set a behavior standard for everyone else to follow.GÇ¥ For those who are unfamiliar with The MittaniGÇÖs misconduct, please refer to the link where he knowingly encouraged thousands of potential Fanfest viewers to send mails to an EVE player who has exhibited a history of mental instability, to provoke him to commit suicide. CSMs are elected to exhibit the best of their behaviors, may it be in drinking, partying, or playing EVE, but knowingly encouraging other players to take part in a possible suicide of a player in front of thousands of EVE and non-EVE audiences crosses boundaries. When asked to answer for his misconduct, he only gave a nonchalant answer. He should have been begging on his knees, apologizing for his childish behavior. If a no-name player like me incites thousands of EVE Online players to partake in an act to provoke a mentally unstable person to commit suicide, I would have been banned by CCP without question. By the tone of his postings, he is completely unapologetic of his misconduct. Is it ok that because he's the head of CSM, that he can do whatever he wants? For the future of the CSM, please consider the dismissal of The Mittani from CSM. EDIT #1Great job, Mittani the Great. It seems like on the first week of your CSM chairmanship, you are able to garner a distinguished recognition from gaming website. Fantastic job. You make all of us look like idiots. EDIT #2Yes! I think so far in my life I have never laughed and told someone to go kill themselves. Much less told "six thousand of my closest friends" to also go tell someone to go kill themselves. If this had been a person who was genuinely unhappy, to whom EVE is important (much like it is to The Mittani), then this level of planned methodical abuse could easily be devastating.
Do you really deny that in slightly different circumstances, his actions could have caused serious harm to another player? That his actions were with little regard to what damage they might cause? |

A ton of media exposure (particularly interviews wanting to know if you really are considering suicide over a video game - a double dose of humiliation, unfortunately) would have been far worse than anything that would have happened to him in-game. |

One or more of these sorts of cases need to be publicised, and the people involved punished harshly enough that people like the goons realise it's not acceptable anymore.

I'm pretty sure the job description as CSM Chairman includes the words "community", "communication" and "manager".
Which implicitly makes it a position reporting to the PR department (I'm pretty sure the PR department employs 3x the amount of people than the programmers department, anyway)
Further more, the PR department should not under any circumstance employ people who can not represent their corporation or organisation, under heavy influence of alcohol or drugs - regardless. Alcohol and drugs are considered essential and much needed tools for proper bonding and communication related to their products or services, and as such all employees must maintain self control and better judgement regardless of these external factors.
When cockups occurs, as in the case of Mittens, the subjects are usually quickly relieved of their position, and their (promising) career comes to an unfortunate, but necessary, end.
I'm sure Mittens is a likeable dude all in all, but a major cockup is a major cockup, and somebody will have to take the fall. I'm pretty sure it won't be Hilmar...
Cheers

its moved away from alex in my books, he's made amends. its all the little CFC minions to blind by a 'mittani crush' to actually realise and acknowledge that their king is in fact fallible.
tho i dont expect half of them to understand the posh words i used in the sentence above, and the rest to be using a thesaurus at this very minute. It's nothing about that at all. Its like you said he made his amends. That's the entire point. Yes, he ****** up. But he is no different than any one of you or even me. For a lot of these guys, they had their minds made up weeks ago that Mittens was some kind of anti-Christ, No apology will change their minds. They are blinded by their own personal bias. He is actually a pretty chill and nice guy, and everyone who has actually talked to him or dealt with him can attest to this. So I think it's a little bit ******** for all of the people who were bitter about his success to suddenly act like they are perfect and have never gotten drunk and said some hurtful **** that they didn't mean. I love FA best pets we have imo
You should. From the looks of it, they have their nose so far up between the cheeks, they are probably tickling your prostate....
Looking to stamp out apiphobia in my lifetime..... |
