HP was buffed years ago to allow for more tactical decisions and systems during combat. Heat was implemented, but hasn't quelled the complaints of combat being to long and sometimes even boring.
Any follow-up plans?

First of all, again thanks a lot for answering all the questions.
Just to follow on on the market bit and quoting you:
Quote: Market: Are you talking about changing the market to avoid having tradehubs? If so; do you think the problem is having tradehubs or is the problem that tradehubs lag? Cause it the issue is lag we're fixing that (we've actually pretty much fixed it in Jita imo) :)
Lag in jita is indeed pretty much bearable and a lot better than before. I am sure GM answering stucks petitions in Jita are loving it too. The problem in the market is the fact that you can make a region wide buy order but not a region wide sell order using just one trading slot therefore if i wish to have the same sale/profit volume as in jita you need to spend more precious trade slots than just putting it in Jita. Now i don't know if it at all possible.
Also what about interbus and being able to move stuff since with contracts the player driven moves are very limited. I wished I could do a lot more than 15 hauling contracts and that we could automates some of theses tasks.
Finally coming back to the civilian haulers/miner fleet I don't expect them to be able to fight but they should be able to defend themselves a lot better especially the T2 versions. Agreed I don't want them to be turned into fighting ships but atm they are really easy preys and maybe they should have some form of defense like spikes for a hedgehog. That would also help in populating low sec since pirates could likely lose their shirt attacking miners.

We'd reconsider if 1 person quit and the argument he made was valid. We wouldn't if 25% quit and there was no logical argument behind it. As I've said, we do listen quite extensively to our community when doing balancing, it's not the amount of feedback we get but the quality. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
so after you have gone through the 166 pages on the 'ghost' training blog (and the 49 pages on the locked blog) you still cant see the logical argument for reinstating 'ghost' training? or is the 'company' stopping you from saying anything more on the subject? a detailed respoce would be very nice
thanks Zeb

Edited by: Oftherocks on 26/10/2008 10:38:29 Edited by: Oftherocks on 26/10/2008 10:37:38 First, let me say thank you for making such an effort to communicate with your customers, it is greatly appreciated.
My question has to do with GTC. When you got rid of the 30 and 90 day GTC's the reason given was that you were moving toward the industry standard, which my research has shown to be true. However, my research has also shown that the industry standard price for a 60 GTC is the same as a 60 day credit card subsciption. Therefore I ask, is there any chance you may revisit the current pricing structure, and if not why?
My second question has to do with R&D agents. Currently they seem to be bugged in that they are not offering missions on a daily basis as I was led to believe they were supposed to. Is this a known bug, and if so when do you expect some type of fix?
My final question has to do with overview settings. Will we ever be able to share our overview settings with others? In other words, a vet may have 5 or 6 overview groups he may wish to share with a newbie, will this ever be possible?
Thanks Again, Oftherocks

1) Will you ever put in more NPC traffic between stations in High- and Lowsec? Woud be awesome if the NPC ships had the faction and corp logo on them too and even in diffrent paintings depending on what corp they are working for, I think this would add some flavour to the game and making it feel more alive.
2)Will we someday see random NPC fights (for example the Angel Cartel warping in and attacking a Minmatar Lowsec station and gets intercepted by a Republic fleet)? I think this would add some flavour in a pilots everyday life since one could choose who to help.
Thank you for your time and effort to answer our questions. |

How would you comment on the payment issues for this game? Specifically, leaving out the rather senseless nerfs to GTC duration, and cost; the fact that a monthly fee for this game is the number 15. Now, depending on the player's location it's either 15 Euros, or 15 USD. Bringing up the exchange rates of my country, Estonia, 1 Euro equals 15.6 of my currency amounting up to 234.-/month. Now, some players, even outside the respective region of the world, have the option of paying in US Dollars. Having to point out, that all advertisments for EVE also display prices in USD. Presently the exchange rate for USD in my country is 12.-, which results in a cost of 180.-/month Granted, buying the 60d GTC allows me to pay in exchange rates of the USD, but that amounts up to approximately 209.-/month, which still leaves a great disadvantage.
Summing up the question: Is there any plans on balancing the cost of this game, or making the payment currency global, and set? Why should I pay for a ghostly month every 3 months I play, when I could actually get 4 months of gametime via credit card through the EVE site.
-------------------------- Is there any plans on adding a role bonus for remote hull repair systems to logistics-able ships (Logistics, and carriers)? --------------- Any plans on updating the EVE website item database to what it is ingame? Aweseomenessness |

Tanking: Yes. Resistance bonuses are certainly more versatile and help out in many situations. The active tank bonus can also be very useful when combined with modules that increase the effectiveness even further.
I agree that active tank bonuses can get pretty nice if you focus your setup towards active tanking. I'm just mainly confused about why the Abaddon gets 89% of the Hyperion's active tank bonus on top the other benefits its resists provide. It seems like the Abaddon isn't giving up very much for its versatility.

Local removal (and the scanner change that goes hand in hand with it) sounds awesome, but...
Are there any plans to do something about the average number of pilots in space info? If that feature remains it'll still be impossible for a small group to set up a hidden op in a quiet corner of 0.0.
Removing (or modifying it somehow) would: - allow smaller corporations to move out to 0.0 without having to join one of the existing alliances - force the alliances to actually patrol the areas they 'claim' (rather than just opening the map and looking for a glowing dot where they know there are no allies) - making scouting all the more important (intel on hostile/unauthorized presence being valuable might even open up for a new career)
All in all, more people to shoot for everyone ;).
...while it might make 0.0 feel quiet that ought to be offset (to some degree at least) by more people actually being there... |

Oh, just came to think of something I've *always* wanted to ask. Having been awake for over 24 hours means there are no bad questions in my world atm ;).
Why, I mean really WHY, are turrets so poorly placed on some ships? The ones I can think of right now are: 1) the Taranis - the back turrets should be placed on the "wing" (like on the Atron and Ares). Having them on the top is ugly and also means they have to fire through the ship at times... 2) the Harpy (and Hawk too I guess) really ought to place the first turret at the end of the wings (like on the Merlin). This ship model needs turrets there to look good. The fourth (top) turrent on the Harpy is horribly placed.
And yes, I find this to be important and it has annoyed me ever since the ships were introduced :(. I'm sure there are other examples but these are the ones that have bothered me the most.

Edited by: Strill on 26/10/2008 12:13:15 Currently drone stats (damage, optimal range, etc...) on the show info window don't update according to your skills when you put drones in your drone bay, so you end up needing third party calculators to see what stats your drones have after your skills are taken into account. Is a fix planned, or is there a technical limitation?
Also, there's currently now way to view your drone control range. Could this be added somewhere?

Hi
How about a minor market UI improvement, right now when I adjust my orders I have to do a "view market details" on the order and then a "modify order" once the market has loaded that item, how about adding that nifty magnifying glass button "click for detailed market info" that is shown in the buy / sell order window to the modify order window. ________

Edited by: Shadowsword on 26/10/2008 13:05:25 About marauders and the web nerf:
CCP Nohz stated in the game developpement forum that they weren't supposed to kill npc frigs with their guns. Yet, was this not precisely why the current web bonus was there in the first place?
The dev blog about marauders confirm it btw:
Originally by: CCP Fendahl
...With the same stasis webifier velocity factor bonus as the Paladin, the Kronos is a death sentence to any frigate that ventures within web range...
http://myeve.eve-online.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&bid=513
So why do you change your mind now? You're now going to nerf ships that are used and work as intended?
If you don't want to allow them to keep that fonctionnality, then just remove the bonus altogether and give those ship another one, because it is worthless. ------------------------------------------

What about POS corporation hangars and ship maintenance ACCESS LOGS? Is it too hard to implement such feature, if we already have logs system (in secure containers, for example) ?
For huge corporation thievery becomes a real pain, as there is absolutely NO instruments to track corporation assets.

Edited by: ramification on 26/10/2008 13:46:43 Edited by: ramification on 26/10/2008 13:43:56 As you go about making the UI more noob-friendly, had you thought of changing the Overview so that:
a) the Default settings make more sense. There's no reason for Sentry turrets, customs officers, etc to show up by default, as newbie players are not going to end up interacting directly with those NPC elements until much later unless it's to get wtfpwned because they aggro someone in High-sec. On the other hand, beacons and Cosmos sites ought to be EITHER visible by default OR only found by scanning - the current halfway house where newbies don't know they exist until told about them and can then find any and all of them effortlessly makes no sense. If finding them is supposed to create a feeling of discovery, make their existence common knowledge (mentioned in the tutorial) but their exact locations uncertain. IIRC some player deployables like Warp Disruption Fields are not visible by default either.
b) For ships the Type column currently provides the name of a ship, while the icon provides the size (frigate/cruiser/battleship). Wouldn't it be more useful to have a column which gives the ROLE and the type of a ship in the same column, e.g. "Command Ship (Nighthawk)"? Given the large and expanding number of ship roles in Eve and the huge number of unique names for ships of different races and factions, it takes a long, long time to get familiar enough with the names to know immediately and accurately what you're up against; and then it gives people who can do it an unfair advantage. Knowing what targets to prioritise in gang war, knowing whether to flee on sight when someone warps into the same belt as you in low-sec, these things can determine the outcome of an encounter, and I'd like to know if you think there's a gameplay reason for making IDing other ships less newbie-friendly than it has to be.

Edited by: Haffrage on 26/10/2008 13:51:47 1. Deep Space Transports using covert portals was mentioned a ways back in the BO BS CSM thread. What's the status on this idea?
2. Tech 2 variations of mining frigates. Miniature logistics, covert frigates with large cargoholds for smuggling, or even science vessels with doubled salvage, hacking, and archaeology chances. I hope something is than just in the works... :)
3. A projectile sniping platform. The tempest and mael CAN achieve fair dps at range, but at the cost of EHP. They can also achieve fair EHP, but at the cost of dps and range. Artillery have the shortest base range, the lowest base dps, and the lowest time before needing to reload (comparing 425 rails, tach beams, 1400 arties). They however have the highest damage mod and require no cap.
4. The paladin has higher alpha than the vargur due to damage vs rof bonus. Why no dmg bonus for the mael OR vargur, leaving artillery, the alleged alpha turret, with the fewest effective turrets (mael/vargur@8, [email protected] max vs. abaddon/paladin@10 max, apoc@8, [email protected], rokh@8) of any turret system?
5. Covert cynos in highsec. Arguably a bad idea, but they can't exactly let in the capital floodgates. If they only allow covert movements why not let them in? Surely it would broaden the movement capabilities of covert gangs more than gates alone. Possibly a limit, as in covert cynos may be lit in up to .7 space making it easier to move directly between pockets of low security areas where .8+ are rarer?
6. Covert cynos require cyno V. That's a hefty investment for something so extremely limited. Why not something more like Covert Ops IV, Cyno IV, Cloaking IV? The covert cynos ARE limited only to cloaky ships after all.
7. BO BS have reduced HP (-20% off T1 hull). For something so costly this isn't all that great. Aside from obviously not wanting them to be the solomegapwn why can't this be increased back to T1, or even higher?
edit: numbers put in to make this easier
Also, thanks a lot zulu. I hated you hard after the carrier blog but communication's the best way to keep a healthy relationship (just don't tell the rest of ccp about you and us players or they'll all get jealous) |

I was so looking forward to it And to be honest, it was pretty disappointing to see that (as far as I could see) no official announcement or reason was given as to why the tournament would not happen, neither up front nor afterwards.
2. (I bet you saw this one coming ) Can we have alliance tournaments again pretty please?
3. Not EVE but still CCP related: Will there be any juicy tidbits about the in-development WoD game to be had at Fanfest? I realize it's too early for a playable prototype to exist, but how about an art panel? A community ideas roundtable? I've played the tabletop game in the past, and am very much looking forward to be able to stalk through the shadows online!
4. Have you asked yet about whether there'll be EVE-TV coverage of Fanfest? I'm sure that even if Spiral and Stevie aren't available this year, all you need to do is hand a random Fanfest visitor a camera and they'll gladly do it...

1) Lowsec, it needs a boost, something to significantly increase the risk/reward, maybe 500k battleships in the belts and slightly better minerals/mineral distribution of the mid range ores so people are more inclined to mine them.
2) Corp Jumping during wartime, any plans to add a longer cooldown period if a wardec is active on a corp?
3) NPC Corps. How about levying a refining/bounty tax on players of a certain age, this may go some way to alieviate the farmer problem if they're pushed into player corps.
4) Docking games. Any chance you could look at the docking radius of certain stations, not make them all kickout but some have ridiculous dock ranges (upwards of 40km). They could do with being toned down a bit.

I didnt see a clear answer in the preceeding so~
Have the devs examined the possibility of a sliding scale for cloaks on non cloaking type ships with a max timer on length of time one can be cloaked? Ie the longer you are cloaked the longer before you can cloak up again after uncloaking, perhaps even with the length of cloaked time dependant upon the mass of the ship? Or even a simple reactivation timer similar to the DD one (abeit a shorter duration) before one can cloak again as a set value?
Any plans to revisit exploration complexes and make them viable / comparable income wise to ratting / mining in nullsec?
Thanks for all the time you've spent on the questions in this thread. :)

Lowsec exploration boosts?
We have beacons displaying crushed NPC fleets in highsec. Why not add NPC battlezones as exploration sites to lowsec, with little more than ship carcasses and parts that can be salvaged. Nice stuff offered, with faction wrecks that may yield faction mods? Huge reason to occupy lowsec border zones and do exploration there.
Obviously this type of stuff would be far rarer in 0.0 and highsec, because neither of those are border zones in turmoil between the major empires...
But yeah. Lowsec exploration/occupation boosts? Onboard scanner boosts, maybe fights in action? Can NPC's even be set up to engage eachother?

Ok since you have been so nice to reply to me about the Tempest im gonna ask you alittlebit more about that issue.
Because frankly, youre reply has left me and my friends literally speechless. I am also flying minmatarr ships. I am aware that you can tank the Tempest to theoretically tank 2k damage every 5 seconds, but your cap will ofcourse think you gone mad, and everyone else too really.
The peashooters you can fit on a Tempest also isnt extremely effective is it? Or are you force fitting 800mm on it?
Now here comes the first question: What kind of ships are you going against in your Tempest? I know it cant be a Megathron, for they will just simply melt you before you are trough their shields. It cant be Apocs because you wont break their tank with your peashooters and they probably will melt you in the end as well. Even the raven will just laugh at you.
What is it youre fighting? Geddons? youre dead. Dominix? youre dead. Maelstrom? nope, dead.
I choose to belive in you when you say that you fly a autocannon Tempst. So i will just assume that since a Tempest in most cases are not able to defeat another battleship alone, that you are either pvp'ing in a group, or you are killing smaller ships with it.
My next question is then, have you ever considered that in a bs fleet where you are the only one flying a Tempest. That you are in fact the weakest link? You are not the highest damage dealer by far, and you are not the tanker in the group. You might be tackling, but really, a dominix would be better "tackler", or a Geddon, or a Megathron, or a Typhoon or a.. Get my point?
See, thats what makes me and my friends speachless. In saying that the Tempest is "fine" it seems like youve never really tried to kill anything in it. Because right now, flying a Tempest puts you in a serious disadvantage compared to comparable ships you could have flown instead. |
