So that's what "The pirate encounter "aggressiveness" parameter should work as intended" in the patchnotes means?

I'm gonna try not to whine too much. Me and my Raven got owned on this mission. I'll admit I didn't do a ton of research going in, and I was able to put up a pretty stiff fight thanks to a Dread Guristas Rocket Launcher that spat out a Defender every 1.6 seconds, effectively disabling their missile offenses.
My main and pretty much only complaint is that the flow of my agent gave no indication as to the toughness of this mission. I had been doing the regular Damsel in Distress and kill the baddies at the bookmark, waiting for my agent to actually give me something vaguely worthwhile. I had been getting tougher missions from my level 2 agent before I recently left her to do a level 3 when my standing got high enough just two days ago. I'm only at 'Decent' rating with this level 3 agent. And suddenly this? It went from, "Own this guy and this bounty hunter rookie protecting him" to "Take on this fleet of mercenary assassins". The Raven is no big loss, I'll have another in two days, but it just sucked all of the realism out of it to suddenly have my agent that barely liked me and was still telling me to scrub his floor send me out on this high a difficulty of a kill mission. I feel like the biggest threat to me in Eve is CCP, its actions will probably cause me to lose more ships over my career than all the player rats put together.

Originally by: Chris Redfield ive just found out from CCP... that the mission toughness depends on wht ship u are using.. if u are using a crusier then the toughness will be adjusted to a cruiser and a BS and so on... so... u havent seen the real mission yet..
That sucks :( I want a better mission too ...grrrrrrrrr. But I guess good to balance it out.
I'll edit my replies above to match accordingly! |

Eh, don't count mine as a loss. A more experienced pilot would've been able to take them, I was just nubbin' it up today and completely didn't see it coming. I seriously foresee myself developing a fear of undocking on patch day. I'll probably just carebear it up in a station all day while I do something else and see what's posted on the forums at the end of the day. Or I suppose at the most I'll probably only fly around in a cruiser until other people find out where the CCP Mines are planted, last time I get blown up by one of them.

Edited by: Caldess on 01/09/2004 03:29:51 No insurance on mine, either, I'm just geographically located near two corp members who don't mind helping me out when stuff gets hard. I have one Megathron and an Apoc mine for me while I haul for them. I'd imagine if I didn't have the advantage of triple teaming like this I'd be pretty ****ed, though. I'd be on a huge vacation from Eve after being ***ed over like that. Also I haven't had to haul in awhile so I won't get immediately bored, will hopefully time it so I get tired of hauling just as I gather enough for my Raven. I'll probably miss that Dread Guristas Rocket Launcher more than the Raven, it was Defender ownage on a massive scale.

Originally by: Seliniah There I was having a fine day in my Dominix doing level 3 missions. Some were easy and some were challenging. Of course until I got to the Mordus mission. I dont remember the exact mission name but I remember the details pretty well. I typically warp in at 40k to be in range of my 250 rails. So I continued as usual. Warped in at 40k to see what I could engage. Before I could even count how many mobs there were I was locked with missiles coming at me. By time I had counted the 12 rats my shield had been depleted. I armor tank in my Dom so I hit my armor repairers and try and warp out realising something isnt right. So by the time I can count to 12 my shileds had been depleted, armor down 50% and I have been webbed and scrambled. So there I sit and watch my Dom go up in smoke with nothing I can do. I wasnt even able to lock a target before my ship was destroyed. I use a level 3 -16 qual agent. I have talked to many people that have had similar experiences since todays patch. I think this mission is beyond what I would call reasonable. I would hope CCP would make resitutions and fix this mission.
whats your armor tank setup... everyone i know who armor tanks in agent missions. didnt have any issues with todaus new missions... i know i didnt. and yes this is an alt..... |

Can't believe some of you guys actually blame CCP for the loss of your ship and want it reimbursed with a petition. I mean WTF?!! Seriously! You deserved to lose your ship! Get destroyed and learn! This is exactly like the Zor whining, keep it up and you'll have this cool mission removed soon, just like Zor. |

Originally by: obscuroditus I can understand it from your point of view - but dont you think its a bit...naieve? To take on a new mission before first investigating what you're up against ?
The first time I jumped in @ 60km, and checked out what frigs I was dealing with. I had hardeners fitted for thermal, explosive and kinetic- and my armor has a high reistance against EM to begin with.
Now I tested the behaviour of the swarm, and it's really not very hard - just fit the right hardeners, and do some homework! They were shooting railguns and yellow missiles - meaning scourge/explosive missiles (prolly scourge since they are caldari based ships), and railguns is always kinetic/thermal.
Well, sorry to hear of your loss though, never nice. Next time prepare :)[/quote
Havocs/Piranha are explosive while Scourge/Bloodclaw do kinetic damage. Please excuse but I just wanted to make this minor correction and also ask of those who have done this mission to confirm the damage type/weapons that these rats deliver for future reference since there is no listing on either eve-db or eve-i for the "Mordus' rats. Tis better to be silent and be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt. 'Abraham Lincoln'

Its amazing how many people cant see their hand in front of their face. No one said to do away with the mission. There is only some concern as to the difficulty of the mission and the lack of warning. Sure its easy for some of you guys now that there have been a ton of losses and you get to do nothing but gain from my misery. I am sure if I would have better information I could also have done the picture perfect loadout to make this mission sucessful. Losing a battleship in less than 30 seconds is excessive no matter what your loadout is seems hard to handle for me to stomach. My loadout was 6 250 rails, mwd, 4 cap recharger I, phototonic cpu enhancer,type-e power core mod, diag system, large armor repairer, med armor repairer,2x energised adaptive nano membranes. Preach on about all your superior skills and such and about whiners like me....But if I wanna hear a butthole personally ill fart.
