I agree. Dont warp in of you dont know what a Mordus cheeta is or any of the others. I did that as the optimist I am asuming it was easy even tho I never seen any of those rats before. Anyway the mission is just as hard as the blockade if you do it in a caracal.
The first wave is deffinetly the hardest. Kill the Mordus mercenary first and atleast its possible to warp out. Great mission. The loot from them could have been a litle better but there was some named loot atleast :) GG CCP _____________________________________________

My 2 isk...
I loved the mission :-)
I was spanked hard, but finally I sent them all home to the cloning station.. hehe
Way to go, CCP!
And yes, warped in, took out the scrambler frigs, docked and refittet with medium guns ;)

I survived this mission in my 'phoon. Talk about adrenaline rush! I was down to 30% hull in my armour-tanked 'phoon. But I got them all with some good loot also.

i have to agree this mission is awesome although i locked the katanas before the bounty hunters which was a noobie error and i almost paid the price.......it really does seem like ccp are now allowing the really good stuff in eve to surface which is always good.....it got the same rush from this mission as i do trying to go through the heavily camped a2 in querious

I took this mission on in a Rupture with my usual npc mission running setup, warp in at range, choose keep at range, lock down the target and fire all weapons. BIG MISTAKE !!!
Theres no way you can take on this mission like that. I did actually manage to take out the first wave of ships in 2 attempts but the second wave warped in way inside my optimal range and after warping in and out to get a good range for me i found they managed to close down the range to fast for me to make a kill before my shields would drop and i'd be forced to jump out again. Six times i tried to take them out but they dealt way to much damage to me to be able to stick around and eventually i had to call in a corpmate in a typhoon to finish off the mission for me
I was actually lucky to be wearing one kinetic shield hardener and thats probably what kept my Rupture alive but you see i have a generalised setup that works for all mission rats at least up until that mission because i cant be bothered refitting my ship for each different rat i come across. I even use 2 or 3 different types of ammo in my guns because if 1 gun doesent do the job another will.
However, the next time i take that mission i'll be refitting for as much kinetic protection i can muster, maybe a mwd and shorter range guns with specific ammo in them as a long range setup wont work against these babies.
I loved this mission. Scared the hell out of me as i wasnt prepared for it and i hope it doesent get nerfed just because like me people had got lazy. Also if you'll notice this mission along with the new multiple drop off courier mission is the first step towards group missions so people should be thankful that CCP has given us the opportunity to train towards group missions before they actually appear, Next time i take this mission, i'll be looking for assistance and if this happens on a regular basis ppl will start to consider combining setups to work as a team instead of as individuals.
By all means add a warning for the unwary and lazy people, though in my opinion... job well done CCP

I haven't tried out this mission, but I can't wait to try it (after a corp mate got wasted by it). I always carry a can that has modules for different missions, though lately, my apoc hasn't had any problems at all with all the missions types, with a kind of setup. Including is a overall armor res of 70% and a t2 med repairer (though I have to add my named large rep, I see). From the info about the rats, I see that a high thermal/kinetic res, you will be pretty safe.
My question is, will a (four actually) Heavy Modal Blaster I with a tracking computer II and a webifier be able to take out those intys? And what range does the ships orbit at? I read optimal range for most of the ships on eve-i (as eve-db isn't updated yet) but will the Lion (as an example) move out of it's 17.5km optimal range? I have 4 blasters for range between 0-10km and 4 heavy pulses for ranges from 10km to about 30km. But optimal is about 7.5km and 15km for the two types of guns. (considering tracking, damage types etc).
Though I'm missing the missile launch rate on eve-i (it's featured on eve-db). Is it so bad that I need sb's/defenders or is a good tanking enough to take the beatdown?

I had this mordus mission get me yesterday. I was flying a drone cruiser for this job and didnt had much of a trouble so far. Having never met the mordus guys before (I READ the mission description to see what to kill) I thought bunch of frigates and 1-2 cruisers, shouldnt be much of a problem, as I saw what was waiting for me, I turned around and clicked warp to station, but it was already too late cause the 2 bounty hunters had already closed the distance very fast. I launch all my drones on a suicide mission to save the ship, though they couldnt place reasonable hits to kill them and then the rest of the "guests" arrive putting me into a pod.
Later in the evening a corp mate gets his moa and me in my malediction, I start diverting missile fire (though I suspect he could also do it without my help) and he starts slicing and dicing them up; finally I come to this conclusion that it isnt so difficult if I knew what was awaiting me.
Most of the time my agent tells me "be careful this can be a difficult mission" and what I get is to vaporise some frigates, so please dont expect me to listen to that guy. I wished we were warned before about this mission in the ingame news ("New agent mission added, it might prove to be difficult for some, be careful, etc").
Finally, I really pity those who lost a battleship over this, and thank god I only lost a couple million cruiser (I could retrieve some of my named modules, and that was actually my main concern). I sure wont accept this mission in the future as the reward is an insult; 300k-400k, what the?

Raven, the Rupture would do much better if it was armor tanked. You have to rely on your heavy launchers for firepower of course because you won't be able to put 4x 720s on with armor tanking but the launchers do more damage anyway.

I've noticed that too. "Thank god! I didn't think you would come back alive" after ganking a 30k cruiser and some frigates. The warning shouldn't be given unless it's difficult for it's level or it's at the start of some tutorial line of missions.
About the news, I think the forum is news enough. I think that is how it should be played. At the most some warnings that some type of rats have appeared and agents are sorting them out by sending their best agent runners to deal with them, but how do you know if a street is dangerous in a city? Word of mouth of course..!

Edited by: Prothos on 02/09/2004 14:04:00 I like the mission. I have done it 3 times now in a caracal. i lost all shields and ran out of missles the first time a and had to dock to get more ammo. The 2nd time i came in with 500 scourge missles and completed it with no shield damage. 3rd time lost all shields and small amount of armour but that was due to lag. i warped in at 60k range, lagged the next thing i knew i had 3 ships at 9k range and no shileds. i warped out repaired and returned to complete the mission. I use a caracal 5 named heavy's firing scourge missles cruser skill is at lvl4 and i was hitting them at 60k+ range 10mn mwd named shield recharger named reactor recharger warp stab. ballistic control
i found the key for me is keeping the range

I have only played EVE for 1 month and really didnt have a problem with it. Hope all the whinning doesnt change the mission. As to not having a warning about it, thats the whole point, Suprise!!!! If i had lost my raven, i would be blaming myself not CCP, just as i blamed myself for loosing 4 other ships on missions, period.
