Come on no one f*cking "liked" the old system, we tolerated it because there were no options...
The new system is broken due to bugs and unfinished polish left and right that have been pointed out that CCP promises to look at and resolve...

ON THE TOP LEFT, there are a set of LEFT POINTING CHEVRONS. Click on this, Unified Inventory Index goes away, and you never have to use it again.
GREAT solution! I pressed it! Now I have my ship cargo bay where I want it, small, to the side. But I can't find my Corp Hangar now. Guess I never have to use it again. So of course you have to use it.
- Bookmarks are STILL not sorted. Closing in on the third major updated for a 1 hour fix that can save lives.
- And yes, the new "inventory" system. Choosing between a small tiny window perfect for a ships cargo and then have the Corp hangar stuff in the same tiny window, or having the few items you have in cargo open up to the size you want the Corp hangar window to be. Not a good solution. This was not an issue at all before, no "fix" or improvement was needed. It could only get worse, and it did.
Otherwise, all good. |

The old Items and Ships functions + window settings had more functionality! It was more intuitive and easy to use, not to mention FASTER loading. If windows 3.1 would be faster and more useful than windows 7, I'd stick with it! I don't like shiny new crap only cos it's shiny and new. As I have mentioned in other posts why can we not add our own short ID/Name to any POS stucture up to a max of say, five/six chars, we dont need you to remove your ingame names etc: especially as you offer the option but it dosn't work , not that that is any real surprise here, still we now have INVENTORY! now if you use it and look at your Multiple corp hanger arrays WOW surprise! they all appear the same with no way to differentiate them, DO YOU GUYS really ever play EVE AT NORMAL PLAYER LEVEL TO SEE WHAT IS GOING ON? result more click fest to see which one is which and what is in it, from that point of view your standard name is now pointless. Might suggest you change your bedfellows and see what an normal average player wants / needs in EVE. |

Yes. Plus local is messed up in a variety of ways, one being that logged off people still appear in it long after they log.

Had they left things exactly as they were and simply added a window forthe new UI in the neocom we would have been ecstatic.
I think instead they messed with some base code, and instead of rewriting to current code standards and then expanding to include a new unified inventory option, they just overwrote altogether. Whoever made that call to take that shorcut is the guy who needs to be getting called on the carpet at the corp offices in Reykjavik.Quality control should have caught it as well.PR dept should have put the brakes on till it was sorted and polished.Still some Corparate dysfunction at CCP. Improvements have clearly been made, but there are also clearly more than vestigial remantsof that which ailed them for so long, and alienated so many customers last year, and in fact, over the years.

The navigation through the new unified items window is difficult enough. Having the Corp hangar as part of it is now crippling. The delay on acknowledging the corp tabs are there is frustrating, there is constant issues trying to drag items between corp tabs; and if you are trying to pull from containers in one tab to drop in another tabGÇÖs containers , just forget about it.
There was a reason that the ships, times, and corp hangars were all separate windows before. With them all in one now, there is great difficulty with interacting between them.
Looking through the forums, it seems there was enough playtest feed back on these kind of issues that the unified items window should not have been included at this point.

OK, the new inventory system is total S***
When I dock, I want to have a window for my hangar, a window for my corp hangar with tabs to switch between hangars, a window for my ships hangar and a small window for my hold. If I double click on a container I want it to open in a new window., and if I double click a ship I want it's hold to open, not for it to become my active ship.
I also want the windows to be exactly where I have had them for the last 9 years.
I don't need to know the volume of the stuff in my hangars, or the value of it, and I certainly don't need the huge frames round the windows.
Also, WTF doesn't my active ship appear in my ship hangar so I can right click it if I want to leave it? Now I have to minimise my corp hangar window and right click the ship model in the main screen to do anything with my active ship.
Basically, please get rid of this crap and give us back the old system, this new one is a total and complete and utter mess and should never have made it off the drawing board let alone onto Sisi, and certainly not onto TQ.

I like the new windows idea and concept.
Dont like a few things that kind have came with it. For example:
1) Corp Hanger is part of the mass inventory. Honestly the old way was better i could actually flip from each hanger division when im fitting pre fitted ships to sell to corp or alliance mates or just put on contracts. Plus you cant set it as its own seprate window. honestly it was a feature that was fine how it was so the old saying of if its not broke dont fix it. It takes long to check things as well as figure out which hanger is which now. ~ To boot why make it so obvise as to the asset worth of corp hanger? I mean unless your strigth out trying to encourage theft (then again this is eve, But why make it that much more easy for someone to do stuff like that)
2) I noticed is you cant have more than one linked fitting up anymore so when someone gets a few fits and wants to see which one they like more they have to close it and open it again rather than looking at both at the same time. Again Im not saying that everything is bad with the new feature but there is def some things that shouldnt have been messed with and this is one of them.
3) Cargo holds for ships. Why not let us keep the option of double clicking on the ship for a cargo bay window but changed that to making the ship you double click your active ship... Makes it a bit of a pain when your going to resupply all your pvp ships cagro holds and you have to activate each one in order to open the cargo bay as a window like how it use to be. (I havent even looked at messing with the carriers on other charaters yet and im sure i'll have plenty of say on whats wrong there.)
This is just the things I've noticed so far but in reality there was nothing wrong with how things were and to be honest its going to make the game a pain trying to relearn how the whole UI works when your having to do stuff on the fly in game. Honestly Just make the new inventory set up as a Optional thing Kind of like who you have the CQ's and the ships hanger (Or did you forget how that option ended up came about?)
All I really like to say is its nice to have the options by keeping whats already there and making it optional between it and the new stuff. (then again it probably has to do with code and what not which means more "work" for you to creat those options) |

New inventory is terrible in so many ways :-(
- Ship hangar pops up after jumps/dock. Seriously? - It doesn't remember anything. No detail selection, no hangar selection at a pos, no window position. I select a certain view in my ship hangar, and when I dock my ship and item view is the same. That's so not good. - Window stacking was fine, now it's just a pita - if you get it to work. |

I loved the old system, and I would much rather have it than this unified mess.
I loved having separate windows for my hold, personal hangar, corp hangar, ship hangar, open containers, other ships holds.
That way I knew exactly where I was moving things to.
I loved being able to click one button to select a member's hangar to drop stuff into, now I have to scroll down the unified list to find the member, and right click to open it in a new window.
I also loved not having masses of screenspace taken up with completely useless information such as the volume of my hangar contents or their value. In 9 years I have never needed this information before, I don't see why I suddenly need it now.

Celeste Nightsong wrote:I honestly don't know why people hate the new inventory so much. I quite like it. Simplifies things down to one window. Sure... it will take some time to relearn it, but for the love of God, spend some time learning how to use it. Don't spend five bloody minutes, conclude you hate it, and then ***** at CCP for screwing it up.
Just try this: Go 24 to 48 hours with the new inventory. If you still hate it then, then come on the forums and yell at CCP to do something about it.
Here are a couple of reasons I hate it.
1) If you've got a POS, finding anything in the tree is next to impossible because it lists every single module with a cargohold of some type. If you've got 20-30 guns, that's 20-30 items that you have to scroll through to find a ship assembly array. Solution: If a gun/array/whatever is out of range, leave it out of the UI window
2) Mining or using an Orca it is a massive headache to shift-click multiple times while sorting through multiple tabs to get 3 windows open as needed, not to mention any changes seems to reload/resort the entire window which means it takes twice as long to find something if you're looking for it.
3) Salvaging. Yeah. Right. Takes ages and ages to loot wrecks, because the damned UI reloads your cargo after clicking the Loot All button. You can't stack container windows easily to quickly loot them, but have to do each one individually now, while waiting the 10-40 seconds on the UI window to reload your cargo again and again and again because you CAN'T DO ANYTHING ELSE UNTIL IT'S DONE!
4) Shift-clicking is a pain in the arse.
5) Did I mention shift-clicking is counter-intutive? |
