Quote: Well, maybe they should actually test their patches out before deploying them, instead of deploying them THEN "discovering" problems randomly all of the sudden. Isn't that was SISI is for in the first place? Discovering these problems, and fixing them before the patch is released? It's a little bit annoying, and very un-professional. They must have outsourced to India, or China or something.
It would have been completed an hour ahead of time if that were the case

Quote: Downtime for deployment of Incursion 1.6 has been extended to 18:30 UTC due to issues we have discovered with starbases. We are currently reviewing the fixes before opening Tranquility to the players.
CCP's QA is crap. Why is this issue discovered AFTER the patch release? If you are not ready for a patch then leave it on your test servers until you are sure everything works fine. The bugs you need to fix during the downtime are the ones you cannot produce without a number of players, not the one from your test cases before the server is even avaliable to public. If every shyt happens on the live server then what's the point of your test server anyways?
maybe because there are no starbases on the test server..
is the Sisi players to blame not to put some starbases?
i knew this reply will come... u know what i mean, starbases on the test server are erased and those few built after that are nothing, and are not the same like the starbases on live server :)

Technically, Starbucks has had some of the same issues with their coffee being too hot as well.
Be smart, buy a Keurig coffee machine for your home and never pay for it from a drive through.

Thank you.
Maybe it's because the CCP crystal ball is broken? We aren't talking about 1 server maybe connected to one db server and a web front end. I love how everyone everyone who's written 5 lines of vbscript is suddenly an expert on software deployment.
And yes, I want my 6 cents for the extended down time. I figure if i throw in my 2 cents for every post, that's 3 posts payed for.
They Could : over shoot the time ie tell us the update will be between 10am and 8pm this way when its finally ready at 6 everyone is happy and loves ccp for bringing them there patch early lol

So jed what your saying is people who use plex are not getting game time taking off when they have no skills in training?

Doesn't matter if you're using PLEX or credit card - it's still a deadline at the end of a month or three etc.. crediting time back also means you have to stop those accounts training during downtime in order to make it fair, which would be horrible.

THIS IS PRESIDENTE ACTUAL!
I tell you there's hope for all whiners and noobs: since I have crossed the 70m SP border I lost interest in taking care about a skill queue. Unbelievable crazy, isn't it? Yesterday I found out that my actual skill was stopped for 20 hours - I repeat: TWENTY HOURS!!! - due to new implants. I simply had forgotten to turn it on again. I HAD FORGOTTEN TO TURN ON MY ACTUAL SKILL. So... I just... turned it on!!! I lost 20 hours of skilling and I don't care??? Do I need help??? But it's going more crazy: I can stop skilling for 3 months and I still kill player the same way. There must be something wrong with the game's concept. What happened to me? Where's my addiction? Why am I not nervous and agressive because the INSANE 500 mb patch followed by hot-fixes isn't available yet? And if so: how long will it take to dl? Will it take hours because those damn noobs started first? Will the patch kill my installation? Do I have to reinstall? Will the server be shut down again because of issues? Questions over questions. I am so relaxed and calm... it's frakking scary. I am not bored in RL... it's damn frakking scary. I have no wife agro... it's... not that bad.
ACTUAL OUT!

Lol. I suppose you believe space aliens run the governments? They credited back time cause the server was down for days, not just a few measly hours.

third degree burns? She deserved that for trying to open the lid to add her sugar/cream?
No, she deserved it for trying to do it in her damned lap. You see, car seats sit at an angle which means your coffee is technically tilted, towards your crotch. Add momentum of trying to move away from the drive through and the coffee moves even further towards your crotch. Having to move your legs to operate pedals and spillage of full beverage is almost unavoidable once the lid is off.
Hence, it may be McDonald's fault the coffee was hot(despite it being labeled as hot coffee), but the spill in her lap was her fault as she chose to place the beverage in her lap.
It's also her fault for not owning a Keurig. Anyone who makes coffee any other way has failed.

Guys seriously... I am a programmer my self. Just the complexity of the game makes every new patch a nightmare. Its (and what ever programmer you are) really hard to predict what might go wrong and what might work despite tests.
I feel we are judges of mighty proportions I really love Eve and I will still support the game, thank you.

Edited by: Jed Clampett on 31/05/2011 17:56:30 Really overall I am impressed with CCP uptime for game. Most of the recent patches have gone pretty well too. None have been disasters were load of stuff was lost or software had to revert to prior version.
Still the standards for large scale PROFESSIONAL service is: less than maximum scheduled time == EXCELLENT within 10% of estimated time == GOOD within 15-20% of estimate == MEDIOCRE within 25-30% of estimate == premature/substandard over 35% of estimated time == BAD & need to review/revise how plans and estimates are made
so yes by today's standards CCP succumbs to overambitious schedules or incomplete preparation on occasion.
However, that still does not make their overall service unsuccessful. Keep in mind that CCP provides a unique service, particularly in gaming world and that excluding patch time CCP does excellent job of uninterrupted service.
Heh its funny to observe how many other software companies thrive on that "unique service" clause. Plenty of room in special software services to avoid competition that might make you look bad.
