Oh it is so easy to be negative, and in parallel utterly stupid. This is EVE Online, learn to take advantage of everything and don't bloody whine. Reading these lovely release threads is like bathing in the possibilities of all the simpletons that can be abused right after the downtime.
Be smart, play the game, and roll with the patches. Have not had a single grey hair come out due to any of the changes in the past four years. Can't say the same for some of you who already have a bald patch from just the past six months. |

Still new at this game - I have tried looking for the patch dnload link for the update [Windows from Incursion 1.6.1 to Incarna 1.0 is 757 MB], while awaiting the Tranquility server's up. My question is: do I need to await for the game to be up [21.00 utc] to get that patch, OR can someone link me to it please?
Thank you.
If you're smart you'll wait until the official patch is released after they upload it to the main server, the patch floating around on the forums has been known to break the client for some users

the login screen may change in a relatively short period of time, its to show off the turret animations primarly

In a few hours you really won't notice or care, unless ofcourse you plan on staying on the login screen while the rest of us are blowing **** up.

Doing so, all the previous mentioned people really leave the game, and the people who bought their computer in this decade, and play MMO -RPG- because they like MMO -RPG- will be able to have a better game.
My PC has around 2.5 years in my use, and still run 4 EVE instances at ease, and I havent upgraded this PC EVER. I agree EVE is boring lately, and it is boring because you cant really feel the excitement of being part of EVE universe because it has many "reality checks" to enable old pcs, button smashers and general whiners play it.
Well, you know, I bought my machine about half a year ago. And although it may not be the most Ub3rL33T gaming rig around, it still has rather nice specs. And you know what? CQ murders my machine by putting the (Nvidia!)GPU at 100%, the CPU at 95%, with one client running (all settings at low/none/off) and giving 10-15 FPS back for the trouble. And yes, I have thoroughly tested it both on Duality and SiSi. Just so you know that not all people complaining about performance in CQ have antiquated computers build in the stone age.

Marche ou crFve.
What Darwin failed to note is that there are always tards that think THEY are evolved.
I so agree on this. I don't wanna go back to pixelized Space Invaders! I don't want 2D space ships, that look like glued squares, floating above a scrolling background.
Give me the real stuff, live Eve Online! And now I can even walk around in a space station and actually look at my ship! That's pushing the boundaries of a space game! In a good way!
Keep up the good work CCP.

So im reading through this thread and notice that everyone *****ing about the unprobable t3's are mostly saying the same thing(***s are making 100m isk per hour and they cant be touched blah blah blah) when the real problem is that the missions are clearly to easy.... i "had" a t3 link toon myself and will probably have to get him into a CS now but i did like the idea of a t3 command ship being able to be unprobable it fit in well with the overpowered t3 business so i think CCP should modify the command link subsystem to make it very hard to probe you down atleast.

I know we all expected that it would go on longer, and i'm not one of those idiots who will be all 'OMG it's 5 secconds after they said i want my money back' but when will CCP learn that if they said 'we're gonna have the servers up by 22:00 tonight rather than 17:00.
That way when the servers go live at 21:00 all the n00bs will be like 'OMG 1 hour early, we love you CCP' rather than whining.

13:10 UTC Database updates are taking longer than originally estimated. Because of that, we are extending the downtime until 20:00 UTC. Thank you for your understanding.
14:00 UTC Deployment is still underway, and the database is being stubborn. Current estimate for opening Tranquility for the players is 21:00 UTC. Once again, we would like to thank you for your understanding and hope to see you in the game soon.
14:30 UTC Deployment is still underway, and the database is being stubborn. Current estimate for opening Tranquility for the players is 22:30 UTC. Once again, we would like to thank you for your understanding and hope to see you in the game soon.
15:25 UTC Deployment is still underway, and the database is being stubborn. Current estimate for opening Tranquility for the players is 23:00 UTC. Once again, we would like to thank you for your understanding and hope to see you in the game soon.
17:00 UTC Deployment is still underway, and the database is being stubborn. Current estimate for opening Tranquility for the players is 00:00 UTC. Once again, we would like to thank you for your understanding and hope to see you in the game soon.

this is true.
However, WOW sells "stories" for their mmo and a linear story path with added features to the main game. It feels more inline with how an rpg game is marketed. RPG, RPG add-on, then RPG II
Eve started with a wider world...well...galaxy...and uses stories to strengthen immersion through updates but is not reliant on story driven gameplay but rather player driven gameplay.

Ok, here's one guys. I don't like the name Incarna. I think it's stupid. I think they should have called it "Extreme Eve 5000!". Again, just kidding. I just felt with all of the worthless whining for the sake of whining everyones doing, I might as well pick just as much of a stupid thing to whine about also. :P

This is kinda what I was talking about earlier. CCP should just set a static completion time with a large contingecy built in, and just stick with it. It can be 8, 12, 24, 36 hours! Predictability is underrated imo
oh and I'm sure there will be players who complain if the servers come back up early and they were late finding out

It is easy to say something sucks. It is your opinion though.
It is however recognised as a highly successful game by the gaming industry, which was marketed well to players, that appeals to a wide range of people, and which was highly successful in moving players from their solo game playing to online game playing.
Edit: However, having played it for 3 months I got bored.
fyi, Warcraft 2 is one of my fondest pc gaming memories.
