Uhmm... they're vanity items, IE: if you buy one you're likely to buy more or keep the aurum for when more come out, this sort of consumer mentality is amusing to say the least, like a child who cannot get all the toys he wants at once.

stuff won't cost 1aur each - i'd expect, given the exchange rate, for it to range from 50 aur (about 21cents or 5.4m isk) to 400aur or so (about $1.70 or 43m isk)

You must have missed out on the bit about players being able to sell their Aurum purchases for isk. Could be a very good deal for people who buy PLEX for ISK.

The new player experience has gotten somewhat easier but is far from the level of traditional MMOs are at, 0.0 has gotten less easy to live in, pvp is still getting borked every now and then by ******ed blobs but that's been around for longer than the idea of walking in stations was pitched by CCP. I suggest you delete your post, no arguments posted, only a smug attitude, shall I guess you moaned when sanctums got the nerf?

It says something about your maturity. It also conflicts with what you said earlier about players with "Experience, Brains, and Ideas"... a maturity of which you do not seem to represent through your phraseology.
your logic is valid. i am an old fool. those who left had far more brains than i have and predicted what direction was eve going.
and that direction will be... growing income. it's about money and nothing else. since avg. IQ of players is dropping sharply nowadays, cccp is trying to adapt itself and not go out of business. hence the idea of changing eve into wow. making this game easier and simpler with every patch. eye-candy effects over content and quality.
till this very day i had to CLICK to do what i wanted... now i will have to WALK to be able to CLICK to DO what i want... if that's evolution in terms of GUI...
Graphical improvements are important for competing in the industry, though I place a higher importance on functionality, features, and immersion. What people are forgetting is that this is a stepping stone, and not a shiny new graphics offering.
I have not come across any factual information or qualitative studies conducted in order to judge the avg. IQ of players in EVE. If you have factual information to back up your comment, I would be very interested in seeing this! It would be of great help to me in what I am doing outside of EVE.
I have not come across changes in EVE that make the game simpler to play. There are improvements in user interface and interaction, but complex features have not been dumbed down through automation imo. Can you give an example other than evolutions of interfaces such as scanning.
EVE has evolved and become better since 2003, there are still improvements to be made, but a lot of players are viewing the walking in stations as a gimick and I do not believe this is what it will be in the future.
I am not a fanboy of EVE at any strech of the word. I play EVE over other mmo offerings because of the better player driven interaction and communities, etc. The EVE game is being broadened, but I couldn't compare it to becoming WOW'ish at all.

That is incorrect. Either we pay for these "expansions" with our subscription fees or these projects are funded separately though investment returns or other sources of capital. In short, there is a very good chance that the monthly subscription fees or purchased PLEXes are funding this software development work.
Nothing in business comes for free. Nothing.
Kudos for stating the obvious ! I just cant stop lmfao every time thread trolls say ccp is so kind to give us free patches , it is so apparent all they care about is their wallets ! Take this useless ken and barbie crap they are currently adding to draw in even more newb-tards , FIX THE DAMN LAG , so we can melt face without crashing the server , PLEASE
Stop whining crybaby, what did you think CCP was doing? It's legit business. You aren't going to work for fun are you?
Their business is to make money by keeping us entertained. So why should they intentionally mess with us? It's just that simple.
Eve keeps evolving, and that's much more than most of the MMOs out there can claim of themselves.
I'm keen on seeing CQ and finally walking in stations go live, along with all the other improvements they are constantly making.
Regarding your "fix teh lag" thing, you don't read devblogs, do you?
I'm kinda asking myself who's the newbtard here. Maybe start of by posting with your main.
lol troll bites , god patch day is so much fun !

Some people really dont get it ? Do they ?
Vanity Itens are for people who doesnt mind paying sub for 6 or 12 months at once, and will spend it in Aur for tons of things, or tons of accounts. MT is indeed for people who doesnt mind about the 100 or so euros spent in what you say is useless, but they dont.
Maybe it is time for some people learn once and for all, that not all players want the same things, and if CCP does what they do, they must have a pretty good number of survey answers to support that it is what many players want.

Edited by: Even So on 21/06/2011 16:39:56 You know, Since I keep reading posts about this, out of all the things to dislike about the new patch, why are people upset about being forced to finally make avatars? Actually why didn't they before? There seem to be several people mad at this, and I didn't see an explanation why.
Maybe I am missing something but if you don't want to take the time, just use the randomize buttons and your done in 15 or so seconds
Edit: Different Topic
I never bought for wow WOTLK and Cataclysm expansions since I already paid for Burning Crusade on top of the original World of Warcraft. And since I never paid for the two recent patches for wow, I could not use most of the new content that came with the patches.
To me paying a subscription per month and not paying for patches means I don't have to pay extra for the expansions like I do with a lot of other mmo's.
That means the expansions were free.

A while ago after one of the Incursion patches bookmarks viewed in the solar system map stopped showing their info (essentially whatever it was named) by hovering the mouse over them. The information is still available by right clicking the bookmark (again, in solar system map) and editing it.
I know other people noticed that too but I'm not clear if that's a bug or 'design' (to unclutter the solar system map, or something).
The ability to reposition peripheral probes symmetrically via holding ALT was an awesome improvement to the scanning process, but this bug (or feature) takes something from that improvement, time-wise.
If that's a bug, will it be fixed now?
Another thing that seemingly only started happening recently (few days in my experience) is that signature bookmarks that were scanned by an user and given to another user end up pointing to the wrong coordinates in space. This has led me to delete tens of bookmarks by thinking those signatures (almost magically) had all despawned at once, though the user who had originally scanned them could still get to them.
Patch notes states:
Quote: An issue with making EVE's co-ordinate system Right handed caused bookmark 'thumbtacks' to appear in a flipped location in the solarsystem map when players took their bookmarks from 'People and Places', put them into their cargo holds, and then back to 'People and Places'. This has now been fixed. Thumbtacks re-appear in the correct location if the user logs out and then logs back in.
If I'm not missing anything that's alluding to what i just described. What I'm not sure is: does this fix still require the user to logout and back for the thumbtacks to refer to the correct position? If so, that's more of a workaround than a fix.
tl;dr:
- Please fix/bring back mouseover thumbtack information for bookmarks in solar system map view
- The mechanics for sharing BMs specially where they are most needed like in W-Space is already somewhat a hassle. Please fix it so its sharing at least work well enough like before (no client restarts or logouts required).

Found some duplication of text in the patch notes. Don't know if its intentional. But it looks wierd. (I'm just a bit picky)
Below "Features -> Virtual Store" you have at the bottom of the indented list "All clothing in the Noble Exchange can be previewed on a 3-D mannequin model via Show Info." and then the same text again at the bottom of the Virtual Store section.
And below "Changes -> Corporations and recruitment" you have these points right after each other.
