Found a small glitch; Alt+Tab'ing from the main menu (log in screen) causes the movement animation on the maller to freeze until it resets
Also, it would be nice to be able to customize the log in screen to a degree. I would like to see in station idealy. but being able to select the ship that flies past. the maller is now pimping, but still an ugly shape and not my cup of guaf (need to remove the dropping chin on it)

Hmm, worst patch ever? And still some people excited huh? :) Nothing interesting really for a core old school player and as always an introduction of some annoying and unnecessary changes (this time in probing). Also it looks to me like a start of those renowned micro-transactions... connected with our PLEX system unfortunately... Somehow I have a feeling that someone in CCP sits a whole day long and only thinks how to make the game more problematic for those players who have to feed on average their 2-4 accounts. Any new patch recently and I just expect something more challenging and less rewarding ;) As for EVE graphics... I lost my previous passive GPU (a bit over a year ago) thanks to EVE. It got overheated and started to produce nice artifacts heh. Now I just hope my current GPU can handle all those new "impressive" things.

Edited by: Sunbird Huy on 21/06/2011 13:24:11 Dear CCP(well, we can discuss the first word),
FIRST: I have been away from EVE for over 5 months, due to work and no internet access. My job is a well paid one, and in all this five months, I have been in contact with friends via e-mail only(only mail-client gets dial-up access to satellite, mucho expensive). Just got back like 2 weeks ago. TO THIS...
This was part of one of my mails: "Dude, I am getting myself a desktop machine with a large screen so I can f'ing enjoy EVE in full settings, breathtaking and f'ing awesome. On highest settings across the board. Just look up the market b4 I am back and send me some available rigs details..." I ended up buying a machine driven by AMD Radeon 6970(with 2gb RAM) and a 23" screen. The whole deal cost me a f'ing lot(which I don't mind), taking into account I live in country which average monthly salary is 1/3 of this machine's cost. It was a treat for myself.
Now I read your pathetic patch notes, and I am left with nothing but disappointment.
Second: With removal of unprobable ships, you have taken away any chances of guerrilla warfare to small groups. And there is no chance in hell that you are to reimburse the players that invested billions of isk into implants and modules for those setups, right? Because, your answer will be, you were just fixing a bug, amirite?
Third: I don't think that you are being fair to the players. It has been repeated by the player base, for years now, that needs for fixes to PVP are dire. Your path has turned 0.0 into a BLOBODROME, in which small alliances are not meant to survive. NAPFESTs only. Or your excuse will be: "but look, there is that small alliance holding 6 systems...and only 200 pilots in it, you see it's possible?" Of course, in 6 months, you will see that alliance stomped out.
This has gone so far, that now, ISK selling Russians can afford to camp gates with Titans and several SC's sensor boosted by 2-3 support ships, insta popping AF's and HAC's gangs which orbit at 100k, because they can. PVP has been consistently nerfed and small gangs are all but eradicated in 0.0. Unless you stalk for a casual sleepy farmer in a belt or something...which is not pvp...
In conclusion, you keep ignoring our questions and our plight. And all we get in return is MILANO/PARIS/NEW YORK in stations, sponsored by NVidia "the way it's meant to be played" TM.

Dude, the above graphics card will play EVE just fine and will look awesome. Don't get all upset because SSAO support is being removed for ATI cards. SSAO has never really worked right on ATI cards to begin with, by way of artifact issues as CCP has already commented on. CCP is doing the right thing here. SSAO is crap TBH and doesn't even improve graphics on NVIDIA cards very well.

Second: Unprobably ships was something they put in as a test but always have planned on removing it as it is flaw in the game design
Third: and that is the way life is, you think that cute little Japanese restaurant with 6 kids working the stove will last more then 6 months? get over it, its the way the cookie crumbles.

Personally, I say thumbs up to you CCP for continuing to try and move towards a game that avoids nonsensical exploits and for working to keep you game looking fresh and up to date. I would hate to see EVE go the way of so many other long running MMO, aging poorly because their owning companies are to cheap to go about updating graphics.
The changes to eliminate unscannable ships will not have great impact on the number of people using T3 boosting alts, it just means the players will need to pay slight attention to the alt and keep them moving around in system. In a month or two it such will be the norm. This is no different than ultra deep safe points. A degree of risk is the balance to the benefit of the command link bonuses.
As for graphic cards, the nVidia and ATI do not play well together. There are minor elements to each card that makes them unique. So CCP is programming in favor of one over the other. Guess what, it happens all the time in the gaming industry.

There are few things that I must agree with ofcourse. Not everything is good in CQ, but Incarna gives huge potential to evolve EvE and thats cool. F.e I would love to see main screen in CQ to be fully customizable so I could see what I really need (like price changes of selected stuff/minerals) or timers to end of industry jobs. Also it would be cool that screen for PI would show us actual planets status (like time to ECU run end or how much free space left in launch pads - without opening planets), not only link to S&I window. I also think that character is moving much toooooo slow. And why the hell I can't go down to my pod by my own! And where is pod room with screens shown on Incarna taser?
...and I will be really really really missing this fast camera rotating round the ships in hangar when bored.... ____________________________________________ Character creation using 2 screens |

Oh no doubt it will. I am well satisfied with the machine, the graphics are awesome, even with 2-3 accounts running parallel there's no issues at all, but, the way they are doing it, is just not proper. And what am I to expect next? It's not just my ordinary rage, but genuine chronic state -> I keep getting unpleasant surprises whenever I force myself to read DEV/GM notes on forums...

I hope that all of you who complain about the code, lack of features, priority of Incarna, or ATI compatibility have never coded, or had experience sustaining PR (Public Relations), because we can let your complaints go as ignorance. If you really want all these things changed, because you tout yourselves as so important, why don't you get a job at CCP and code for them and make everyone's lives easier with your mad skills. EVE is a hard beast to tame - that's why CCP is big, too. The best coders, designers, and directors aren't the makeup of CCP or any gaming company. The best have to deal with less-skilled people that work within their company and not just those outside of CCP, like you. Be thankful for what they give you. I'm thankful I don't have to pay $60 for every expansion. I'll admit, my Dell 390 is from 2006 and it runs everything fine, but some manufacturers do a better job than others, and it's up to the user to decide what their computer needs and budgets are.
In order to move forward, things have to get rearranged. That's how the EVE universe and the real universe move through time. If that means that old users are rearranged with new users, or users rearrange their old computer hardware with new hardware - we must move forward nonetheless. Who knows where your atoms came from. All of life had to get their atoms from something before them - whether it be the $hit from fish or the gas from plants (or planets). It's not like we're all unique one-time creations. Our bodies shed most of itself throughout its life only to rearrange its losses with newer consumables. Our planet came from our sun, and our solar system came from the atoms and reactions within our galaxy etc. I don't just play EVE, I play life.

I think this is an excellent change!
It hurts me pretty bad personally. I have two accounts that can each run 3 of the 4 unprobable T3s. That's a decent amount of training time and a lot of isk sunk into ships and fits that will need big adjustments. This will definitely make it more difficult for us small gang types.
Nevertheless, the change does far more good than bad. Imho, unprobable sniper BS, unprobable mission runners, and even unprobable links are bad for the game. So I welcome this change.
There is, however, one problem I foresee. Links can still be run out of POS. In my experience, the systems where gate camps are most prevalent are systems where the campers have POS. Being able to run T3 links out of POS (and, therefore, out of harms way) is a pretty big advantage.
What I propose is that links are made so that they do not work within POS shields. This will force the campers to run links with the same risks as the gangs that come to fight them.
I fully agree !

Welcome to Cider. CCP does not actually port EVE to OSX, they use Transgaming's Cider (a fork from a very old version of Wine) to run the client for them.
If you were running it under Wine on non-OSX I'd say you're missing a font (most likely Tahoma or Arial).
