Originally by: Crest Cutty Worst update ever. 3 meaningful changes (jump bridges, probing, unprobable ship nerf) and the rest is seriously worthless stuff (or stuff that only has a value to CCP as it paves the way for them to get deeper in our pockets).
I would have loved an updated that dealt with ship balance issues (angels ships, assault frigs, super caps, rails, gallente CS's), the technetium problem, lag, 0.0/wh industry, fighter/fb response, t3 frigs, faction battle cruisers...
Instead I pay for glorified barbies online and a slew of minor bug fixes (and don't tell me this crap is free, everything is monetized and passed down to the consumer). Way to be in touch with your player base guys.
Only bright side is hopefully this brings in some noobs from hello-kitty online that I can harvest delicious tears from with when I exploit their limited understanding of eve's complex set of rules. The type of people who will seriously enjoy playing space dress-up are not the same players that enjoy lawless space pirates online. Stop trying to change my game into something that it is not!!!
It's obvious you do not grasp the big picture of this development. This is the begining of a new realm of the game, where players can use characters as well, and go onto the planets, opening the door to planetary development and combat.
I'm glad some players are unblinkered and are seeing this
if wanted to play on a planet i'd buy bf3.... its a space game there doing it for the great cash cow ...

+1 for graphical shininess on ATI cards.
(After looking more closely at the patch notes, it appears perhaps you're just trying to be as depressing and negative as possible? Note that there's a whole world of difference between (I'm just randomly guessing at the reasons here...):
* We've added a shiny graphical feature for NVidia users! * Another new shiny graphical feature is added, but doesn't work on XP, as it's a DirectX10 / 11 feature. It still works for NVidia users on XP, however, because of their cunning driver hacks. * This particular shiny graphics effect doesn't work on Mac because of problems with the emulation wrapper, so we disabled it.
And:
* We've taken a shiny graphical feature away from everyone who doesn't use NVidia! * We've taken away another shiny graphical feature from a few more of you! * Die Mac graphics, DIE!!!
Note that if you want to be negative and go for the second option (or that option is actually more accurate, if you are just disabling features), sticking a "because of reason X" at the end would make them a lot more acceptable.

...and I was under the impression that EVE Online was a sandbox!
Mislead perhaps?
I wanna play the game the way they said I could, not how you think I want it!
Sandbox pfff.
The comparison to a sandbox is not that you have free control over the mechanics. It means they try to stick with laissez-faire on the market and player interaction as much as possible while the only external influence should be the decisions on the players and PLEX purchases. To make a "fair game" or to keep things moving it's not always possible to keep your hands out.
When tactics become unreasonable or offer a disgusting advantage, intervention is necessary to keep both sides from getting hurt (scaring victims out of gameplay leaves the griefer to starve). Many changes have been made that people generally didn't agree with, even elevated severely and threatened to sue or quit. I don't feel it's "just talk" but there haven't been many ruinous changes that didn't get resolved. I'm at a challenge to even think of one instance of it, or (prominent) people actually suing or quitting because their opinion went unaddressed.
I wouldn't want to tell anyone something so stupidly detrimental as "if you don't like it then get out", I definitely want people to have an opinion and share it with others. I just hate to see people be unrealistic or demand a status quo just because it benefited them personally. ------------------------------- The fox chases for her meal, but the rabbit runs for her life. |

friend of mine had same problem with the checksum error on download. he used internet explorer (32bit) for the download. i'm using opera built-in download manager and for me it worked easily. not sure if the browser built-in download manager affects this, but who knows :).

i can't believe people are *****ing about glitches being fixed that makes someone invincible. suck it up, if you found a glitch and you exploit it you would have to be really naive to think it wouldn't be fixed at some point in a patch.
and about CQ i understand some people have been playing since the beginning, and they don't NEED CQ. that is entirely logical. but i think in time you will have fun with it. like when full incarna comes out i doubt you will complain about setting up a corp office with exotic dancers for eye candy. just imagine being able to sit down with reds to formalize a cease-fire. or going out and getting drunk with your friends. i'm just asking for people to be open-minded.
oh and the graphical requirements, i see that as a problem for alot. especially for people using 8 boxes. they say it won't effect gameplay as much as one would think. but, i guess we will have to see.

NOT HAPPY...
I would suspect the game will run well with hardly any difference for you compared to Nvidia users?
Some minor features arn't compatible and it is partly to do with the AMD/ATI cards isn't it?
it's to do with nvida not ati/amd ..they pay cash and give the designers top end cards to use and in return ccp forget how to code for ati/amd. this way nvidia can say look are cards are the best which is very poor play ... there own cards will over heat and die ask those that go on the test server ..

Interesting news for me, I would not have thought that the cards would overheat and not rather throttle back, unless they are modified however?

Here is an idea, why not put a UTC time clock on the eve website. I have many of my friends ask for the translation time. Would it be that hard to install a clock?
And is it true that the turrets will retract now?

Hmm... I think that they are experiencing issues with the software itself. It sounds like Incarna may not be ready really, when you think about the fact they didn't seem to make the Video Card Compatability very broad, and it seems that the actual list of the updates goals seem to be a bit lack luster. I am all for the direction Incarna is going, but I don't think it is ready for us guys...
I think CCP needs to go back to the development table, and work out the bugs better, and make Incarna more complete. More importantly, with what Incarna offers right now, and how it looks graphically, I don't think the majority of players will be inspired by it. I think we should revert back to Incursion for awhile longer until Incarna is more complete.

The majority of data in the patch is replacement data for the changeover to a newer/better/ or more intricate programming I would have thought?
the packaged full download (not update) is hovering on upwards of 5gb?
Edit: moved a word from being plural to singular

just as you can do refit your ship at the ship maintenance array you will be able to refit the t3 modules is what i'm thinking you will be able to do.

several years have pass, and finally, as requested a zillion times, we will b able to walk in the stations ! I see that some people don't like the idea of "getting out", but, cmon guys!!! - this isnt like the real live, were u dont like ure selfs enough to mingle "the other" in a constructive way nor have the guts to do otherwise (thats why u can build u're avatar the way u like). Never the less, the rest of us are looking forward to be out there, even if our pc's dont hold it that well.
However, I don't see this as good if some graphic cards and cpu wont b abble to function. What is that? another allowed "profession" in EvE? If so, u better fix this fast. There are limits even for "piracy". (just like account AND servers hacking...)
I also would like to congrat CCP for the wonderful recent job whit the agents, learning ****y skills, tutorial, bpo/c, market and contracts. I remember the day tutorials and most everything was just about to undock and that was it; new comers was just unfairly ready to jump in to the mouth of the lazy geeky-wana-b-sharks in every possible way. I have see plenty decent people loosing interest in EvE and leave due to that.
bravo CCP, u guys are the best! some one must build the thingys to be destroyed later, thats ow the market goes. Its more difficult to scam now and more things and pilots to explode (and kill) will be available soon.
for the other professions, well, they talk now, but meh... its just a mater of time to see ninja dudes (nothing against them really, sounds fun in fact) and all the other low end species street walking the stations... |
