Edited by: Ruafo on 24/06/2011 13:02:13 CAPTAINÆS QUARTERS
Awesome stuff, well done in my eyes and the right step in evolving the game. I like the way ccp brings out real extensions and not just old stuff in new colors. But i also miss the old ship spinning stuff, thats true, and thats what i expected to stay when ccp said CaptainÆs Quarters will be optional.
NEW TURRET EFFECTS
Also awesome stuff some gun pictures are a little bit to dark but in general i like it.
PERFORMANCE ISSUES
Thats upsetting me, i noticed a temperature rise of about 10¦ and it looks like i will not be able to run more than one client anymore, because the second client brings my pc to critical levels.
I hope your already on that and it will be fixed soon?
AURUM, NEX STORE, VANITY ITEMS AND THE WAY TO MICRO-TRANSACTIONS
Aurum reminds me on games i don't like, mainly because of the politics their companies run. Vanity Items and that micro-transactions makes me sad, i liked that straight way ccp was going until now, that they were running completly different than those other companies. Now ccp goes more and more in line with them. With that you go out of my line. Makes me no more feel comfortable in your environment.
I run several accounts and iam willed to pay for them, because iam free too. But in the moment i have to pay for several things ingame to keep up with everyone, doesn't matter how slight the advantage is iam done with it seriously, thats not what i want to do in my free time and spend my money on.
So will there be a change in your business model?

A threat???
An insult, sure. An opinion, sure.
A threat??? Whatever CCP are butthurt, and when butthurt, they ban people, using words like 'threat' and 'hack'
It is a threat, and you are just lying to yourself if you want to deny that.
"Die in a Fire"
"I will burn you in a fire"
one is a wish the other is a threat - see the difference?

This game is really a victim of its own success because the player base is shewd and intelligent and engages on a whole new meta level.
I'm def hoping CCP can pull out of this. Listening better is really the key.
Eve players are generally about making isk, fulfilling their role, and ruining someones day. We value the in game economy, but we dont mind if CCP makes a little rl isk.
UI and game mechanic issues aside, this is how the launch should have played out chronologically from the bizdev:
- CQ with no noble market, but with a free basic wardrobe - CQ expanded with a meeting room so people can look at each other - Cheap NEX clothing items after players are bored with stock wardrobe - Cosmetic NEX ships, items - Premium NEX clothing items - Player customization and retail of clothing via NEX - Player cosmetic customization of ships via NEX - Premium Nex ships, implants, etc
I think that would have balanced the money grab with players expectations.

I echo the feelings of many when I say I'm fed up with the hateful comments toward CCP. Many people just need to get a life instead of constantly whining and griping because CCP didn't make the game YOU wanted.
Many of us, myself included absolutely love the CQ and turrets and felt they were much needed upgrades. The screen alone is an impressive piece of technology that shows a lot of hard work that CCP went above and beyond to produce.
As far as MT, people need to wait and see what happens and also consider that just because YOU won't buy a $68 monocle doesn't mean some wealthy alliance commander won't either.
The leaked newsletter is just what CCP Pann says it is. They throw ideas around for discussion many of which are plain ridiculous but they want to get feedback on the larger issue.
You want ship-spinning, here's a tip: Open fitting window, spin ship. Alternatively, open market window, spin ship. Honestly, I think this is just a bunch of whiney babies who can't stand the idea of change coming to EVE. Here's another hint...EVE IS CHANGING. Many of us feel for the better. So many of the BOV brigade just need to take a break and possibly grow up and realize that in the end, it is, just a game.

I sincerely hope that as a CEO of a middle sized company he understands that there is all the difference between:
- Selling PLEX for ISK to a dynamic and limited market with limited supply and demand and prices adjusting accordingly
- Buying items directly from unlimited supply from the devs with fixed prices
As well as:
- Using PLEX to get ISK to buy ingame items that have been and indeed can be manufactured in game
- Using PLEX to buy items that cannot be manufactured in the game that have ingame benefits
Buying directly from CCP removes the mechanisms that make the PLEX trading as it is tolerable. I will not speak for anyone else, but I personally can tolerate it as far as it is vanity items only.
Make no mistake though, CCP, I cannot and will not tolerate it if it extends to items with benefits.
Furthermore, with this action you are robbing the subscription fees of ours that have been and would be used to develop these items. They belong to the market as BPO's to further enhance the game. That is what we are paying you for.
CCP Soundwave should be repositioned.
Also 2003 player here. Please don't stop posting to this thread. Volume is the only thing CCP might listen to, although I doubt that they will.
He and most of the people in CCP are totally out of touch. So much so it's almost laughable, no wait it is laughable.

Edited by: Valeroth Kyarmentari on 24/06/2011 13:03:41 Wow... 114 (Edit: 118, 4 more pages while I typed this up) pages in about 12 hours. I hate to see someone try to wade through all of this.
The Good: Turrets, they look awesome.
The Mediocre: I run one client on a pretty new box, and it looks pretty good. Very imersive. You could do better though I think. It's a complitment to your design and art team that so many think you could do better.
People assume you've stolen resources away from them... and that is why it's so incomplete. You have one room. Not even 4 rooms for different station types. One room, and One walkway. Once you know how to do it... what's stopping you from doing it?
The other problem is that you've altered the game for so many people in a very fundamental way. You need to give them the option to keep playing they way they always have.
The Bad: 1. Your going to charge people who make free apps for your game? Is this true? Apps like EVEMON, EFT, and Aura make EVE more enjoyable for me. They are not making money off this software (they might be getting some ISK donations... but that is it).
2. Banning people for being outspoken? That's not going to help anything.
3. Micro transactions... if to be swalled at all need to be micro. You could have possibly headed down this road had you done it right. Now you've set back your own goals quite considerably.
4. This memo deal... that's going to stop alot of new customers. The fact that you have not responded to it, looks pretty bad to alot of people. Everyone is waiting for someone to go... "That is complete crap. We've never passed around a memo like that." But instead we just get stunned silence. Right now you need to be worried about keeping your existing ones. But down the road that is going to do more damage than anything else.
Quite honestly... if it were just one small thing, it would probably just be the normal whining. Really is the macrotransactions and the greed mentality that's ****ing everyone off. And in there rage they are being more outspoken about everything else.
For me... I was paying you monthly by credit card. I've turned off that automatic payment. Instead, I'm going to go month by month on PLEX (since I see it's cost already going down), for a few months... and see where things go.

What's the point? It's not like you will adress every question/consern in this thread ever. So it's just a start of "official rage threadnaught" to make it easier on forum moderators, nothing more. And moderartors (who are only ones getting a breather because of it) are not the ones who should be "soring things out".
Guess "wait and see if flames go out" strategy is still in effect... sincerely hope that attitude like this will make you burn in fire one day. |

A lot of gamer rage in this forum, but to be honest, you guys earned it fair and square.
Before anything, I would like to say thank you for stepping up as the sacrificial scape-goat and talking to us. Bravo to you. Facing this kind of forum assault has got to be daunting and I for one am glad you are doing it. Now, the items in question with Incarna (ascending order of importance)
1. Aurum to Isk conversion in the Noble Exchange. Totally ridiculous to think you guys are asking for more money for a virtual item than an actual monocle from Amazon.com. Although as long as these items stay strictly cosmetic.... Oh well. At least we'll know who to ransom before we shoot them through the cockpit.
2. CQ. Trying to use this ****ed up excuse for an interface is horrible. When we dock, we ought to see our ship spinning, if we want to get OUT of our ship, we ought to press a button called "Enter Station" and end up in our captains quarters. Then we can show all our friends our cool carbon technology hairdoo, and when they leave we can go back to the spinning ships because ships are what EVE is really about.
3. Heat issues. EVE already has some pretty serious heat issues, especially on Mac's. Totally unacceptable to think that a GAME could cause my computer to overheat and melt through my desk and to the center of the earth. No other game I have EVER played in the history of my long and glorious gaming career has EVER made me think about how hot my GPU or CPU was getting, why does EVE?
4. Your leaked PDF. If you fix NOTHING ELSE you better get a hold of this rabid dog and put it down quickly. I'll just leave off with a slightly edited quote from my favorite mentor: Yoda. "A Jedi's strength flows from the Force. But beware the dark side. greed, money grubbing, gluttony. The dark side of the Force are they. Easily they flow, quick to join you in a new patch. If once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny. Consume you it will, as it did many an MMORPG before you."

Originally by: Whitehound I am not going to unsubscribe. I could do, just as a symbolic gesture, as I have got enough ISKs to buy PLEX for like 3 years. I will however not use my ISKs to get me a single Aurum either. In EVE everyone is allowed to make mistakes and to recover from them, and so should you, CCP.
You once had a slogan, saying: EVE Online. One server. One universe.
The slogan felt strong. It meant we were all one community and we were in all that we do together. And whatever we do to each other happened in one big sandbox. All actions, no matter how small or big they were, were believed to come back to us, as good or as bad.
Now we have got two currencies and it feels like you have created a space for some 1st class customers and everyone else, who does not get themselves some Aurum, will become 2nd class. No more "one universe" ...
The players buying their ISKs from goldsellers were always around, but you kept them at arms length and nobody, including you, CCP, wanted to have them in-game. We all felt that if we let real world money take control over our game, then it would spoil the fun. And now there is Aurum and it feels like you are inviting all those players into EVE, who solve their EVE problems with real world money by rolling out a red carpet. Only the red carpet here is the Captain's Quarters / Incarna.
What I like about Incarna is the Captain's Quarter as a first 3D environment for my avatar. I also like the agent finder. I do not like the new 3D weapons and it feels disturbing to have them animated. What I am still missing is a map filter for miners, the ability to save orbit/approach ranges for each ship individually. Small things like this make me happy. I would never ask for vanity items as I do not want them. The new 3D weapons graphics is probably one child of this vanity item idea, meant to make space ships more shiny. But after all these years is the EVE community likely the last one that needs vanity items. Starting with EVE for me meant to leave all vanity behind and to start fighting. It is a fine learning experience and shall not ever be rewarded with vanity items (in whatever way).
So what you have done is to drop your child on the floor. There is nothing you can add to EVE to make the disappointment better. All you can do is to get rid of Aurum and perhaps give out those vanity items for free so we can all have a laugh. If you do not, then it will be felt as forcing your will onto the community, and it will cost you.
