Originally by: CCP Manifest Hey, I'll be tossing out some answers here as best I can as well, so forgive me for a second as there's a LOT of posts to digest in this particular thread and I'd like to get to as many as possible. I have been, along with MANY others at CCP, reading forums, Twitter, Facebook, blogposts, petitions, etc for some time now, so it's not like much of it will be a surprise, but still each person here deserves eyes on their post so here we go.
I also must emphasize that, as Pann said, we'll have a more "substantive" answer for you tomorrow "from CCP" on many of the things you guys are talking/questioning/legitimately complaining about... so I wanted to make that clear.
There have been a lot of meetings and, as I am sure you can all undertand, these aren't quite the easiest things to unravel, reravel etc.
Silence sucks, it's been too long.
Thank you Manifest, I have always felt you were committed to excellence!

I believe the views he expresses in the newsletter to be completely wrong, but I think if we give him and the other CCP guys a chance to see the player's perspective without personal attacks that drive them away from the discussion, they will come around to our side. Worst comes to worst we can just all unsub and the company will go bankrupt, but hopefully we can reach a compromise before that stage.
If Soundwave and the rest of CCP had talked to players like the CSM (or, you know, the guys under NDA who were hanging out with them all last week) about this they would have understood our concerns earlier. At this point we need more contact between devs and players, not less.

Originally by: Kaltor e'Daw Hi, I am a new player, I signed up about 2 months ago, and I was just starting to like the game. I have been a long time player of MMO's, involved with testing and feedback for probably most of today's main online games.
I always applauded EVE for being one of the only true sandbox type game that exist, and has done so PURELY on the backs of the players that inhabit it's universe. Unlike WoW, EQ2 or other such games, there are dynamic, human-generated 'quests' that exists within corps, and require no GM intervention to make it an epic arc.
And now, I fear that is to be taken away from myself before I even get a chance to experience it.
I know that tomorrow, SOE is to make a huge announcement on the future of Everquest 2. I also am pretty sure it is going to be along the lines of what happened to LOTRO, and I also know that the players there are going to be just as passionate about that decision as everyone here is about the newsletter and Arum decisions.
Both games are ageing. EQ2 is to be superseded by EQ: Next, and it sounds like EVE is to be left by the wayside in favour of CCP's new title. This is sad by itself. But EVE has the huge potential to continue as it has done so for many years; on the backs of the players.
If you truly want the game to die a painful death CCP, by all means introduce your GREED IS GOOD policy. Charge real money for weapons and ships. That's fine. Just don't expect many new players, such as myself, to share in this wonderous new vision. For without new blood being introduced into the game, it will slowly hemorrhage and bleed veteran players until there is nothing left but bots. You think this won't happen? Take a look at SWG sometime, and see what happens to a pretty good game when you eradicate its very soul.
In closing, I paid for a 60 day card. I cannot see me playing EVE much now, and I definitely won't be paying for another 60 days. Not unless this whole issue is resolved in favour of the players. Because they are what count. No players - noone to buy vanity and other Aurum items.
Then, perhaps, you might wish you'd left things well alone.
Quoting this EXCELLENT post.
Thank you. I feel it is important for new players like myself to be welcomed and wanted, not just by the established playerbase, but by the company - at the end of the day, a game such as EVE is almost an investment - can you IMAGINE how much real money you guys have spent in PLEX and suchlike?? You probably don't even think about it, such is the manner of the game (personally I think the PLEX is a stroke of marketing genius - probably the only RMT I have ever approved of).
How can players like me WANT to spend money on a game, when it could be the case I have to spend a hell of a lot of $$ to just make it past a frigate?? Are we going to see corps with not tax, but $$ requirements?
(I'm not even in a corp yet!) *sigh*

CCP Pann's post is the single reason I've not just cancelled all 3 accounts and walked away from eve
I'll give them some time to overcome the video atrocity that is CQ abd NEX. Atleast I can ignore the NEX and disable CQ for now.
So.. waiting to see the next post saying, "Hi loyal players, we did something really stupid and devalued the trust and friendship that has grown between you and CCP. Here is what we are going to do to make it upto you...."
CCP, I'll give you a hint. Whatever you say to fill in that next bit better be pretty impressive.
Your players are not cows to be milked, they are loyal friends to be nurtured.

"It could be said that the world is almost full of completely honest people...but I prefer to say that the world is completely full of almost honest people..." -Aura
Question for CCP: Have you looked at the business models and results of other MT games like "The Entropia Universe" or "Need for Speed: World"? While thinking about it there's a distinct difference between the PLEX system and other MT system games (Like Entropia or NFS:World).
PLEX: Helps stimulate in-game economy (as ships, fittings, etc. are player made) AND helps CCP's ROI, while being a somewhat fair and balanced system that gives players money to buy player made goods (and NPC seeded skills, etc.) to continue a cycle of supply and demand that is good for CCP and the customers. Competes with Chinese sweat shop money farmers.
Normal MT System: Ships/fittings/etc. - only creates profits for the provider company. Industrial players will lose market orders for their services. Skill Points - Instant player greatness, whether or not the player knows how to actually utilize these skills is beside the point, it's almost purely all profit for the provider company. Faction/Security/SOV - Those with the most money get treated the best, see above.
Admittedly if non-vanity MT items must be implemented to satisfy CCP's ROI, only things like an advanced "Cerebral Accelerator" might be accepted, instant rewards for straight up money is a sign of weakness.
Wisdom. Respect. Honor. Rectitude. Trust. Loyalty. These are things that CANNOT be bought.

Ok, I'm going to try to respond to CCP in the interest of dialog. This is about my 10th wall of text, a lot of it is going to be links to try to cut down on it (character limit doesn't help), so I'm sorry you'll have to click a bunch to know who I'm responding to.
CCP Pann #126 I'm glad you've finally acknowledged that it isn't fake, however, I do feel like your deflecting or avoiding the answer. There is a 70+ page threadtitan about this very issue. If you aren't willing to respond to it and can't answer questions about it then get those people, or get their boss. Something. THIS IS THE ISSUE HERE! If you can't discuss this... then what else is there....
CCP Manifest #327 To your last statement, yep...
CCP Manifest #440 It's unfortunate that Aurum is here to stay, and I agree it never should have been. From a business perspective I can see that you wouldn't want to remove an already implemented feature. However, now that it's in, how do we KNOW that you won't use it to turn Eve into the MT world that we all fear? What guarantees do we have that you won't use this to ruin the game? Remember, CCP's word may not mean much right now...
Furthermore I apologize to those that have threatened lives, it's a game and should never reach that level. However, I'm beginning to agree more and more with "I feel like these concerns are being swept under the rug, and even treated with outright contempt.". You are right that showing will be more important. Team BFF went a long way towards addressing players concerns about bugs and problems that have been left in the game for years. You need to put at least as much effort, if not more, into this.
CCP Manifest #447 I hope so
CCP Manifest #514 I don't think that was a "mistake" you can't be head of PR and just forget about the main reason behind the 70+ page threadnaught. In this case I'm not willing to give the benefit of the doubt, you just don't miss the players main concern like that. After reading replies, I think it was deliberately avoided. This is exactly why players feel our concerns are being swept under the rug. I realize there's probably nothing more you can say here, but there's my feelings.
CCP Manifest #529 While I don't think he should lose his job and there has been a very over the top reaction by the players, I hope everyone in CCP understands why. At the end of the day it's not just about what he said, he's entitled to his own opinions. It's about him KNOWING that we would have this kind of reaction. He knew players would hate MT, and every little thing that comes with it, ESPECIALLY things that directly affect gameplay. Yet he all but lays out the strategy to shove it down our throats anyway. I've said it in other posts, I liked Soundwave, I liked BFF and the alliance tournaments, he's one of the only CCPers who's real face and name I could pick out. Yet knowing what the players want and don't want, and going directly against it, we feel betrayed, let down. I'm disappointing in him, the trust there is broken....
CCP Manifest #583 From the press coverage so far you don't seem to be doing a very good job of backing that up. How can we even trust you when you say that, as another player pointed out?

OK, so I will make my first post concerning the EVE world in a long time.
Several issues arise right away: CCP Pann: in his first CCP response apology discussing what he see's as the major issues. Yes, he is in fact blind and could not afford said monocle due to too high a plex/isk ratios. CCP Manifest: and I quote "We know Incarna is also wanted and are working towards what many of you have wanted out of it. It just takes time." Really? Who...exactly, wanted Incarna. I joined an Internet SPACESHIP game 3 years ago. Coolest thing ever. As luck would have it the same company was going to....in the future, put out a FPS called DUST514.....I could do ambulation there if I chose to. It is pretty clear that the WHOLE of eve community doesn't like Incarna. Yet you jammed it down our throats anyway for the greater good of the CCP agenda.
I have 5 full accounts, including my son's account. I used to be able to run all 5 on my laptop.....in just a very few seconds on my laptop NOW, after Incarna, My fan goes double overtime, 1 client running. PS: I also use a fan wedge under it, always, doesn't help.
I DO understand things take time, Backbone code must be re-written etc....But to just time after time just shove things down our throats is irritating to say the least. personally the NEX is fine....cuz you would have to be a GD MORON to spend 1.5 BILLION isk for a monocle. But if...EVER....I have to pay for items through that store, so I can play against any other player....and there is not a way for me to get it myself from EVE (and I don't mean because someone else is selling it on market after they bought it, you get me here)I will NEVER face wife/family aggro again. I will walk away instantly. Do I make myself clear? There will be ZERO hesitation.
What else? We get Incarna and CQ Heat fest with mandated Vid cards and the move towards computer obsoletion (overnite) yet we wanted PI products ratios looked at. We wanted a real discussion about the Anomalie nerf in null sec. There was a real smart one. "To create more conflict" if I remember right. Really? You do have a whole lot of cannon fodder combatants through that have to jump to empire and mission to make isk now.....that worked. We wanted a review of T2 invention %'s, we wanted a new corporation user interface that was useful and concise, we wanted issues of lag helped.....(LOLS to that one, wonder how 'turret effects' helps that?)We wanted a rebalancing of ships that made sense, We desperatly need some type of fix for Tech moons....or are we just going to move to some other moon name as THE isk source for eve?
So, someone needs to get the "Big Guy" on the horn.....get him on a website ...with the CSM round table.....and field internet given questions from the EVE community. No Bull****, no doctoring, LIVE and in person. Tell us what's going, what the rational was/is and where it's going from here. EVE was supposed to be 'Emergent game play' remember all that you spouted CCP? Where is Incarna Emergent? How does it alter and add to player choices?
Emergent game play is payer driven. Why don't you get on a live webcast and let the PLAYERS tell you where we should go.(with the game....lols)Hell...when talking about money. If the bottom line is so bad CCP that you need this twink store for idiots.....if you allowed the PLAYERS to decide where we want stuff added and fixed and the soul put back into the game, we all might even consider paying a $1 or 2 more for our subs. THATS a novel thought, Right?
As it stands now....EVE is going backwards.....and we can look at the forums posts for all the last expansions.....with Incarna galvanizing the biggest negative response thus far......but it HAS been growing. Fix it CCP or have the best damn game no one plays this side of Iceland. Please see forum threads abounding about EVE alternative games. lols

Edited by: Gypsy RoseLee on 24/06/2011 02:21:24 Way too little, way too late. And you are right CCP Pann, you along with the rest of CCP have NOT earned my trust and in fact have ruined my respect. All three of my accounts are canceled, paid accounts for over the last 4 years. Everyone should vote your confidence for CCP with their wallets.
If you like the direction CCP is taking Eve Online, as shown with this last expansion, keep on giving them your hard earned cash. But if you feel like me, that this last expansion was a slap in the face and they no longer deserve your trust, your respect, and most importantly your support via paid subscriptions, then you should go to your account settings page without hesitation and cancel your subscription(s).
If you let CCP Pann and company blow smoke up your backside then you can only hold yourself responsible for what you will most undoubtedly receive from them in the future due to your continued support.
