Exactly.
Remember how CCP foundout their retention was 7 months and they weren't sure what to do about it? Then they spent a lot of time on NPE?
They only want 7-9 months. They know the game is **** after that. Also as others have explained you can't compete with CCP so eventually you hit a brick wall and realise the game is a deadend.
They don't want old burdonsome players who demand stuff.

To be fair there is a section about why MT for non-vanity items are bad. people need to put up both sides.
Only issue is the person saying yes in charge, the person saying no has barley any power or say on anything.

Well from what we can tell CCP is having money problems developing three games and in 40 hours it looks like about 1% of the player base is leaving so we will see how that turns out.

I think much of the uproar is not completely about MT right now, although that is what is behind it. For me, it boils down to this:
1. I think that CCP Zulu really made a terrible choice when it came to his post. It was unprofessional, nonchalant, and really told the Eve customer base that he did not care about anything. That is at least the impression I got and looks like so many did as well. If he would have just made the statement about MT versus in-game advantages, either direction he said would have at least shown that he cares about the players concerns and have driven the stake in the ground now. People could choose what they want to do next. But, obviously ignored what has been on the boards.
2. No response from CCP other than Zulu's blog and Zulu never even came back to the blog. It gives the impression they dont care and are just ignoring everything and they are just hoping it all goes away. Probably not hoping, but probably confident that people will whine themselves out and it will all disappear after a few weeks and CCP would have gotten some great publicity.
I think that the major uproar is really that communication from CCP has been shiat (incompetently) at the very best with communication and their lack of concern, caring and non-chalance when it comes to caring about the community.
Players are throwing them bones all over the place, but obviously not one person, except maybe CCP Pann could/can see where things will go. CCP Pann gave an apology and I say it was perfect and ccp had the chance the drive a stake in the ground (either direction) on their follow up. CCP Zulu screwed up anything that CCP Panns post bought them.

Thursdays are pension days in my part of the world. You gunna have to keep an eye on your timezones to know where to fly.
Fridays EU/US - fly at night only Thursdays Asia Pacific - daylight only (they only come out at night)
If you thought POS timers were bad you try to organise an op around this (I won't as unsub happens the monent pay for win commences or is announced, whichever is first)

If the numbers are true and 2000 accounts already got unsubbed that's 30.000 ish dollars right there (some pay in euros, some in dollars, likelihood is the sum is greater than 30k), 30.000 * 12= 360.000 $ in profit down the tube this year if they do not listen, that's quite a chunk of change.

I really wanted to like Incarna. Anticipation of it was the main thing that brought me back to Eve. Now it's here, and it sucks. I can't believe anyone would think the prospect of pay-to-win would go over well with the membership, either existing or the hordes you imagined would flock to Eve to buy $60 monocles. Nor is it particularly clever business to basically call your subscribers a bunch of suckers.
I have to ask, who the hell coded CQ? It seriously took 70 devs years to write the code for my toon to sit on a couch and watch Eve's terrible cable access channel? Was it 70 monkeys banging on keyboards? Sitting on this couch consumes 86% of the resources on my year-old GTX 470. At least it did until I turned CQ off. Are you insane? I can't think of a single game I've played that comes close to eating that much GPU, even when a huge amount of action (you've heard of action, right?) is happening on screen. Oh, and why does the lighting in Captain's Hostel make my toon look like a crack***** who took a bad beating from her pimp? I seem to recall a video from years ago about the fabulous new lighting technology for WiS. I guess that got left on the floor along with all the other promises. What the hell is up with this tiny hostel room, anyway? I'm the immortal captain of a starship and my station quarters are smaller and uglier than any motel room. Why can't I stay in my freaking pod? I'm sure it's at least cleaner than this dump.
With monocles at over $60, what will CCP want when they do start selling Noble spaceships? "Sorry, honey, I know we needed the $20k in savings for a new car, but my Eve alliance really needed a new titan." "So log in and show me this spaceship I'm supposed to use to drive to work." "Welllll, I would, but see...the guy from the other alliance who bought a titan mashed his Noble Win Button faster than I could, so the titan is gone." "You mean your ship got blown up?" "Yes, but he did loot my win button from the wreck and send me a nice screenshot of it sitting on his CQ coffee table!" "You'd better call CONCORD now." Reaches for a meat cleaver. "Because you're about to get ganked."
CCP management need to climb in a Viking longship and row yourselves to Greenland and back while you have a good long think about the bad choices you've made. Leave your pants ashore. Someone will be along in another vessel to sell you those $1000 pants you adore so much.

...ItÆs clear that many of you are <understatement alert> angry </alert>.
No kidding? CCP Pann, you have no idea why we're really angry, do you? At the very least, I see fit to share some of my rage at this change with you. Its really very, very simple.
I'm a paying ****ing customer and I deserve to know what my money is being used for.
I'm not paying for a 70 USD Monacle, nor to play space sims, nor to do anything else so preposterous.
I am not stock that you can treat like a market index and completely ignore if you feel it so suits you.
I was a loyal ****ing customer for your 'employers' for years, but now that I've seen that CCP doesn't even have customer support that gives a **** about the customers, I'm querying the wisdom I had in making that judgement in the first place.
You completely ignored the customers that said 'FIX THE ISSUES WITH FLYING IN SPACE' because you wanted to introduce market transactions that would force us to pay you more money (since I'm guessing this is the actual reason behind Incarna,) and you thought we would just accept that?! Do you have any idea how asinine that is?
Well, I do.
I've been screaming bloody murder to whatever customer rep would hear, but no one did. No one stopped to listen to hear what I, your formerly loyal paying customer had to say, so you can take Incarna and shove it up whatever hole you want.
I don't care if you feel that I've been rude with this post.
You tried to treat me like stock and ignored what I had to say.
Sincerely enraged--

CCP also deserves a bit of punishment for taking upto 8 years of our subscriptions into the "future" and using them to line their own pockets at the expense of the service we paid them to maintain.

I hope they do add SP, faction standings, etc for real money. That would be great if they would eliminate the need for EVE's sloppy character selling program. I just hope CCP doesn't cut in to the player economy like ships and ammo. I think they won't because breaking EVE's economy would really break the game. But adding things to it (like +10 implants) will dillute the ISK and hopefully slow inflation slightly.

This. If EVE is to be ruined, the players are more than capable of doing it themselves and in a much more spectacular way than CCP ever could. ________________

I just wanted to say, the last MMO i played started up 6 years ago, they introduced the same type store 2 years ago, they are shutting down the game this winter. Is it just the players or does CCP not read any of the PC Gaming mags out there. And to tell the truth the damage control on this one has been absolutely horrid. You'd think with the responses given to date, the average age of the devs and management must be somewhere between spoiled brat and where's my pampers pull ups. OOO thank god, i found my hip boots before ccp throws more Bulls#!t at me I doubt i'll be continueing my subscription much longer, if something doesn't change in the next couple days. thanks ccp for ruining the best game i've found to date over a few extra dollars

edit: if we didn't findout soon enough to prevent CCP from gettin there. i.e. The go bust in a few months time or Eve comes out F2P P2W no indy.
