Bounties. We all want to know more about how the upcoming iterations on them and how it will all work. CCP SoniClover from Team Super Friends explains the fundamental mechanics behind this upcoming (non-chocolate) bounty hunting system in this devblog.

OOO nice.
I like how the sellable kill rights look like they'll work.
Integrates nicely with the bounty hunting. Though I'm not sure about the 'makes them a suspect'. Would be better if it stuck you in a limited engagement with them (along with the rest of your fleet)
So you're not buying the kill right for everyone in the world

While part of me was hoping for a system in which bounties meant that someone could be shot anywhere I suppose this is a good way to protect the "pure" carebears while at the same time the "buyable" kill rights mean that even if they are just a weekend warrior in terms of pvp they can still be attacked in high sec. |

Excellent implementation of the bounty system (and matcing 100% with ideas I've had for several years), but I have one question:
About 5 years ago, when I was a tiny noob only a couple of months old, I flew into low-sec to sell some stuff and got ganked. Now, I have nothing against the player who ganked me and my industrial (with expensive T2 fittings in LOW slots!), but ever since then, I've held a grudge against the player's character.
The problem is, this was about 5 years ago. I still remember the name of the character, and I have him on my Watch List. He's been there all the time, because I figured some day I'd become a wealthy merchant prince and be able to pay some mercs to make his (character's - not player's!) life miserable for few days or weeks.
But I don't think I've noticed his icon coming online or going offline, at all, in the last couple of years.
Do I just have to place a bounty on him (e.g. a couple of billion) and then trust that if he truly has stopped playing, I'll get the bounty back in 6-9 months? Or is there some way for me to find out this before I decide to place the bounty?
I'll happily throw a large amount after his bounty, if I know it'll do some hurt, but it feels like I'm dumping the ISK into a half-year void at 0% interest.
Oh, and a second question: Will he be able to know who put the bounty on him? I very much doubt he remembers me. For him, it was just another Tuesday in low-sec.
Wait, third question: I lent a small amount of ISK to a player about 3 years ago. He never paid back; I think he stopped playing. If I dump a bounty on him of, say, 10 times the amont I lent him, and he resumes playing again, and he contacts me and begs for mercy, is there any way I can retract my bounty on him? Like if he agrees to pay the ISK back to me?

Quote:More selective kill right selling GÇô this is similar to the one above, only for kill rights instead of bounties. This basically allows the owner of the kill right to select more carefully who can purchase the kill right.
That's going to be important. Otherwise a person that has purchasable kill rights on them will just hop in a noob ship and have an alt kill them to get rid of the kill rights. (Of course, the person that sets the kill rights price can set it high, but if it's too high then why would other people buy the kill right either? So either they pay a small amount to get rid of their own kill rights, or the sellable kill right isn't an issue for them because nobody will want to pay the high amount.) |

Keep in mind, if somebody puts a bounty on old Salpad the Carebear (with no good cause for doing so), and it meant I'm killable in high-esc, then I flat out wouldn't be able to undock in anything except shuttles (and with a jump clone with no implants). It would severely cramp my style, and I'd strongly be tempted to quit playing forever, not because it's unfair, but because a kill-rights-in-high-sec on me bounty would make the game completely unplayable for me.
And I'm not some immature rage-quitter. I'm simply saying, if I become unable to undock, then I will unsubscribe and never come back.

crosspost from GC thread
If you want to remove your killright, you buy it with your alt and then shoot your main while it's in a shuttle (or an unfit frig for a 'real kill') to avoid any great loss. Is this right? Is it a problem?
There was talk of buying your own killright with the character the killright is against in order to lose it. Is this still possible? |

Do you think this can be abused to "Test" who is actually currently activated? THere is a degree of anonymity when it comes to those things, combined with other tools, a corp could easily suss out how many players in a corporation are actually "active" players?
I believe that when the new War Dec system was being initiated, this was one of the things they wanted to avoid, was the ability for a war deccing corp to figure out how many characters on an alliance were actually "not playing" when calculating dec costs (but trials didn't count). Where I am. |

Also interested to find out useful information on how the CSM stakeholder experiment is working - input levels, feedback, disagreements etc.. will CCP be giving a view/blog on this? I'm sure the CSM will, in their own way :p Don't worry, I have a cunning plan. |
