CCP, would it be possible to put the deadspace/mission tracks on soundcloud?
For example
Eve Rock 1, Eve Rock 2, Eve Rock 3
Caldari 1, Caldari 2, Caldari 3
Gallente 1, Gallente 2, Gallente 3
etc....
I have them ripped from the game but it would be nice to have them on soundcloud aswell. Set Lasers for Fun!!! |

Is it my understanding, that in EVE you are a pilot of spaceship, which fly into space. And since there are no sounds in space - how can I hear a sound that is not from my ship, but from explosions outside, turents and stuff like that? Isn't it required for the sound to travel in some kind of mediun (hence media), beside the vacum of space?
I'd really love to be able to hear the sounds of my own ships' turrets, launchers, other types of devices, engines, but I'd really love to not hear any sound that do not have a direct connection to my ship (if I'm useing the ingame voice service with other pilots it will be ok to hear some of the sounds they hear, but not the engines of a nearby spaceship or rocket, or fireing turret on another ship. And is'n the music supposed o be played from the computer, and not the place I'm near?
What is the sound of a planet heared from low orbit - I have no clue, but I'll bet it's a really quiet one.

The lore explanation is that the onboard computer synthesizes the sounds for you, as an additional way to relay information. |

I know that the jukebox has gone away.
Having the ability to turn in-station music on or off or to adjust the volume of it would be appreciated. This is especially true when running more than one client.

Hey guys,
Just logged into the new expansion and a lot of the new features are great. I thought I had been pretty up on the new content but had been unaware of the removal of the Jukebox and new ambient music.
I think this is a big mistake. Don't get me wrong the people producing the music are talented but it is not my thing at all. I've been playing for almost three years now and I've had my own playlists going the entire time since the in-game music drives me.
Why on earth would you remove a feature like the Jukebox? It was not hurting the games overall cohesion. If anything for some of us it was increasing graphic/audio cohesion. Nothing like listening to some Led Zepplin or Explosions in the Sky while out ratting/pvping/mining.
It should definitely be brought back with the option to use either or. Anyway that's my opinion.

Now that you have removed the jukebox button from the game i have no reason to have sound on. Seriously if you can "waste code" bringing back both inventory systems they why the heck did you not bother keeping the stupid jukebox button? |

First time I'm actually posting on the forums just to voice my dislike of the removal of the jukebox. It was a handy way to have all my music available while I played that didn't force me to use another program, or to minimize Eve or run it in a window, just so I can have music. I liked when I was listening to custom music and it would change when I went through a mission gate.
Summary: Bring back the jukebox!

The new sound direction has some heavy issues for all those (basically most players) who have got more than one account:
1) The sounds play in every client and this creates an unbearable cacophony.
2) If I turn music volume to zero:
- The volume is a global setting, all the clients get the volume to zero so I hear no music at all.
- If I set the volume to zero, I won't hear the new and beautiful log in screen music as well, which for me is a really NOT wanted consequence. For me hearing and seeing the log in screen stuff is a big part of the EvE experience, I am greatly distasted at losing it. Yet, if I restore the volume up, all the clients will sound different tunes at the same time and cause the cacophony again.
With the old jukebox I had NO problem, now I lost the jukebox and I have all these problems.

Fix the sound effects and music so, that only important stuff like auto pilot notifications, warp/jump sounds, guns and warnings come from 2nd client when it is minimized. Ambient stuff and music has to be muted!

Hey just wanted to congratulate you guys on some nice work on the audio chnages... everything from the soundscapes, to warping and awesome new laser noises, it's a huge improvement!
I'm sure there's some things to iron out but overall well done, I might have to start playing with the music on again... :) |

When I kill a rat - I get a "door clanking sound" - its incredibly annoying to have that sound play - how do I turn it off?
Its a sound that is only effected by the world level setting - and seems that regardless of how far out I zoom - it still plays at the same level. Everything else is great - awesome in fact - but this one sound that plays after I kill a rat - making me not want to turn the world level volume up just so I can avoid it. Can we please - please - get an option to turn this off? I beg you. |

Tagging in to thank you for the new sounds. The warp/jump sounds need a bit work but in general the direction is right. Now I actually feel like I'm shooting at the enemy instead of just drawing colourful lines to them.

Quote:Dev Blog: Introducing team Klang!
Despite the team name, I would really appreciate if you completely removed the KLANG sound related to losing locked targets.. It is loud, annoying and completely superfluous. Also why is it louder than a destruction of a ship?
For the most part I dont like the new sound effects, particularly that KLANG, stargate airplane toilet sound, skill finishing tuba sound, and anything related to the UI in space. KLANG
And I have to say I silenced the music minutes into the game. Not only KLANG is the music same as before, now I cant choose which tunes will play, so it is technically KLANG worse in every respect. I listened to a 'combat soundtrack' in a KLANG FW site a bit, and while it was somewhat ok, its not good enough for me to KLANG care about the changes.
Removal of jukebox and forcing me to use external software for musicplaying showed its bad points with the glitch that KLANG turns my ship invisible if I alt+tab out of the game.

I want the Jukebox back. I read your reasoning about removing it, and frankly disagree with everything you cited as a reason.
Also, I know you (team KLANG) are proud of the music you put in, but it's a taste issue I think. You have a worldwide audience, and I personally dislike the music. One song in particular that played in one of the stations has this high-pitched jarring metronome like thing going on the entire time. Endless headache causing thing with a repetive loud TRILL. It was loud, annoying, and so I ended up turning the music completely off - permanently.
With the old Jukebox, I would switch between the Eve music and my own music as the mood struck me. I no longer have that option. It's rediculous.
ALSO, I think your time would be and would have been MUCH BETTER SPENT on not messing with the environmental and weapon sounds, but instead really digging in and fixing and enhancing the UI Feedback (as seen from the actual GAME PLAYER's perspective, not the cool sound guru guy's perspective). This is a game with a lot of information thrown at you, and appropriate sound feedback would be welcome. Appropriate, not 'cool'.
I know you put a lot of hard work into the sound, and it's too bad it's such a disappointment.
So, in summary: 1) I want the Juke box back ASAP 2) Until then, my client's music is turned OFF 3) The UI feedback sounds need work 4) I know you put a lot of work into this patch -- too bad so much of your work irritates us 5) I want the Jukebox back ASAP (can't stress this enough)

While I really enjoy mostly everything with the new sounds - I am going to go with Nyla Skin on this one.
Be it a "clang", "hatch door closing", or a "Team KLANG" side joke - or whatever you want to call it - it completely distracts me from the game. Regardless of where this sound comes from, or whatever triggers this sound - for the love of everything holy in the empire - PLEASE - add a simple button to remove this sound.
I have even petitioned customer support on this - receiveing no reply as of writing this post - even a simple acknowledgement that your working on resolving this would sate my lust and rage in getting this "feature" removed and/or available to be adjusted.
Thank you |

The entire sound update that came with Retribution is absolutely horrible. I've been playing since RMR, and this is the first time I've had to turn down the master volume to 0.
The alarms, the "whoosh" warp, the steel door sound when you blow up a ship... not to mention the very underwhelming explosions...
And don't get me started on the jumpgate sound. Sounds like a wizard casting a spell at every other gate.

CCP t0rfifrans you sir, are a liar. Yes, there was a mp3 player built in, and you had it locked tight. When players figured out how to mod it, CCP made it a bannable offense to alter it, leading to a massive forum shitstorm that ended in CCP giving us jukebox.
I don't know if we'll get it back before this game finally collapses from all the bad ideas CCP has spewed lately, but I for one intend to fight you over this.

I think I found the cause of the loud and annoying sound, its capsule entering space. I dont like that sound, I cant believe how loud it is even if I have camera zoomed out max.
ps I agree with the others, the retribution sound update is definitely the weakest link of the patch. |

Have you thought about asking players to contribute music? I'm sure you'd be surprised and happy with the quality that some of your fan base could come up with, especially if there was some sort of competition, and it would be very much in keeping with the community spirit of EVE. |

"Team KLANG"s sick joke is the worst sound addition of EVE - the damm KLANG sound - and not even a whisper of acknowledgement that it will be removed and or able to be adjusted. Even a "where working on it" - would elevate my new disgust for the new sounds in general. |

I like some of the new sounds, like for skill training completed or the timers.
Some others are rather annoying and disruptive, like that loud sound when some rat is killed. At least that should be adjusted with zoom level so we only hear it if we were zoomed in on the ship/rat that exploded.
Unfortunately I also had to disable music again. I really love the new login music which is why I keep turning on music from time to time. But once in game, the ominous music playing all the time quickly gets on my nerves.
I get the reasoning for playing threatening music in nullsec and w-space. But w-space is my home, I live there, I don't feel threatened, and most of the time nothing dangerous is happening, so the music doesn't fit what's actually going on. It's like in a movie where the music suggests that something horrible will happen any moment but nothing bad actually happens.
Imho it would be better if the ominous music only plays when you are shooting something or being shot at. . |

This +1, nicely put.
The whole sound 'update', with the exception of some turret sounds that could pass as ok, seems like a bad joke. For the first time, having sounds turned off.
