went downhill quite fast 
the mails were sent to the email when u registerd as those were the only adresses wich couldn`t be changed by anyone (that some moved on i won`t go into as it`s not my place) or else any hacked account could be enterd without any problem to those accounts again (as far is i got from all posts)
that they took down the cluster and reset alot of accounts must say something of the predicted extent this would have gone to if this wasn`t done
got back ingame after 5 hours(+dt) but can imagine how some must feel like after twice that time 
also posting here with requests, i doubt they`d be taken care off 
and if this is a warmup for next week (like posted, friday 13th) then god can`t help us...

Ah yes its bad when you can't easly change your details and i bet if it was too easy and you were nailed by someone exploting easy detail change procedure you would be even more annoyed...

yea same here posting with alt cause I changed E-mail...and no access to old one..so I truely hope I might get a response this weekened..HIGHLY doubt it..and no skill training...nooooooo........

I'm sorry, the "committe on behavior unbecoming of an Eve citizen" has spoken and this operation on the part of CCP spares no victims for any reason: All users without current email addys on file will be kicked in the balls and then shot. So it is written by Dr. Phil, and then other "tough guys" on this thread, so it shall be!
This committee is composed of individuals so pathetic in their own little miserable lives that the only thing they can do to sustain their feeling of having a right to take another breath of air is to seek out the weak on teh intraweb and lambast them for making a human mistake!

Yea I totally understand it is my fault. Just sucks to not be able to play eve for days possibly.and not be able to set a new skill. I know they are over burdened just wish i could get a response other than a automated one...and btw GM's do not have the tools to reset a pw or anything ...:( I think i have tried everything...waiting..waiting ..waiting.........

Ive noticed that every time one of these styles of virus attacks occur the amount of folks that ***** about a breach of security and/or get their accounts, be it a game or otherwise goes WAAAAAAAAAAAY up.
but being that noone wants to lose face and just admit that they "pulled a munson" lots o folks just sit there and watch the tempers fly.

OMG..... I¦ve been filing petitions on a ingame bug for the last 2 days.... now this just added ontop of it.
I¦m so unlucky to have not updated my email info on one char. So the passw. was sent to the wrong address.
I did what Oveur said " If you haven't recieved an email or account management say that either your email or username was incorrect, you are requesting the password to be sent to an account which does not match the email registered!"
And now the replys have been going back for hours.
My point is : CCP frakked it up so CCP should fix it asap.
not letting theyr PAYING customers having to go through endless hoops.
Oveur: you need to keep these cust support d00d¦s inline, making them help us rather than making us go through hoops with endless crap.
BTW. i¦ve asket for a senior GM now, hoping he aint one of thouse 15 years who play CS all day.

BTW. BTW. why didnt CCP think of changing the passwords to the last digits of the CD-KEY ???

you do realize that there is a nasty virus floating around the net, and some hacker took advantage that the fix wasnt released fast enough and threw something on these boards that compromised peoples accounts eh?
CCP did nothing wrong, in fact CCP did exactly the right thing.
lots of people have been whining lol, but its their own stupidity, not ccp's .
if you are not that intellegant to realize all of this, then god have pity on you, you gonna have a rough life.

When I returned to Eve, after a four month hiatus, I not only updated my billing details but I ensured that all details were current and accurate on both of my accounts.
I am fortunate that I still had access to my main account's e-mail of long ago. However I do not have access to the e-mail of registration for my second account. I have sent a petition in but no answer... and I don't cast blame.
Maybe I'll gain access to my 2nd character of over two and a half years training... maybe I won't. The point of the matter is that the fault does not lie with CCP for the heinious behaviors prevalent on the internet.
Will I be ticked off?
Heck yeah, I'm not an idiot nor a fanboi. The loss of about half a billion or so of isk on the character, in cash or items, is nowhere near as painful as the loss of all the training... of all the friends and connections I built upon that character. (Mind you the friend thing is not a problem as I've never gone in for "alt games" and deception.)
But as anxious as I am to log into that account to find out the status of it (I'd hate to find out that he's been deleted!!!) I'm going to take some deep breaths and think back on just how critical the situation was for CCP to act so drastically.
CCP has never dealt with us, the community, in any manner that was dismissive of our concerns... ever. Shame on many of you veterans for forgetting that. They ain't saints but yall need to stop demonizing them.
In a few days, maybe a week, I'll start getting annoyed if my petition has gone nowhere. CCP, the devs and gms, eventually get things squared away every time. We don't like the fact that crap happens, we don't like what happened, but every time they come through for us like the professionals that they are... they come through for us like people with a passion for what they have built.
So... Get your heads out of your 4th point of contact and calm down!
PS: Good luck to those of you without any access.

This appears to be genuine mail that gets send to you when you request a 'normal' password reset for EVE.
The reason you got that warning is, html version of this mail seems to have odd way to reference attached .jpg image that's supposed to serve as banner/background... and it possibly confuses your email reader ^^;
also, i believe in order to succesfully reset your password you need to copy the url provided in email, and paste it as address in your web browser to open, instead of just clicking on it in the email ... otherwise you get the timeout error or something to that effect ^^;;

Heres a hint you provide contact details for CCP, If eve is that imporant for your lifeand lesure you would think that actually updating contact details would be a priority for people that are whinning about it...
There seems to be 2 things going on here from the posts accounts being lost and which is down to CCP and people not updating their contact details which down to them not CCP.
Its kinda like the morons that say move address and have the effrontry to blame their ISP for their ADSL not working at their new address when they did not tell the ISP they had moved, which is something I have to deal at work I laugh at them the same I am laughing at the I never updated my contact details whinners in this thread...

Hmm sorry but no idea :< it did work for me, but then i did that copy/paste thing immediately after receiving the email... perhaps you could try to request another password reset, and copy/paste the link you receive then, in the new mail? Am guessing there's a chance you get it faster now, with most active users sorted out and the mail queue hopefully shorter ^^;;
