Maybe you clicked the password reset option twice? In that case, wait for the second e-mail. The link provided there should work.

Well, I have to wonder, if only 57 accounts were hacked, what did they have in common?
I would really like to know if these accounts happen to have the most ISK in them at the time? Could this be a scam to steal the ISK for resale and then bollux up the database so that the thefts cannot be tracked?
Since there were so many accounts hacked, it points to the server being hacked rather than the PCs.

Can you clear this up please , 57 people hacked? but much more have had passwords reset? What is the critiria you have used..
Why do you feel my password needs changing, if you have reset everyones thats fair enough, but if not why me... Should i take this as a sign your Database has been compromised and the passwords of some accounts stolen? Ie if i use my password anywhere else i should change it there as well...
If my account was bring attacked using a directory, my question is how did someone know my login username? cause its not starfly..
If your servers ip address was hi-jacked, website, dns proxy cluster, then clearly tons of passwords and logins could be stolen, but i dont see how you would know which ones in that case..
Be nice to have a bit more detail here..

quite simplier, if CCP knows about accounts hacked before the users do, it means this must have happened on their side. Which brings me to smile at all those knowledgeable guys who come teach you about keylogger programs or passwords saved by IE without the slighest idea of how the Internet works in the first place.

Good luck getting any account information if you don't have access to the original email address you registered with. I spent 2 weeks in an email loop with their billing peoople, and gave them more information then the FBI knows about me, all at their request ... but they still refused to release the PW to an account that was clearly registered to me, because I could not access a 2 year old PW. Eventually I just gave up and counted the account as "lost."

Try requesting a reset of your password vie the link below the "my account" login page.
It will ask for your email, if your email you currently use does not work and you have changed your email adress since registering with Eve for the first time with that account, try the old email adress you used to register at that time. _______________________________________________

I will rephrase what happened here...
Because 57 idiots somehow gave out their password, 10 000 and more players were locked for 4 hours (and still going) instead of the usual one...
What makes it more frustrating is that more idiots are spamming the frickin forum with questions which are ALREADY ANSWERED IN THE STICKIES...

Important Announcement This morning we have been investigating a number of account hack attempts. 57 accounts were compromised and as a result, we started full investigation and lockdown procedures. This culminated in the lockdown of Tranquility during downtime until we had finished our investigation.
can we pls get some more details so we are aware of what happened and can take measures to prevent similar happening again?
first my educated guess is this isn't related to a general security flaw allowing to login WITHOUT knowledge of login credentials as only a few "selected" accounts are affected.
so where have login credentials been retrieved by the *****er? compromised client pcs(keylogger....)? snooped on the network? or saved somewhere "at ccp"?
Originally by: Oveur
As a preventive measure, to ensure account security, we have reset passwords and will send out an email to selected accounts and ask them to change their passwords. At the same time, we would like to remind all our customers to never give out their passwords and regularly change them in account management. Remember, we will never ask you for your password.
i really don't fancy changing my passwords once in a blue moon as i own more then one account and my passwords are complex so hard to remember
so how were those "selected" accounts determined? other accounts logged in from same ip as the "hacked" ones? all accounts with login credentials stored in the same location in ccp's area of responsibility that got "hacked"? all accounts with weak passwords that were stored hashed and retrieved in this form by the *****er?
Originally by: Oveur
We want to emphasize that we do not store billing information, the only risk was concerning password usage and subsequent abuse of the accounts in question.
does this mean that login credentials are stored somewhere at ccp besides on the cluster? or was part of the cluster "hacked"? are those store in plain txt? or hashed?
sorry for wild guess but we need more information!
situation as it is, is not acceptable, i can't decide what to do to prevent something like this happening to me or my corporation at all.
for example even if i consider my password beeing strong i'd like to change it in case it was compromised in hashed form.
thx, end |

He's probably running for the medal of the spamming idiot of the month to be honest. Seeing from most of his post in Out of pod experience and other sections.

The server is down because CCP put it down as soon as they caught on to there being some retard hacking stuff.
It will be up once CCP are sure theyre's no mroe risk, and not before that..rather obvious isnt it ?
Or would you prefer if it came up right now and people get their accounts cleaned out and ****, leading to a petition queue 20 weeks long with you at the wrong end of it ? _______________________________________________

The password reset doesn't work for me
My current password doesn't work so I'm assuming its been reset, I am using the only few email address's I know I've used in the last few years, what do I do now.
Indicently if it has been hacked by brute force then I'm guessing they must have used a massive amount of rotating annonymous proxies because any decent server or web page that see's say 20 wrong passwords in quick succession blocks the IP as it knows it a brute force attack.
You do have this don't you?

NO they are called HACKERS ... they changed something or have stolen something ... C.R.A.C.K.E.R.S. only get in a system and leve a sign that they were there ... but in this case the have stolen accounts or changed the password

57 accounts hacked doesn't mean that the DB was attacked. Something similar happened in WoW, where a banner ad on allakhazam's site was infected, causing visitors to get a password grabber installed that then resulted in a wave of accounts getting hijacked all at once.
Point is, if it was the DB that was hacked, then everybody's account could have been compromised, not just 57.
I will, however, state that this is the best reason to have at least a 1 level skill queue. Last time I saw a popup stating "In 20 minutes, will start a quick reboot to hotfix a problem", I switched from the 2-hours-to-go skill, to a 2 day skill. Couldn't log in for over 24 hours. Didn't have the option this time. |

Reset password
Your password could not be reset. The url you followed is either incorrect, has been used or has expired.
This is the answer I get when trying to reset my pw.
I can't log in to change password, and I wonder if I'm still rich or very, very poor |
