If you're having any problems with the uploader not uploading files, make sure your EVE folder does not have any other files ending in .txt. Apparently my nonexistant "other file" detector is broken, so this can easily break the uploader. I'll release a new version sometime soon which allows upload by user statistics.

Edited by: Kaladr on 01/03/2006 11:14:18 I've released version 1.1.1 of the uploader which actually puts in a semi-intelligent check for the "random .txt file laying around" problem.
I'll be adding the source code shortly.
Remember: The uploader engine is open source, and you are free to modify, bugfix, and otherwise improve upon it. I welcome all bug reports and will try to solve them to the best of my ability. If you application has generated an error ".log" file, please e-mail it to me. ---- EVE-Central.com | Obsidian Technologies - Manufacturing, Defense and Logistics. We're hiring! Mail me |

This is a fantastic utility. If I may make a suggestion. Is tehre any way you can limit the information someone could get until they had uploaded a certain number of files recently. That would prevent people from leeching the system.

I don't know if this is just me, but isn't it against the forum rules to post a website that has Ads for ISK exchange websites?

I love your site, I used it last night to net myself 3mill ISK, I am new to EVE and this really helped find some great trade routes. If you give me a name I might be persuaded to send some ISK your way.
My only problem is that I am not familiar enough with EVE to be able to know what regions are adjacent to what, I was thinking that maybe a map or a flowchart on your site would be of immeasureable help.
Thanks again

Aren't we a little uppity? This person has offered time, bandwidth, expertise and the sweat of her brow for the general good, and certain lower species deign to look on it and offer snide comments. If you combined this data with some of the route analysis programs at evetrader.net, we'd all be in merchant heaven :)

Since a bunch of people requested this, here we go:
- Leaderboard of most uploads, and an update MarketUploader to correctly submit this data. Old versions of the MarketUploader will of course still work.
You will need to register for an EVE-Central.com account with the In Game Browser. From there, feed that login information into the new Uploader by hitting the options menu.
In case you don't like having your name plastered out there, there is of course a (default) Anonymous option :-)

Dear god, this site (and included utility) is fantastic! Many thanks!
Originally by: Devil Chaser For example, I am in Sarum. I am willing to pick up stuff within 4 jumps from there, and carry it up to 10 jumps away. I should be able to plug those factors and get suggestions from that.
Also, a jump maximum restriction instead of a region restriction would be great. If I am on the edge of a region, I want to consider trips in both regions.
I completely agree with this. This would instantly give me the answer I'm really looking for, instead of doing multiple system to region searches starting at my current location and including some neigboring stars etc. In short, it would cut my search-time to 20% of what it is now :)
Also, someone elses suggestion to give an ISK cap would also be very useful to all starting traders who aren't filthy rich yet (e.g. me).
But in it's current state it's already VERY useable and profitable :)

In the ingame market browser there are 2 buttons at the bottom of the center collum. The lowest one reads 'export to file'. Press this when ever you review the regional prices of a certain item for the first time that day. If you have downloaded the 'MarketUploader' and it is running, the exported files will be uploaded to the 'EVE-Central' server :)

First I wanna say that Im uploading market data. And so should you! And I am for restrictign data only to uploaders, to encourage more accurate data.
My suggestion would be finding some corps that would like to advertise with EVE-Central. So, when somebody wants to buy an item that a said corp is selling, user will see at the top of his search results those prices. Of course corps that want to advertise would have to pay for the privilege
All in all, great idea!

I'm having problems with the uploader software. I try to run it and all I get is "The network appears to be down.... check your firewall settings."
I've turned my firewall off, set it to allow the program, I still can't get past that error message.

When doing that check, the software tries fetching 3 files from EVE-central.com:

Yes, I'm coming from behind a proxy and that may be a problem. I'm using campus internet with a reroutable IP. However, the PCs at the computer lab had no problem with it, so I'm wondering if it's just the security setting on my wireless network at home.
However, I can access all of those *.txt files you listed in my browser, what does that mean?
Thanks in advance for the help

Hello! thank you for this little utility... quick suggestion... could you add some sort of export option for external utilities to link to the data? or perhaps release the code/script for the search itself? What I have in mind is adding many options, basically like combining www.grismar.net navigation tool with the trade data. It would be nice to limit low security space, search all trades X number of jumps from a certain point, not region, so that you could find the shortest destination to make a trade. Also limiting search to the volume of items given or the potential profit would help the utility/user to eliminate market lures/scams when low volume / low security space is involved. If I were to make a version of my own, I might go so far as to make a trip planner, to automatically find the goods to pick up at the drop off location. Once again, thank you very much, and hopefully we can see some of these improvements/collaborations in your work in the time being, or we can contribute/extend to it ourselves with friendly export data. Thank you!

In theory, the Python urllib is transparent fetching the proxy information from your client. Does Internet Explorer work correctly? If so, try setting the environment variable "http_proxy" to your "proxy host:portname" combo (EVE mail or email me if you need info how). Its more of a weird proxy issue it looks like. ---- EVE-Central.com | Obsidian Technologies - Manufacturing, Defense and Logistics. We're hiring! Mail me |

Minor bug in 1.2 which leads to this, but the root of the problem is that your path to your EVE folder is not set correctly as default. Try pointing the client to the correct EVE path. ---- EVE-Central.com | Obsidian Technologies - Manufacturing, Defense and Logistics. We're hiring! Mail me |

That did it, I've never had reason to update my proxy settings for Internet Explorer. Thanks for the help, I plan to upload in abundance .

Is there some way that you could post the regions of space, and how recently they've been updated.
I'm thinking that if it's possible to "rate" each item in a given regions time since it was updated, that we could log on each day, see that ohh.. Quafe in Lonetrek hasn't been updated in 2 days, and update that..
hell, even have an option to put in what region we're in, and have it spit out the top 5 most out of date items, so we can update them?
Dunno if it's even possible ;) - -
