How am I supposed to register?
When I put in a username and password, it says does not match instead of letting me register.
It would help a lot if there were a register button, or at least if putting in a new username and password would then register the new name and password, instead of giving a error message saying it doesn't match the username on file.
I know for a fact that at least some of the usernames I entered did not match another user's.

Edited by: Kaladr on 05/05/2007 02:25:45 Yes, leaderboard went bork a while ago. I'm working on resurrecting it. It really needs a redesign since the old version had super sucky performance.

We've installed a new piece of hardware over at EVE-Central.com in order to handle our growing server load. The trade finder has become markedly faster as a result (in addition to other back-end improvements, such as a new pathfinder engine).

this stuff is a waste of time, if your not gonna put all the profitable trade routes in there then why even have this crap, its no help and it just clutters the forums with waste

I'm confused... or you're confused... The tradefinder will happily find you NPC trade routes (or player ones, though these are arguably rarer to just show up - requires more use of brain :)) with the provided data, which you can augment via the uploader utility. As you probably know, trade routes are hardly static, so I can't just "put all the profitable trade routes in there".
And the cross region market browser is probably the most used feature on the site. ---- EVE-Central.com - Your EVE economic and corporate site, featuring the inter-region market browser |

Just curious how you handle the pathfinder algorithm. I build a very simple Trade Agent as an in-game site for myself that finds lucrative trades ; the route finder algorithm (just a simple shortest route algo) was the most CPU intensive as it could take up to a quarter of a second to calculate a route based on my requirements (in PHP ) -- and it had to do this many times.
I solved this by pre-calculating all in-region routes and storing them in a database. Couple of thousand entries per region (and taking low-sec, high-sec into account), but lookup became lightning fast. I did not venture into inter-region planning (yet).

As I can calculate both low and non-low sec based routes, I'm currently not using a lookup tables of distances (4000*4000*12bytes) is a fair chunk of data in memory (yes, I know since the EVE graph is undirected so I can store less) . Its something I always consider, but haven't done yet.
I'm using a Dijkstra based approach, which finds the shortest path from a node to all other nodes in the graph, which is run on the set of starting systems. Since the EVE map is a sparse graph, adjacency lists and a (in v2.1) radix heap are used (currently using binary heap). The pathfinder can consume up to 4-6 seconds on a 100-200 starting system set (~3000+ actual routes). This version is written in C++ (and wrapped to the python code via SWIG), but previous versions were in Python using psyco as a JIT compiler (which sadly does not run in 64bit mode on AMD64).

Thanks for answering! My own algorithm is a depth-first approach. It backtracks as it finds shorter routes to the destination. Basically I feed it "StartSystem" and "EndSystem" and it plots a route based on requirements (eg. low or high sec). This works as I limited it to a single region ; and I cut the maximum search depth to 25 jumps (which is more than I ever want to travel between A & B)
A single lookup is fairly fast; but as I ask the mini expert system on top of it to clasify the hundreds of possible trade combinations that seem intestering (potential profit > min, freight volume) etc. it started to take quite a long time.
Hence the DB cache of pre-calculated routes ; now I feed it Start & End, and the DB returns both the lenght of the route and systems that are part of the journey.
Thanks for the good work you are doing on eve-central ! Its most usefull

remembering a bit of ideas from the "Best Path Calculator" program from jumpgate (a buddy of mine wrote it). Dijkstra's shortest path method works best.
especially if you start taking skills in account to measure the time you need to get up to speed, get into warp, length of warptime based on the speed of warp on your ship. (To get a profit / sec based calculation ;) )
sometimes profit per jump isn't the same as profit per jump.

Kaladr,
Thanks so much for releasing data dumps! Now that I can use the information from your site more fully, I'm just uploading to your site instead of to my own.
One question that you might be able to help me with: I'm seeing some unusual stationid values on some datadumps. For example, "61000101" - I can't find a matching stationid in the latest databases from CCP or Chuker. There are 10 or 12 other unrecognized stationids?
Do you have more recent maps, or are these simply values that you're getting uploaded to you?
Thanks again! V

I don't have more recent maps, but I do have player owned stations (61xxx) which are added dynamically. I'll make a dump of these available, though many do not have interesting names yet :) ---- EVE-Central.com - Your EVE economic and corporate site, featuring the inter-region market browser |

Ok, I haven't been able to login to the site for a couple of weeks, now. When I use IGB, I get a 500 server error, and when I use an out of game browser like Firefox or IE6, it simply reloads the login screen. Also, the uploader doesn't seem to be uploading data, or it's not updating the number of uploads I've done. It seems stuck at 602.
Anyone else having this problem, or is it just me?

I don't know about your problem with the login screen, but EVE's market dump has been moved to Documents and Settings\[computer name]\My Documents\eve\logs\marketlogs. You'll have to go to "Options" and change it.
This points out another problem. Wallet exports are now dumped in the same directory so the Market Exporter grabs them as well as the market dumps. Could we get an update to Market Exporter so that it doesn't grab them? Also, the ability to tell Market Exporter to not delete the market dumps would be nice too.

A short term workaround would be to move/delete your wallet exports before utilizing Market Exporter. As a suggestion.
The Eve-Online forums may not have invented whining, but they sure have perfected it.

I've pushed out 1.3 of the uploader which should (and I say should) not nuke your wallet export files.
Also has a "-hide" startup flag to go to your systray only by default. ---- EVE-Central.com - Your EVE economic and corporate site, featuring the inter-region market browser |

hi, nice job you did there kaladr, thks a lot. I want an improvement to the trade finder :). I was sitting today in metropolis region, uploaded lots of market info to your site, coz i need to go to kakakela and didn't want to go empty :). When i searched the routes IGB, it showed me all without any problems, the best route was to haul 30k units of zydrine and then i realized that i only have 2mil isk in my wallet :(. You need to make it taking in account the amount of isk some1 wants to use for trading, it would be very usefull for newer players, as me. In my case would've been much more profitable to buy something less valuable (tritanium for example. Sorry for my bad english, i just hope you understood what i mean :). Good luck and thks again for the site+uploader.

The trade route finder is currently not looking at the starting sector's security rating. Sahda keeps popping up it's ugly head as a source of nice trades in Domain. I suppose they might be if Sahda weren't .4 security rating :) |

Hey Kaladr
A noble bit of programming on your behalf and a fantastic tool. \o/ IGB finally has a use for me in the game. Only thing is that I'm having to seek psychological therapy at some bizarre amarrian outpost to relieve me of my guilt of using your trading system but not being able to upload and marketlogs myself!!
Now I've checked where I'm pointing the prog to find the logs, tried pointing it to the same folder using different routes also but no uploads from me. I've checked my firewall and given the prog uber access but still no uploads, of course I have exported data from in game.
Hrm I cannot add to your log lists as a result, and I'm having to drink some ghastly horrible holistic liquor at this outpost to relieve me of the guilt!
Any ideas?
ps. sorry if you've answered Q's like this before, I checked through mails and only found one but the asker never returned :(

Okay it would seem that the amarrian liquor did the job although I begrudingly admit it.
It would seem that I was exporting [my orders] market logs and not logs direct from market browser. On doing this I have officially uploaded a totally random module LOL!!
Great stuff \0/

After doing a quick lookthrough on this thread, I didn't find the answer to my question: I can't register. Yes I used the IGB and yes I trusted the site but the login field and message telling me to use IGB and trust the site are still there. Am I missing something? Perhaps registration closed?
