Originally by: Sysion I was curious how movement was calculated as well... one issued I think there could be is that when an order sells out, how do you know? If someone is selling 1 million units of Tritanium and someone buys the whole order, how is that accounted for in the market logs? Seems like the order would drop off from it, but nothing showing the sale.
At this point, movement will not see whole orders which disappear. I am working on a version which does show visibility into this though. ---- EVE-Central.com - Your EVE economic and corporate site, featuring the inter-region market browser |

Where's the Eve-Central API documentation? Downloading the XML works fine, just don't know how they're constructed. |

Added. Random oversight, which no one really caught.

Documentation on what each field in the XML file pertains to? That doesn't exist, but I hope it is mostly self-documenting. If you have a specific question, feel free to ask. ---- EVE-Central.com - Your EVE economic and corporate site, featuring the inter-region market browser |

This is a wonderful site and service, and it's impact of being down is profound. Personally I've sent Kaladr on a number of occasions isk donations, and when I buy GTC buy through the site.
I hope for it's speedy return. ----

Thanks for the excellent service. Eve-Central is always part of my daily Eve routine!
I recently signed up for the mail-push service that you offered. Just as a test really...I wanted to see if I could use the uploads to fill the gaps in some of the other trading software offered here on the forums.
I've run into a problem though: I'm using Thunderbird to download the mails, and using an addon called 'smartsave' to bulk save the messages into text files. Unfortunately, the addon saves the header information in each mail at the top, and makes the files unusable for programs looking for the standard export format. Also, the mails all have the same subject line...'evec-upload] Upload'...not a problem for the addon I'm using since I can randomly generate a name based on e-mail date, but I'm suspecting many of the market monitoring applications offered here use the export file title as part of it's processing, even though regionID and objectID is part of the export data.
So...long story short...would it be impolite to ask if you could provide some suggestions on how to process the mail-push data? I'm eager to use this wealth of information, but I'm at wits end trying to do it with my meager toolset/abilities.
If you're looking for suggestions or feedback, I suppose my only request would be to have the mail push service use the standard Eve-export format for it's subject line. This would be extremely helpful in being able to sort the mails based on region, etc. using rules/filters to move them into appropriate folders. Of course, given the amount of data you process, this is probably impractical...but I have to ask anyway.
Again, thanks for the excellent tools you provide!

Has anyone else had issues with the latest uploader and Trend Micro? Trend Micro is seeing the evec_upload.exe and evac_setup_1_3_1.exe as containing a trojan virus and quarantines the file.

Ok. This post goes for Kaladr.
First of all congrats for the very nice work you've done and keep doing. I'm a Fighter/Trader in the game and as I was looking for tools to help me with trading, I found EVE-Central.com. Great tool but... the "Trade Finder" results don't take in concern the tax fee of the market transaction so they give the wrong profit amount. Although some results, with high price goods, give the impression of a very nice profit due to the tax fee's they end up not having a profit at all.
Here is the math...
Profit = (quantity*buying price)-(quantity*selling price)-Tax Fee Tax Fee = (quantity*buying price)*Tax rate [Tax rate vary between 1%~0.5% according to your "Accounting" skill level]
*buying price = the price they buy (not you) *selling price = the price they sell (not you)
Is it possible that you enter the Tax fee's in the equation of the results and put a drop down choice for the Tax rate in "Trade Finder"?
Thanks in advance.

Could anyone confirm some of the characteristics of the data returned by the API? This will affect my local caching strategy, which I'm sure will be important if I release my in-development tool to the wild!
Specifically, when using the example http://eve-central.com/api/quicklook?typeid=34, there's an optional sethours parameter, which defaults to 360 hours (15 days). Now of course, I could use 720 hours, which gives me the maximum buy/sell order period. So... the questions:
* The base question: is the data an aggregated, accurate representation of current buy and sell orders (at the time the data was created) for a particular station, without including already closed orders, regardless of the sethours parameter?
* Let's say that for a popular product in a busy system -- trit in Jita -- is there any difference between selecting 720 hours and 1 hour of data? Each data upload to eve-central reports the *current* conditions, right, and so the data show the *current* conditions (as of the time it was generated)?
* That is, an order placed 700 hours ago and fulfilled 600 hours ago... will it show up in the 720 hours data?
* The best use, then, of the longer "settime" parameter may be for sparsely populated systems that may not have had a data contribution in the last "y" hours, and so maybe I'll get lucky and see if there were any orders as of "5*y" hours ago?
* Example: I just did a one-hour query for trit in Jita. It reported NO orders! Is that just because there was no data uploaded in that hour, and so of course the assumption is, there are no longer any orders?
* The difference between, say, 5 hours and 720 hours isn't the bandwidth, but the number crunching your server does before it sends out the data? Or does it not even matter since if the 5 hours data is accurate, I'll get that without bogging down your server? In which case, is there any reason to not just do 720 hour queries 100% of the time, or would it be better just for you not to have the sethours parameter and simply deliver the last known market state?
* Maybe I'm misunderstanding "settime"? It's described as "Get orders which have been posted within the last X hours. Defaults to 360" -- I'm supposing that this means the hours since the data was posted to eve-central. Maybe I'm wrong and it's since the order was created/modified in game?
Finally, a couple of minor API enhancements designed to save your bandwidth. Just a couple of extra parameters maybe:
* ordertype = { buy | sell | both } * top = x, where x would show only up to x buy orders (ranked most expensively) and x sell orders (ranked least expensively).
Sorry for the wall of text. I want to make sure I get this right!

Wonderful resource and I am starting to use it again.
I have a slight problem. When using the uploader, I cant log in as my user. Is this related to the fact I have just made this account and it takes time to filter through, or is something else going on ?
With thank

Very nice site and the exports are really useful to many developed tools!
One question though as I have started playing with an idea for an app as well. Is there a limit at the number of typeids you can have at the url per each request? If not is there a best practice for me to do a request for all the items in your database? I have cleaned the items that are market objects through the database export, but still sending a request with 5000+ items at its url doesn't feel right. Am I missing something here?
Thanks in advance and keep up the good work!

There is no official upper limit, though limiting it to 100 type IDs per request would be reasonable. |

Edited by: Williamat Centaurus on 01/10/2008 00:06:03 Hi there, great program and site. Is there a certain category of items you would like uploaded on a regular (daily or weekly) basis? Maybe the ores for instance? If there is, I would certainly be happy to do so. I will be uploading the entire market once a month in the Everyshore region. A guide on your website about items to upload more frequently or on a schedule would be good for those that are interested in contributing in this way.

Well, without hearing a reply I am going to assume that the items you have in your "Market Baskets" are all items you would like updated daily. I have been and will be uploading the minerals and BSs that you have listed so daily reports will be a little more updated.
Thank you for this absolutely awesome tool as it comes in handy on a daily basis!
