I don't need to try again, because AFTER it hit those 250k subs it fell off the face of the earth (back below 100k subs in 4 years). Thanks for unwittingly proving the point i was trying to make, you're a good wingman.
Which would lead one to believe that the later drop in subs was due to a later expansion, or lack of further content, since the drop happened years later. but you go ahead and read it your way. |

No. Go do your own ******* research and spent some time doing something useful with your time in EVE. Stop being the useless leech.
And I do agree, the majority of the so called "New Player Friendly" corps arent and it would indeed for the better if they didnt recruit as such.
However sometimes it is better to make a mistake and learn from it. It makes you learn stuff but also make you appreciate what you do have (including that corp that is great for you).
Hell a bunch of veterans didnt contribute to a great guide on how to find a good corp and how to weed out the ****** ones.

Form your own corp...get some isk through tax, and then turn the pvp flag on and pew pew them till they leave.
Now you can be one of those useless noob corps that teach new players nothing that you all complain about.
Oh ya, they do learn one thing.
Don't join a player corp unless you want to be abused for being new.

Destiny Corrupted wrote:The lesson to be taken away here is that we should just do away with pvp in high-sec altogether, since that's what the majority wants, and the majority must be catered to. Leave the rest of the mechanics intact, and give the modern gamer what they're asking for.
Whether or not CCP fails or becomes the most profitable company in the world because of this is irrelevant to the discussion. There's obviously no room in the world for the product that EVE has been so far, because its very concept is to not cater to what the majority of its users are asking for, which lies in direct conflict with the socially, economically, and politically accepted argument that the function of a business is to make as much money as possible.
While I realize you are being facetious, I would actually agree. Do away with non-consensual PVP in hi-sec, or create a new set of systems (like the new wormhole area) that don't allow non-consensual PVP. Watch what happens.... I dare you.
My guess? That area would fill up fast, and people who like to fly spaceships and see the amazing backgrounds and textures of this game would spend a year or two playing in that area before they unsubbed or moved to "more dangerous" space. Maybe 10% of them would last, but at WoW subscription rates, that 10% would be more than Eve has ever seen.

It is **** corps that dont. I'm sorry, but you are evidently terrible at EVE, so I'm not going to take your word for it that good corps break the most basic rule of highsec corp recruitment. It does nobody any favours if you recruit brand new newbies because you have absolutely no method of tell who is an awoxer.
J'Poll wrote:You do know the in game corp search ads suck.
But if you did some research you would find over 40 corps (yes, I do have a list and try to keep it up to date) who are good and very new player friendly. 40 corps across the whole game? And that's a list you've made? What was the criteria for being a "good" corp in your eyes? I fully believe that *you* believe these corps are good, but that doesn't make them not terrible.
J'Poll wrote:But apparantly you didnt kbow that cause that would mean learning something new and spent time doing something other then carebearing. Lol, yes, I'm the one that didn't know that you think there are corps that aren't terrible who openly recruit awoxers. And thanks for making the assumption that I'm a carebear, really proves you have no clue what you are talking about.
J'Poll wrote:Too bad not every account is actually asked why they leave. So there is no statistica about that (proof it...) Of course not all are, but they do exit polls. You are correct, I have never played UO. However, I've played Eve for a few years, so I'm good at spreadsheets, reading and numbers. Given the linked article, I see that Trammel came out in 2000 ( Ultima Online: Renaissance (4 May 2000) ), and "Subscriber numbers peaked at around 250,000 in July 2003, and in 2008 sat around 100,000 subscribers". Which clearly shows that the Trammel expansion caused numbers to swell for 3 years. I think your straw man is on fire.... |

"Carebearism" is that insidious. I was surprised to find it in EVE but I shouldn't have been. Basically, wherever there is a game were people can loose stuff (and losing stuff makes people feel "bad") there will be people campaigning for that to be 'controlled' or made to go away even if there are other options.
This is why CCP is making a mistake. Make 'awoxxiong' a switch and the most of the people in npc corps will find other excuses to stay in npc corps (not it will jsut be war decs or suicide ganking, like it already is lol). Meanwhile ESTABLISHED players will be able to invite the few gullible ones into their corps to pay them taxes, enriching themselves even more and widening the wealth gap between new and old.
I like CCP, but you'd think they'd know all this by now.

So, somehow, DESTORYING the idea that is EVE Online to gain subscription money from people too weak minded to play real EVE benefits the EVE community because CCP will have more money to keep EVE (that isn't EVE) any more going.... EVE is one world, indivisible, with space-liberty and and injustice for all.
The "it destroy the idea of EVE" fallacy is just as bad. No matter how you look at it, it's a service/product they sell expecting to make a buck out of it. The end goal for the owner is always $$$. No matter what the devs say and even what they belive, if the owners say they want the game to generate more subs, then generating more subs it will be.
