Edited by: Ila Lien on 26/07/2007 21:18:04 Looks like the problem's back again for me. =/ Multiple lost connections completely at random, only eve, different times for different clients, and happening with only 1 client open agian. So it looks like Tuesday's patch fixed it and Wednesday's broke it again. --

id like to update my crashing issue. I've managed to narrow it down to sound. Turning off sound in eve prevents the crash. The sound card doesn't conflict with anything else in the large number of games i own.
just eve.
I can play without sound so thats my workaround. ill check eves sounds after the next patch. _____________________________________________

I too am experiencing complete reboots for no reason at completely random times. I have been playing of and on for over 3 years and i have never once crashed. After the last patch that upgraded to stackless python i started to reboot for no reason. I saw a bunch of people post on the forums about crash to desktop, and i figured that when CCP fixed taht issue that it would resolve mine. It did not, the reboots continue.
This is obviously happening to less people than the CTD's but its happening none the less, and because of the latest patch. Has CCP acknowledged this issue? I have not found a fix on the boards. If i missed a thread can somebody link me? im running win xp with a ati x1900 graphics card. I have also Un-installed, re-installed and repatched and nothing changed. ----------------------------------------------- Now you see me, Now you dont |

I'm getting the crashing every ten minutes as well since the last patch.. (am only logging in to set skills now)
It seems a real shame has have been playing the game for a few months with no serious issues.. but am now just hoping that i am a bit more optimistic by the time i need to pay again..
ú7 a month (per character) just to set a few skills and get annoyed by it crashing and taking a 5 minutes to load up again.. not good value for money..

I know your feeling, I have been playing for over 3 years, and i cant recall one single crash. I do use realtek and i never crashed. Since the last patch i cant do anything. Ive posted on about 15 different threads concerning this, and not one response or correction or even a workaround. Since the upgrade to stackless python the game is unplayable for me. I have completely re-installed, eve and re-patched, i have disabled realtek, something that has never caused an issue for me in the past. I have tried running with all sound disabled, with all video on min settings, nothing works. ----------------------------------------------- Now you see me, Now you dont |

Have another friend with the same issue as me. He was having problems continuously after the 1st patch after rev2. Was fixed on Tuesday's patch. Have the problems again on Wednesday. My problems are worse than ever now after Wednesday...crashes more while I'm in the middle of interacting with the client and even more frequently. I can't stay logged in and forget opening a 2nd client. --

Hi, i got 2 weeks client crashes with a 0xC0000005 error in the history file. After a lot Bluescreens i got mad. I scanned all my ram with memtest, checked my pc with 24h prime95 and some other stuff. I could play all other 3D monster games, only eve crashed all the the time. Then i found the solution.. not a Windows Reinstall, not a Bad Driver, even not a bad memory module. No, just special RAM Settings in BIOS. I used a Higher "DRAM Data Drive Strengh" and Higher "Preamble Response Times". Worked very very good for me. It seems eve is doing mem access on his own way ;)
My RAM: 4x 512 DDR 600 from OCZ Platinum EE Board: DFI NF4 Ultra -D CPU: Athlon X2 3800+
Btw, to raise the mem Timings like 2-2-2-5 to 3-3-3-8 did not work at all. Only the other special things did their job.
After two weeks without eve I'm back in business.

I was having problems with crashing with no error. It wasn't sound, it was just random crashes. I tried reinstalling numerous times and it didn't work. I then tried reinstalling it to an entire different directory and now it has not crashed once. If you have tried reinstalling I'd recommend trying it.

You are not alone, it's all I have been able to get with the three different computers and two different ISP I have tried over the past 2 days.
They have some issues with desync and the database maintaining connectivity with the clients.

the C:\ thing was where the logs are located. unless you program for Microsoft or CCP it is likely they will mean nothing to you.
as for the crash, you dont appear to be the first person who is having crash/shutdown issues when they are targeted/target someone

Hi everyone,
Whenever I log onto EVE (getting past character select, and the character loading screen), I get a maximum of 5 minutes ingame before the EVE client exits without explanation. I've uninstalled, redownloaded, reinstalled; done everything possible I can think of (drivers etc (obviously there may be some I have overlooked)) to no avail.
I see other people have had similar problems as mine, so if anyone has managed to fix it then it would be greatly appreciated if they could inform me how to solve this baffling problem :) I, of course, will inform the readers of this thread of any breakthroughs I may make... unlikely as that may be :P
Thanks

Hi,
I seem to have persistent crash and freezing each time my ship get killed. I even get pod kill since my client and computer are so freezed up by my initial ship destruction that i have to pull the power plug of my computer. Regardless if there is lots of pilot or not.
EVE is the ONLY program that cause this kind of problem on my computer and i do run very heavy CAD software on this machine without issues that requires lot of graphical and cpu requirement.
Any suggestion ?

C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE\cache
and your screenshots/logs are stored in C:\documents and Settings\username\My Documents\EVE
this is stupid because the cache is stored in a hidden folder that people can't even see with the default winxp settings. if they would just put a shortcut to the folders in the main EVE directory, there wouldn't be any more complaints of "where the hell is my stuff, I can't find it since they moved it"

Ok, I seem to have fixed my problem by replacing a missing .dll file in my windows/system directory. The file in question was d3dx9_30.dll. I hope this helps someone else fix their problem.

I have 2 computers and 2 accounts. 1 account works fine and never disconnects. The other account (my main account) disconnects randomly about 10 times a day (4 times in the last 90 minutes). To eliminate the PC as a possible cause i have switched pc's and it still happens. This would appear to be an issue on CCP's side. I would really like it fixed as it's entirely too annoying to continue paying for this performance.

I've tried reinstalling the client twice. The server keeps disconnecting me after less than 5 minutes. Please help thanks.

I am having an issue, and maybe others are having as well. Ill try to explain it, but forgive me if its hard to follow.
You need to clear the contents of the 'cache' folder in the eve directory. This is usually under 'C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE\cache'. Easiest way is to rename the cache to something else, then you can try merging your settings back in if it fixes the problem. I usually start by deleting the .blue file under map as it's highly suspect most of the time, but there was that fun time when corrupted jpgs could cause the problem.
Oh, how we larfed.
For CCP; ObFixItPara: Sack the content developers that don't know the correct use for a comma in a sentence, and hire more engine developers. Content is easy to create. A decent UI engine isn't.

Okay, you technologcal brainboxes HELP!
The past few nights eve has been virtually unplayable for me - every two to10 minutes I lose connection and the game reverts back to log-in screen.
It started happening after the first revelations patch a few months ago, especially during scanning looking for deadspaces in my covert ops. However, opening the help chat window (with its constant stream of ****e) stopped this happening.
But as of two or three nights ago it doesn't matter what channels are open. I now have two accounts and it got to the stage of starting one up, get the toon to do something - like mine - then start the other one up and do misisons. Go to the original toon and try and actvate a module...."atempt underway to activate module", then Lost Connection.
I have tried resetting the modem, playing with one character, playing with my pances on, not drinking while playing (both of which were very tough), and a myriad of other things but no luck.
As I say it was working fine last week and the week before (it was only after the fixes this week that is has started) with the dual accounts. I have petitioned it and will continue to do so everytime it happens, I have asked questions and search forums on eve to no avail.
BTW it affects no other online game, I have broadband, two gig of ram, good graphics card and good processor power. It runs the two accounts easily with only a bit of extra fan action (it does need a serious de-dusting though).
I have now uninstalled the eve client and am re-downloading it at home while I am at work. I am hoping that this will fix it. Any other suggestions?
I am not getting my fix properly and the Pogster without Eve = trouble with a capital offence.

I'm having a similar problem on my new laptop. So far its only locking up while in combat, but it completely freezes the computer. I can't window out, open up the task manager, it simply doesn't respond at all.
This doesn't seem to happen on my desktop, but that too is doing wierd things with the sound. The ingame music cuts in and out periodically for no apparent reason. Also the music and voice come out of my speakers, yet all combat sounds come from my microphone headseat.

Ok, I'm the one who left a very ditzy question a few weeks ago. I wanted to say I've fixed it (so far <fingers crossed>). I actually rolled back my video card driver. I have a laptop that meets or exceeds all the recommended requirements to play Eve but it wouldn't load up fully. If I was in a station it would freeze up before I could even log in fully, if I were out in space it would allow me to load up, but then lock up once I tried to do anything. After trying all the tweeks and suggestions I could find, I put in a petition. After nearly a week of waiting they suggested I update my graphics, audio, and chipset drivers. I managed to update my audio, have already updated my video as much as I could by going outside the box, and no luck on even finding what chipset I have. So as I was thinking.. I remembered trying to update my video driver even further and it wouldn't even TRY to play Eve, so I rolled back, I went to the two year old video driver put out by my Laptops maker, and... tadaaaaaaaa working EVE!!!
So, my suggestion is, to anyone who has a difficult time running Eve.. check your video driver, if you're using one of those really cool programs that fiddle around with ATI (ie. Radeon) to update drivers they dont do any longer, try going back to your original, it just might do the trick! Good luck.. after hours and hours and hours, I finally have it working on the laptop! ---- +..+ '¿¿)) -:ª:- +.+' .+'¿¿)) ((++.+' ...+' -:ª:-KattraStarr -:ª:- ((++..+'*

Okay I am officially at my wits' end. CCP has not responded to any questions I have raised in relation to this, my petitions or my forum post. I repeat I never had problems of this magnitude since early last week.
I have done the following: Deleted and reinstalled the eve client - twice with new downloaded version Removed eve folders from programs folder as well as uninstalling it before installing new client. Located and deleted the new 'invisible' cache folder - twice Called my broadband provider - no one else is having any timeout/lose connection issues with any game other than me. The 'lose connection' only happens when I play eve no other game Sound is not enabled on either of my two accounts Reset broadband router and changed default timeout settings
I have done everything I can think of. The last two days playing I have had 17 and 19 lost connections respectively. The game is unplayable.

I was only on the trial version, but was very interested in signing up a full paid subscription to the game. Except...
The game would crash with a BSOD every time I would enter deadspace and engage PvE mobs. It felt like it was something to do with the targetting system or something, because it would nearly always occur when either I was being acquired as a target, or I was acquiring a new target after eliminating a current target.
The BSOD mentioned BAD_POOL_HEADERs and my event logs in the system manager suggested that the crashes were due to corrupted linked lists.
These crashes only occured with EVE and its very sad that that's the case because I honestly LOVED, nay, ADORED the game and I only played it for 5 days. EVE is everything I've ever wanted in a game, but it threatens the integrity of my hardware, and therefore, as a piece of software, can't be trusted or tolerated.

It looks like you have a Realtek HD sound chipset on your motherboard. This is a well known BSOD. Fix is to set the audio hardware acceleration to none. (it's a workaround while waiting for a real fix from CCP)
