there are so many messages, all you need is to learn and try, in short - weak/getting old PSU? bring it to a computer technican and let it check/configure - underclock your vidcard for a test - underclock your CPU for a test - disable all sound via devicemanager (deactivate) - push gently all the gcards in the slots, sometimes they get lose - check Fans, clean en up - check drivers, do you get BSOD or just reboot?
its not always EVE, eve can just show the problems when such programs stress your PC

Baron,
I feel your pain. May you please list out your specs plus Power supply age and watts. I tried everything and in the end it turned out to be my power supply. Does your game just reboot your computer or does it BSOD. If you have upgraded anything on your PC ie video card ram sound card and have not checked your power supply watt out put then I truly believe this is the issue.

I've been running EVE fine on the same computer for 3 years. Since one of the patches in January, I have not been able to keep the machine from crashing randomly. Note this only happens in EVE now. I play BF2 and some other computer games for hours and hours on end and never have this problem.
I was running the same install of EVE on the same install of XP for about 3 years and then suddenly the computer started to lock up and the screen shut off sometime in January. I wasn't getting any error messages or anything, so I figured my EVE had finally gotten rotted enough with all the years of not reloading XP. So I wiped the whole drive and installed the entire system fresh. Full patches critical updates to windows. First thing I install is EVE. Crash occurs again, this time it goes to a blue screen that is always "ati2dev.dll" related. I've looked this up on google groups, but it looks like an older driver problem ATI was having. Most of the EVE unrelated complaints for this error occurred back in 2001-2005. I can't find any sooner than that.
I can get it to crash 90% of the time while docked in the station. Rarely will it crash when I'm doing a mission or flying around space. The time it crashes is completely random (usually at least 40+ mins) though sometimes I leave it on and docked for hours without it crashing. I'm running a 500 watt power supply, 4x 120mm fans, OEM heat sink.
I keep the machine spotless, and it has its own special air filtration so dust can't get in the case. I've been trying to disprove that the EVE software is causing this problem mostly because I am bias of EVE. However I can't draw up any other conclusion at this time. It's not the most terrible thing ever. The game is playable, and I can do even the scariest missions without worrying about it crashing. However if it happened in the middle of PVP that would be lame. Right now I'm just staying away from that stuff and just trying to care bear as much as possible till I find a fix for this.
Currently the machine is in a clean state install. No additives! Just raw XP home + EVE. I want to nip this in the bud.
Specs:
-Intel Pentium 4 3.0E -ATI Radeon x850XT Platinum -2gb PC4000 heatsinked memory -A-BIT IC7-MAX3 Motherboard
The video card I upgraded about 2-3 years ago whenever the x850xt came out. EVE was still running flawless when I first got it.

I have been having this same troubles.
My pc just go totally black screen and i have to hard reboot. I tried a lot of stuff, from new drivers, cleaning stuff, etc.
Until now only one thing solved my problem, i had to turn off the sound card hardware ( computer properties, sound devices, my realtek HD card properties, and selecting there to not use it ).
Since i done that i stopped having problems, so this might help some of you. This is not the solution, but can be a temporary fix until someone can figure out why this is happening.

I have a DLINK router, probably at least 4-5 times a day my connection drops out to the Eve Client (only) its a real pain in the arse, I'm no computer genious but I've tried a lot of what CCP suggest to do, it still happens.
Whats started happening lately is that during intense moments (say warp into a system with 400 locals or combat with more than 1 person) it actually reboots my pc. I can't begin to describe how frustrating this is and im sure its happening to others out there and they know how it feels when you log back on as quick as you can, to find a pod waiting for you - its great! *sigh*
Why is this happening with only this game? I'd care more but RL issues atm dont make this super priority numero uno, otherwise id be blowing up CCP's phone lines (they have phones ??).
*sighhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh*
Hope something "magically " fixes itself in the next week or so otherwise i think i might just sell up the characters & give the isk away to friends and be done with it.

did you tried it with a direct conenction (no router)? and "intense" moments mean cpu and driver stress, if your hardware isnt fully "tuned" you get the reboot. please untick the automatic rebooting to see the bluescreen (its described in the second post) so you get a clue WHAT driver crashes.

Now I'm getting sick of this Blue Screens with this BAD_POOL_HEADER crap. And it only happens when I'm on mission runs. Never when I'm out mining for hours and hours. It's strange really..
Anyone got a clue on what the problem could could lie/be ?

I had alot of bluescreen when on mission with more than like 5 enemies. I've got RealTekĻ97 audio and updated those drivers from my motherboards web and put hardware acceleration down to half. Didn't help.
Then (2 days ago) I downloaded drivers from www.RealTek.com.tw, and havent had a problem since. Yet. Havent tried full hardware accleleration though.
I also have the option to totally disable the RealTek audio, since I always game with my USB headset.

Edited by: Philip Jones on 26/02/2007 22:11:18 Wel, i have tried all these things mentioned by everyone, here and can find no solution to my problem.
The game plays fine and I can do everything with no problems, until I decide to some exploration. I find the problem starts aroud 4:30 in the afternoon until 11 at night EvE time. When i launch a probe its fine, until the countdown gets near to 0, then i CTD.
I get annoyed after the 4th time, do some missions, mine etc, think 'Ok its fine now', go back to exploration, and same thing happens.... CTD.
Seeing as this is all i want to do atm, its a real pain. I can have my alt mining while i do this, he never gets disconnected, so the only thing I can guess at, is that the game things i'm idling and boots me, even if i set my ship flying in random directions.

Hello. I seem to have the exact same problem as DNSBLACK had but with a little twist. EvE runs just fine and all of a sudden it crashes my PC. I have tryed format, new drives, jiggle the hardware, clean the hardware, new client download, disable sound drom dxdiag. Ok so it crashes but the wierd thing is, it all dissapears after a week or two, then it just comes back to normal. This thing has happened a lot to me but lately it's getting annoying.

Edited by: Adonis Ahern on 28/02/2007 11:21:13 ok so now i have this problem, as soon as i log into eve with just the account, the game will begin loading the character selection screen, and upon where it should show it, it closes it down without an error or anything, i re-downloaded the verision off of the website, but upon loading the new patch, it continually does this, and i have no fix for this because it has just begun doing this.
egor: i had the same problem, then i changed my sound card drivers and then it was all good till this problem.

Edited by: Igor Epocci on 01/03/2007 17:08:15 I have a new one for you: I'm 10 days into my 14 day trial, and this morning, just as I finally train up to cruiser, Windows Vista kills the client as I'm entering the station during initial client load:
"CPP Blue Framework has stopped working: A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
I close the window and get the following:
"CPP Blue Framework has been closed. To help protect your computer Data Execution Prevention has closed CCP Blue Framework. Click to learn more"
Clicking opens a Windows Help session that doesn't help much. It tells hoe to exclude a program (executable files ONLY) from DEP, but apparently whatever is causing DEP to kill the client isn't contained in the Eve executable.
After reading the above posts, I notice a trend. I was on plast midnight lat night as well. Could this be an issue with yesterday's patch, and I'm just getting a little extra information on the crash because I'm running Vista 64?

Originally by: Dr Slice When Eve crashes for me, my internet actually stops working also. Its like Eve just puts an end to my internet connection, very strange.
So the Eve screen freezes, then I drop connection and can't Cntrl+Q or ALT+Tab out. I have to manually reboot the computer. Once I do this the internet connection re-establishes itself.
The frequency of this problem happening has increased dramatically in the last 1.5 months.
Anyone else experience this?
I had a problem much the same and after much head scratching called in BT engineer friend ( I live in the UK ). He tested the line and said the line was noisy and consequently the router drops connection. (the sync light on the router goes out or flashes )
I was later connected to another local exchange and experienced far fewer drops.

eve is now doing the same thing for me, in vista, data execution prevention is preventing the game from loading.
i know vista is not supported yet, but it needs to be, and soon...
i believe this is cause by an exe not being digitally signed

Aye. I've got the same problem. I've installed the new AC97 drivers, reinstalled my client and rebooted my 'puter countless times. There's gotta be a fix to this that isn't 'reinstall the client n times and hope it'll work'... I've run the dxdiag in hopes of finding an error there but to no avail. It logs in fine, but just as the 'entering station' nears completion the client folds without a single error message.
Has anyone got a fix? (Lest I'm doomed to play PS2 the rest of my life )

can someone from CPP tell us what this "CPP Blue Framework" is? as before today i have never heard of it.
also the first time it crashed with this error, i presume it was because my firewall auto blocked it, i have since let this program thru but its still crashing. I have tried everything mentioned in this thread and no results ----------------------------- The End Is Nigh So Lets Party |

I'm getting the same problem, when I'm trying to log onto my main, my cilent CTD without any logs to indicate why, I tried running the EVE log server to track this but alas nothing, I can log onto my main from a different computer no problem, and I can log onto my alt on this one no problem, so I'm baffled as to what is causing this, I've reinstalled the client twice, and it's still persisting. I even disabled the eve voice in the pref (thought this might help due to the recent patch) and nothing.
if anyone has ANY idea of how to bypass this it would be greatly appreciated.

Hmm, my issue is similar to the ones above, I have two accounts, one my main which i've had for around 2ish years now, the other a trial account i started a few days ago. The problem I'm getting is thus: I log onto my main account, get to the character selection screen, and choose my character, it loads up, and i get to see my pretty little ship for about 5 seconds before I crash to desktop. Same thing happened to the alt on that same account. On my trial account however I have no problems. Additionally, I am able to log onto my main on the house computer so the problem only affects THIS computer, and THIS account . I have tried rebooting computer, re-installing Eve and still have the same problem. If anyone has any ideas as to how I can resolve this, please let me know.

After hours of troubleshooting and dead ends I now believe my problem to be based on the fact I have (now 'had') two microphones on my computer combined with issues in the latest patch. I'm reinstalling XP from scratch anyways now, but if my problem remains the same I will try this possible workaround:

Specifically for me my client freezes when I am at my POS and I change ships at the ship array. About 75% of the time it will freeze at the point I choose to board a new ship. This is happening on two different computers I play EvE on that have nothing in common. Task manager will say the application is not responding and I have to kill EvE. Weird, but at least I am not freezing during combat.
