Originally by: Vilth Wiben Ok, this is my 10 cents...
I've been very frustrated and swore high and low at CCP for giving us this great game but allowed it to crash on us.
For weeks I lost numerous drones because my PC would just die and restart while anywhere in any system or mission... or station... lately there was a pattern; every 10 minutes (give or take a few).
In my case it is was not client, sound or patch related. My best assessment is that it was heat. So, I vacuumed the PC and for good measure, moved the video card to another slot.
What do you know, no crashes since. All the time wasted searching and swearing (not to mention the drone loss) if only I did the basics right... I was on the brink of buying a new PC!!
Good luck to all that are still having EVE die on them, I know what worked for me may not work for you.
Ciao Vilth
"Anyone who thinks that they are too small to make a difference has never been in bed with a mosquito."
Ive been getting this same problem, and it also seems mine may be heat related, I was running classic on a radeon 9550 and it works fine (stil does) but if i put in the nvidia 6200 (for premium) it restarts the machine at random intervals. CPU temp is high in both cards tho, yet only ne crashes, does anyone know if the 6200 is drawing more from the psu?

this blanket information that they give is typicall and understanding when dealing with a majority of ppl... you need to do this, or fix this about your comp. When it should be relized that 13 pages of replys and combined with a recent "patch". that it isn't all of OUR hardware that is malfuctioning ALL at once. the player community didn't band together to make this issue, please face facts CCP: fix your client--fix your "patch" fix your "sever" or w/e it is that you proffessionals do. enough with the smoke screen with the problem being on our end, for some ppl ya but not this many.

I had these same things on Sisi during the test deployment and I remember trying to bug report it then, too. Same offset and everything. I did a totally clean client wipe & reinstall when Trinity went live on Tranq, so this issue has persisted over two different client installs.
Running an Intel C2D E6600, 2gb RAM, EVGA GeForce 8800GTX 768mb with the 11/12/2007 driver release (6.14.11.6909) under Windows XP SP2. Sound card is a SoundBlaster X-Fi with the 6/18/2007 driver release (5.12.8.1201).
AppName: exefile.exe AppVer: 4.10.0.44942 ModName: blue.dll ModVer: 4.10.0.44942 Offset: 000534a6
OK - snap. Same error, same symptoms (around stations and gates) and very similar setup:
e6600, 4Gb RAM (32-bit OS so not utilizing all RAM), Gainward GeForce 8800GTZ 768Mb with latest drivers (I installed these on Weds over the previous drivers to see if it would resolve the issue) and also a Soundblaster X-FI Platiunum F4tal1ty (18/06/2007 drivers but I have all sound disabled in-game). XP Professional SP2.
As I can still run in Classic mode without any issues, It's not a major issue for me but it does take some of the shine off of the patch (literally).
edit: I should add this most certainly isn't heat related as both CPU and GPU are watercooled and running well under within operating spec

Great, I'm getting stuck at "Entering game as ..." again. Been trying for an hour now. I thought it's a Sunday night super Jita lag, but then again, can't log with any of my alts.
this problem never happened before the patch. Not even once. Is there any official word on the matter? I wish there was a voting system on bugs... I know I'm not the only one with this problem.

Yeah. Major issues here too. I haven't played this game since the original Beta. Since there's the trial now I thought I'd give it a go. I downloaded the latest client and updated with SM3 content.
The experience has been TERRIBLE. It seems the client is having some kind of connection issue. It continues to run, but any windows etc. that I open won't update with any content. After a few minutes the front-end comes up and tells me "connection to server lost". If I check the logs, however, it tells me CCP Exefile.exe crashed. On occasion the crash will happen on the "entering game as" screen. All hardware is within normal operating temps (and pc is running default speeds despite being capable of stable gaming at 40% overclock). Whenever the above happens the CCP server is in fact reachable, so nothing wrong with my connection. Have all the latest drivers etc. No issues with any other games.
Man am I glad this is a 2 week TRIAL and not something I paid for.
Dual Core E6300, Asus P5N32-E SLI (i680), 2Gb PC6400, ATI X1950Pro 512Mb, Vista Home Premium 64Bit
Once the ATI Linux drivers are a wee bit more stable I'll give the Linux client a go.

My EVE was crashing whenever I approached a gate or station. I re-installed. Now it crashes whenever I'm about to fight anything.
etc, etc...
Not that I don't sympahise with my fellow EVE-crash sufferer - I do, believe me.
Its just that I must've read 4 million 'problem' posts, and don't seem to have come across any 'answer' ones
Can anyone point us to the posts that offer some solutions?
Thanks!!

Hi,
I had a perfectly running system until yesterday. Then I upgradet from AMD Socket 939 with NForce4 to Intel Q6600 with NForce 650i.
I kept the 8800GTS and since that day I have a BSOD after a random amount of time. I can run other games, I can run 3DMark...everything works fine for hours. But EvE crashes 2 to 4 times an hour the whole system. I first thought it might be a heat-problem, but the temperatures are within green range and it crashes anyway.
I have no clue what this could be, except a Mem-Leak or something like that.
Unfortunately, the system crashes heavily, I cant even read the BSOD.
Regards,
van Hinden

Trinity is a bloody mess. Got state-of-the-art hardware, but once a 2nd client is up, or any other 3D game along with an EVE session, graphics flicker for a few seconds, and then the entire system locks up. Complete meltdown. I installed the classic version only now - graphics still flicker as hell with two clients, but no crashes yet.
Looking at the amount of people in this thread, it's apparent that CCP's messed up bigtime. What's particularly annoying, is that my 10 days old patition about this still have not been answered...

Running pretty gorram up to date machine (quad core, 4gb ram, 8800gtx, vista enterprise etc etc). Seems to randomly crash from anything from 5 minutes to several hours. Mostly when I undock or try and actually *do* something other than talking in channels. Prior to Trinity, it was all peachy and life was good. Excellent in terms of content, but golly gee whiz guys...stability? No Guts, No Galaxy!

It's fine while I'm sitting in a station, but as soon as I undock the program crashes claiming to have a problem in a dll, usually blue.dll but not always. I did some more testing and it seems that everything works when I'm in empty space, but as soon as I go to an area where a structure happens to be the game crashes. I don't have any problems when using classic content.
Specs: Intel Core2 Duo (1.6 Ghz or so) NVidia GeForce Go 7400 1 Gb RAM Windows XP SP2 etc.
I hope it's not a hardware problem.
Thanks
I have the exact same problem on my laptop and seemingly almost the same specs.
Intel Core2 Duo 2.0 Ghz NVidia GeForce Go 7300 1 Gb RAM Windows XP SP2
Tried to fiddle with a lot of options, but nothing seems to work. Each time I undock from a station, Crash within 10 secs. If I'm out in 0.0 and in my pod, I'm good, than if I try to get into a ship.. crash! It's annoying as hell. The classic client runs without a hickup...
Having exact same symptoms. HP DV8000 laptop with almost same specs, with GF Go 7400 and 2 Gb RAM. Using the Classic client without problem.

Same here. Ever since the 1.0.1 update I've been experiencing random crashes and disconnects all the time. I couldn't really find a common denominator for them, I was doing multiple tasks on one occasion, otherwise I was just doing things I normally do in EVE.
My specs are up to date for the most part.
Quad Core 4GB 8500GT NVIDIA Vista Home Premium DX 9
etc, etc, etc.
Probably going to start training a level 5 skill and stay off until another patch comes out to fix this because last night's session was really frustrating. I was booted from the server about 20 times.

Well, tried the CPU splitting thing - this time I VPU recover message managed to pop up before the entire system melted - so it's definately my Radeon HD 3850 that Trinity crashes...

Hi I had the same problems of hard freezes for no reason using the premium update every 20 mins or less so I uninstalled it and used the classic one instead and now EVE works for me.Heres my settings for which I use in the classic EVE fullscreen colourdepth 24bit+8bit alpha 1680x1050 depth/stencil format 24bit z buffer present interval default cache size off audio off
My system specs are E6750 ,Geforce 8800GT ,2GB ram ,Windows vista home premium 32bit. I know there not the best visuals of EVE but id rather be able to play than not and at least I get good fps Hope this helps some folks

Me too. Exact same symptom. The crashes usually seem to happen when I click on somthing, like a gate to jump through it. Sometimes it can run for hours with no problem but sometimes it crashes after 20 minutes. I'm glad I'm not alone.

It's only the EvE application which crashes so it can't be heat related like some of the other crashes seem to be.
My specs: 3.0 GHz Intel Dual core, 4 GB Ram, 8800 GTS, Vista Home premium (64-bit edition)
I have only tried the premium client so far. I will revert to the older client and give that a try.
I believe there are several different crashing issues going on, but I would get the random crash on Vista with my Q6600, 3gigs, and 8800gts 320, sometimes (but not always) getting an error afterwards mentioning DEP. Would usually happen when just entering warp, but sometimes would happen if I was just sitting at a gate. Also happens to me in trinity 1.0.1. So far the solution for me seems to be to simply have shadows off in premium. I realize that this isn't desirable, but given the alternative....shadows off with no crashes seems appealing. Been running fine for a few days now since I've made the change, whereas before I would last maybe a few hours before it would happen. Monitoring temps also indicates that it's not a heat issue, and only EVE would crash, my system would be fine otherwise.
Just to be expressly clear, here are my settings Dither off Advanced on Window mode 24-bit color 1152x864 24 bit z buffer interval immediate Everything checked under Common Graphics Settings except widescreen Premium enabled Shadows off HDR off Cache size high
HDR/AA is on through nHancer and looks great. =)
Hope this helps.

I'll try turning off the shadows. I keep hearing a lot of people mention that their client will crash in a matter of hours, maybe 20 minutes. I've been experiencing crashes at a VERY frequent rate. 3, 4, 5 minutes...10 at the longest.
I'm a big fan of the new graphics, but this is a big problem. I hope there are a lot more of these types of problems being mentioned to CCP so that it can be quickly resolved.

my second post in this thread... I've had little luck making out whats wrong but I did find a new use for drones! While I'm in a rat infested area, or just having my drones floating around, I dont get disconnected. Usually I get disconnected as soon as I start idling, matter of seconds even, but the drones seem to maintain my activity. I have tested this for hours with 100% success(as long as my drones are in my ship, I start having problems again though). My worst enemy now is trading inside a station.
Seems to me the EVE server is giving me ping timeouts after extraordinarily short period.
I have made sure my router and firewall settings areas they should, I even replaced my router for a newer model. No luck.

Edited by: Avaleric on 21/12/2007 20:56:40 Ok, on tip from another entry in this thread, I can now see what's wrong: with 2 clients up, the background client graphics is flickering into view in the foreground one. Running classic the system can handle it. Running in premium leads to a complete meltdown, even though the fps is over 150, and temperature not above 40C...
You reading this CCP?!?!?

Same problem here. Client keeps crashing randomly. Even when just sitting in station changing fittings.
Premium, HDR: off, cache: high, shadow: normal (i'll try turning them off)
Vista Ultimate 64bit, Quad Extreme Q6850, 4gb ram, 8800GTX x2 (latest non beta driver), liquid cooled
Not having a problem with any other games.

Same here pps .. Client or should I say clients(due to the vast number of alts) crash all the time It really weird sometimes only 1 client stays up with no dc's for about 4-6 hours. If I try to load a 2nd account it will crush immediatly or withing a few secs/mins. The weird thing is that since Trinity some of my countrym8s are experiencing constant dc's. Our common clue is that we all have the same Isp (and no I'm not from UK- no Tiscali subscriber) some ppl changed Isp and voila dc prolems solved. I don't think my current isp decided to change something during trinitys deployment and I don't think that changing Isp (which incudes some cost) is the only solution. Its also weird the way clients "crashes" either with the messages "Connection to server lost" or "Connection was closed" or they will crash to Desktop and then an EVE client will automaticly run again or They'll simply go to the log in screen. Question : as GM Retrofire sayes in the original post "Simply add Audio=0 to your ..\CCP\Eve\Cache\prefs.ini file." Not that it will help, already tried to disable sound and I had the same soundless this time problem, but I dont see a file/folder with such name in my eve's folder. Downloaded an new Premium client wasn't there either. Note I started Playing eve since August 2007 with no dc problems back then till trinity at least. If I want to clean my cache .. how do I do that ?
Happy Dis/cos Everyone
