If your running windows Vista: You may have some how gotten into the eve chat beta, or ccp turned it onish for everyone.
Try this -- go to you eve directory, edit prefs.ini the last line place voiceenabled=0 save file. Restart eve. Should work. Very annoying....spent 2 hours till i realized I had been stuck in the beta...

I have following problem:
When i do a tutorial at the station the game works well, but when i go to space, my client freezes after 10 seconds, then comes the black screen and my computer hangs totally.
Strange is following - the game works pretty well during this seconds before freezing and then suddenly hangs.
I have tryed re-installation, renaming the "cache" file to "temp-cache", disabling the hardware acceleration for my sound card, re-installation of video drivers and adding a "voiceenabled=0" string. Nothing helps.
Maybe im not alone with this problem and someone can help me to solve it?
My config:
Samsung Laptop P28 Intel Celeron Centrino 1,3 GHZ 512 RAM ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 IGP videocard Windows XP SoundMAX Digital Audio DirectX 9.0c

To avoid the DEP shutting down Blue Framework try this: In C:\CCP\EVE\bin - move the three files Vxc.dll, VxPortManager.dll and VxRTCCore.dll to e.g your desktop when reaching character selection. You can put them back in when you're logged all the way in. It works in Vista Home Premium...

did you create that char on the last sunday by any chance? ;) you can hit ctrl-f and check how much frames you get when docked/undocked you could try alt-enter to switch playmode (windows/fullscreen) usually i play on windows mode and never had any issues. you can also go to your grafik-panel and disable the "v-sync" option maybe some other tweaks are needed. i need to know more about the system to fully check that. you could try to start=>run dxdiag and save the diagnostics file and send it to me then i can check out what dlls and drivers you got, perhaps i can find some other things to suggest :-P an working email would be baleorg at xtrapas dot com :-P

I have some problems with crashing to. It gose like this: I have a 1.5 Mbit/370 Kbit connection. If i connect my PC directly to my cable modem i have seldom any problems. and never gets disconnected. But when i connect it true my router ( a grandstream 486, it is a IP phone box with a router in it.) I have a lot of problems. After DT when it shall acuire bulkdata it always looes connection. And when the game is running, it crash randomly, but most when i aproach a gate, open market, and other loading things.
I think the problem is the router, how can i test what is wrong with it? What can be done? I never have problems in other MMO games. everquest 1 and 2, LOTRO, WoW and others, so what is eve doing difrent?

Just a note because noone seems to of mentioned it: Since the last patch when swapping ships at a pos randomly my client locks up. I estimate it happens approximately one in ten ship swaps.
I havent had any prior problems like this, and asking our alliance it seems to be pretty commonplace.
Bringing up the task manager and killing eve then reloading and your happily in your new ship, just a worry if you want to change ships with a hostile in system.

I have the problem as Fatum Naamah.
In the Space when I (or somebody near me) destroy an enemy ship (I'm in tutorial and my enemy is auto-bots) the client drops and Windows shows a message that my display driver (vtdisp.dll) is not answered. Display drops to 640x480 and 256 colors, Eve-client works (music and sound still work) but I don't enter to it.
My system: laptop BENQ R22 CPU: AMD Turion 64 1.6GHz Video: Via/S3G Unichrome Pro IGP (on K8M800 chip) OS: Windows XP Pro SP2
I installed fresh drivers for videocard but problem don't vanish.

Edited by: Mik Nostrebor on 13/03/2007 04:55:45 I get the same probs a Fatuma and others
System: AMD Sempron 3300+ (Desktop) Memory: 512Mb Sound: Realtek AC '97 onboard Video: Geforce FX5200 OS: XP SP2 Game Mode: Windowed Sound: on or off - no change Other programs running: GMail notifier. SAV Corp Edition v10. Occasional firefox 1.5 and XL 2003, Eve-mon occasionally.
What: Eve will hang. If left for more than 20-30 seconds will cause the computer to completely lock up. If I can terminate Eve from Task Manager. I can then log back in and all is fine.
When: On some changes of state, ie leaving station, changing ship at POS, hoping from one ship to another in dead or other space, boarding ship in space from a pod. Problem tends to manifest after playing th game for sometime. The more I change ships the greater the likelyhood of a lockup occurring.
Thoughts: Seems to be some sort of memory leak. Possibly a graphics memory leak as I checked the task manager and had a good amount of memory still available.
Attempts to resolve issue: 1) Re-installed client from fresh download. 2) Disabled Sound 3) Downloaded lastest sound card drivers on the past weekend from Gigabyte (Mobo manufacturer site)

I also have a GigaByte mobo, and had problems with their soundcard drivers. When I installed drivers from http://www.realtek.com.tw/ instead AND put down hardware accelleration to about half, the problem dissapered. One of those two things solved it for me.

Edited by: HQGuy on 16/03/2007 06:01:55 Eve reproducibly crashes upon login if I don't have my sound hardware connected (I use an external USB headpohone), regardless of whether the audio system is enabled or disabled. The last message in the log server is: "vivox login". Also happens with a fresh client.
Only manually setting "voiceenabled=0" in the prefs.ini file as suggested above fixes this.

if its not mentioned here then go there, and voice your bugreport. and/or file a bugreport describing that vivox doesnt seem to work with usb stuff, also start=>run=>dxdiag and save the file and submit it aswell, so they can easier track down the problem. can help in improving the client :)

I have been playing eve for a little over 2 weeks. Since I started playing eve, I have had my computer suddenly freeze(fans still work but monitor goes black)and cannot ctrl-alt-del, my ventrillo stops working too. When I restart my computer I can restart ventrillo but I see a ghost of myself when I connect(my ghost self does leave ventrillo though). I am in my late 40s and computer phobic. So if you have advice for me please give me a an idiots step by step guide. Love eve but frightened of breaking my computer or doing something that I cant undo(due to my ignorance). Thanks in advance.

do you play other games aswell (like which ones? ) who crash sometimes aswell?
is your pc "default drivers that came with windows" or did you manually update your drivers? for nvidia videocards you need to go to Nvidia and download the driver there and throw it over for ati i like Omegadrivers
what soundcard you have/use? simple onboard (bad) or an soundcard like soundblaster ? is your PC "tuned" (overclocked) ?

Hello,
I get a complete system re-boot during Eve when I am in warp and come to a Stargate. Just before coming out of warp my whole system re-boots. This doesn't happen all the time but it happesn on certain gates (NGM some places around Skarkon). It doesn't matter if there are no other ships in the area or if there are 40.
Upon re-start and coming back into game I am back in warp and coming out of warp back into gate it will re-boot again (50% of the time).
I have tried removing things off the overview screen (trans, speed etc). Ticking and unticking the filters etc. Enabeld and disabled sound in game. Cleaned cache files.
I have even re-installed eve 5-6 times. I have downloade the latest Catalyst Control Cneter and updated ATI drivers. I have cleaned the insied of the PC. Pulled out and re-seated the graphics card.
It doesn't do this on any other games (Doom 3, HL2 etc).
Windows XP Pentium 4 ATI Radeon 9800 512 MB Ram
I am wondeirng if it is a power supply issue, a heat issue on the card or really a driver/client issue. It is strange that it is only EVE and it happens when I come out of warp and just get to certain stargates or areas.

I'm having the same problem and like this poster I don't know squat about anything being said here.
I would like to know why if it is on my end does it only happen sporadically? I can go for days without going to black screen. Then suddenly out of the blue it will act up. It has happened undocking from a station. It has happened going into warp. And the latest mishap occurred when I was in a level 4 mission with the cartel. That one really sucked. |
