I'm not entirely sure why eve keeps crashin, but if i disable the sound it runs just fine. This however isn't sufficient, I want to be able to run the game with the sound. Can someone give me a suggestion in means to solving this problem. I've already checked the support section on this subject, and I've got the most recent windows update. Thank you.

seeing the many many many threads around this forum tells me (and iam 98% sure) that youre using an onboard sound, prohably realtek based
i got a "real" soundcard sb life that works fine, i also have an ac97 cmedia based onboard sound that works fine, too but i lose some fps because onboard sound needs cpu power to render the soun. the best way is to buy a cheap soudncard (hey, sb life as example ARE cheap, but good in my opinium) you also will have much betetr sound quality and more performance :-p and if iam on the 2%... what soundcard you have then?

yes obsolete patch is out of date, i need to poke gm retrofire a bit .-P
did you patch to the actual client? using the offical one, the mirror, or my alternative system? what version number did it report? when do you crash? tried (sorry for broken report) DEACTIVATING your (prohably) internal soundcard in your devicemanager for a sec and check if you still crash? you got an realtek based soundcard?

I get bluescreens sometimes, during encounters. I think they are in some way related to the types of rats I fight and maybe how many or how far away they are.
In any case, every time it happens, the screen says BAD_POOL_HEADER. does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

my research shows that Bad_pool_header usualyl has somethign to do with a WLAN card.. you have WLAN installed? update those drivrs, or try for a workaround DISABLING wlan and connect by other means does that help?

disabling sound devices did not help... all drivers are latest available, os (xp) with all latest updates, downloaded full latest client, but still crashes. when looking at logs it seems that cleint crashes have something to do with NetClient.dll - what ever that means... (though i'm not a programmer and might be wrong)

hmm.. you using an ONBOAD ln card? realtek prohably? did you update your realtek driver aswell? i know that windows has netwrork drivers, but you usually need your own realtek drivers to make it more smoother (yep, had one realtek aswell, it gets recognized, but instlalls a default driver, not that stable) check www.realtek.com (not sure about adress tbh) and download latest driver for yoru card. it surely reports something like realtek axxxx where xxxx is a digit

Edited by: Mazhius on 12/02/2007 12:57:29 yes, it is onboard, but intel chipset ( i know it officially is not supported, but used to work fine and client runs with no problem on office pc which is "weaker") and it is updated with latest available drivers (good thing about these crashes is that I totally updated all drivers...)
did anyone tried this: (http://support.eve-online.com/Pages/KB/Article.aspx?id=333) 1.Locate and rename your eve/cache/browser/img folder (the new name can be anything). 2.Open EVE. 3.Delete newly created img folder. 4.Login.
does it help?
today I'll try to reinstal client ver 25245 (this is the only one left apart latest...) and go with all patches released after this client. It seems I managed to collect all (7 patches since 25245 client), though I'm not sure whether do I have that optional patch that suppose to solve the problem previuosly(GM removed link). any chance this could help?
And if that will not, I think of trying to copy all EVE files from "non crashing client" instalation (office pc) to my home pc... any chance this could help?
and thanx for You input Baleorg

onyl way related to soundcard i know afaik is to DEACTIVATE soundcard in your devicemanager to troubleshoot if it still crashes.. i noticed that in the last patch they modified the audio.dll prohably trying to make it work better
killign the img from folder should not bring you a crash if its soundrelated

might sound stupid, but if your client "progressly dies more often" theny ou might want to chek your clooing system, clea your vid/gpu fan, and if youre confident enough dismuont the fan and comletly celean it, smigle a little bit, apply new of the paste and attach all together

1. I have cleaned everything and reattached the heat sinks with new putty.
2. I have a run a monitering history of all my heat indexs and there is no heat spikes, voltage drops of any kind.
3. I have tried every fix on this page. I have removed every sound card and have disabled the onboard card same result. Dumped cache. I could not disable sound cause the feature in the cach folder was not there. I have installed new drivers for video card and I have tried rolling drivers back. I have updated every driver on my system. I have unplugged every USB and have check IRQ settings for conflics. I have reinstalled XP 2 times and have down loaded the game 4 times and installed it 7 times. When it does reboot or crash I get no blue screen of death messege even when I turn off the auto reboot. My screen locks up with funny vertical lines over top of my desktop screen. I did recieve a blue sceen one time but had no error messege. What i find funny is this is happening to alot of people and yet you want to blame it on a hardware.
Specs
ASUS p4800 MB socket 478 P4 3.2 Intel chip set prescott 65 ( missing a numer) 36gig WD 10000 rpm HD ATI xt850 radeon 2.5 GIG RAM 3200 I have removed all sound cards.(Tried- SB Live, Realtek, SB Audigy Plat, NONE) 450 watt power supply. Windows XP Pro SP2 DX 9.0c
The game had run fine and then after the set of JAN patchs it started to mess up. I find it funny that we are all having the same issue and you are telling us it is a hardware issue. None of the fixes above worked and Iam getting desperate. I can play any other game with no issues, even one that are more video demanding then this game. My last test will happen tonight as I remove and try to run the game one 512mb ram stick at a time. Iam hoping that it is ram issue and this solves it I will report back as soon as I know.

I build PC and I have taken the card out cleaned it and put it back in and I have also tried my old Nvida card and same result. If it was loose I wouold know the computer would not boot at all and the tab would not shut. Iam thinking this is a INTEL chip set issue. I have the 865p set running at the minute. If it was a video card problem all games would be effected, If it was ram or heat all games would be effected. I truly believe it is a chip set issue with my intel chip set. Iam running a SIS chip set on another machine and it has no issue at all and it is 2 years older then this machine. CCP please look at chip sets and problems that unless you are doing this to help AMD lol just joking.

Edited by: Reycks Armunicus on 16/02/2007 00:38:52 someone mentioned earlier that the BAD_POOL_HEADER bluescreens might have something to do with the wlan. can anyone tell me more about this, or exactly how I'd go about disabling it? thanks

When Eve crashes for me, my internet actually stops working also. Its like Eve just puts an end to my internet connection, very strange.
So the Eve screen freezes, then I drop connection and can't Cntrl+Q or ALT+Tab out. I have to manually reboot the computer. Once I do this the internet connection re-establishes itself.
The frequency of this problem happening has increased dramatically in the last 1.5 months.
Anyone else experience this?

Well after many a day trying to figure it out I have finally done it.
Tried every fix on this page and then some. I finally went out and got a new power supply. Went from a 380 wat to a 600 wat. Never thought that this would be the issue until someone mentioned the load on the CPU. Well it turned out that I was under powering my video card due to the amount of power the CPU was drawing. If you havnt tried getting a new power supply you should. Plus it turned out that my power suppply was getting old.
I would like to thank everyone for helping me on the thread. Now my game is running great and Iam back to my daily 8 hours of EVE hehehehe. So if you havnt checked it try a new power supply if your game is rebooting. If you have recently gotten a new video card latly more then likly this is the issue.
Some good things that came of this problem are:
1. Super clean computer. 2. New Logitech G15 key board (Told the wife that I need a new keyboard) 3. New power supply 4. New back up video card. 7600GS 512 meg card. 5. Fresh install of XP, Eve, and all the drivers. 6. Only loss was all the ISK I could have made but at least I was on long training cycles.
Thank you CCP for your hard work and to all those willing to take the time to help out us old farts. Safe flying and see you in EVE.

Edited by: jaffro on 20/02/2007 00:26:11 Until i saw this thread i assumed i was the only one getting these crashes... I also assumed it was to do with running 2 clients on same machine as most of my crashes were occuring when one client warped to the other, however it's getting worse and now i'm getting crashes wether i run 1 client or two.
The story so far:
I've deleted my cache folders on both clients, still crashes.
I've disabled sound on both clients, and hardware accelleration in windows control panel, and through dxdiag... still crashes.
I've dropped all settings on both clients as low as i can handle, but this frustrates me cos I've been running 2 clients all year on decent graphic settings without an issue.
I saw a thread yesterday mentioning that a recent patch had been causing some extra load / overheating on vidcars so I tried pointing a big 240v fan at the hot spots... I played all night last night without a crash, then this morning I crashed 3 times in a row warping one client to the same spot (start of a mission in a laggy system).
That is what led me back here, so now i'm going to try a few more of the things I've seen in this thread and see how it goes, but that stuff about the PSU worries me as I have been getting power related errors from my video card for a while now... so it's starting to look like the obvious cause.
fingers crossed...
