Gripen is, so I believe, exporting this CCP original into some database engine EFT use and modifies EFT to be compatible with database format changes under EFT hood. Thus database editor is probably not possible as it is one-way process and only by Gripen.
The ship bonuses are probably the only problem with trying to update the datafiles - the standard ship stats (cap, hp, regen times, slots, etc) look like they're stored in a standard format in Ships.dat, and could be edited. However, ship bonuses are likely only represented by an ID number, and changing them could be significantly more complicated, and if the new bonuses aren't on some pre-existing ship (ie, the new Bomber bonuses), is almost certainly impossible without code modifications. I could be wrong, but I also believe that EFT has been updated faster in the past than new data dumps have been given by CCP.
Originally by: X1376 @Grippen: I wonder if you could as a new feature introduce capacitor simulator. That capacitor stability state based on peak consumption and peak recharge rate is a bit rough. It would have good use for all capital pilots and sub-cap pilots will prolly better understand their ships.
All of those regen times you mention as uses can be calculated in a spreadsheet pretty accurately (ignoring the timing of mod use) based on ship cap, cap recharge time, and cap use. A general purpose cap simulator requires a new UI to deal with mod use and timing as well as the simulation engine itself - most ship fits that are barely cap stable lose that stability if all the mods cycle at the same time for example. Considering that this has been on people's wishlists since QuickFit quit being maintained, I doubt Gripen will suddenly decide it's something he wants to do just because your fleets are apparently being delayed by fits outside your own standards.

I have been using EFT for years now and really like the way it works - so well done - but can I make a request?
In the same way you have the firepower and defense sections on the right hand side of the screen that you can also have a "projected defense" section that would apply mainly for logistic ships - but infact to all ships that fit remote repair systems. Unless I am mistaken there is no way for example to see how much armour my guardian can repair per sec - or for that matter how much capacitor I can project - without doing the grunt work myself of course.
Anyhoo - keep up the good work

@Calleb you can do this by drag&dropping the respective modules onto the projected effects of a second ship. you can than read the new defense values and the new cap regen in the ships stats you used to drop the modules on. ---- Ceterum censeo blasters need some tracking love |

Trust me, it is entirely possible :) File format is quite simple, I just didn't put enough effert in dissecting and enumerating it. And now I won't. With changes to SB it left only 2 ships for me to fly. Playing EVE with only 2? Kidding? EVE is attractive game, but not to that extent. I can find blobbing tools in more attractive form in other games. -- Thanks CCP for cu |

You can even drag modules to project effects on yourself :)
BTW, it works for almost every module, not only RReppers/Transfers. Web, sensor damp/boost, cap neuting, tracking link/disrupt - it all works. -- Thanks CCP for cu |

I personally do not go so far in guessing how looks EFT under hood exactly. So I will wait on Gripen update.

It is actually not so complicated at all and I even have such spreadsheet for my own need. However EFT could do it more precisely with timing of mods, where I do use just average consumption per tick to save myself that hassle with module timing. Can provide for Gripen if he would be interested in it.
BTW You are his official spokesperson voicing his decisions? 'cause I do not care much about your doubts. :P

Edited by: Soeniss Delazur on 21/04/2009 06:35:20 Has anything changed with the intuitive module search? Before I could start typing "x5" and it would display a list of modules at the bottom, narrowing down my search. Same goes with "j5"¦it seems. Now it just remains blank so I have to open the stasis webifiers list manually and get the x5 web myself.
I know I¦m lazy but it was a nice feature

Yes, something has changed. Gripen explained this in his post. New default length for searches is 3 characters. You can change it by modifying the config.ini line:
FittingPanel_MinSearchStringLen=3

for some reason the eft doesn't make the right changes for useing the covert ops cloaking device II for the nemesis whitch is a stealth bomber whitch the last patch of eve changed and gave them the use of that item this makes it frustrating while trying to do a set up for the nemesis when it keeps telling you that you dont have enough power grid and cpu

Awesome update, and thanks for it, but I think i've found a small error, and im not exactly sure whats going on.
In EFT my falcon (3x SDA IIs, 2x Particle Dispersion Projector I rigs, meta 4 racial jammers) says it has an 80km optimal, however on Singularity with the same setup and skills I'm only getting a 69km optimal.
Maybe some one knows what I'm doing wrong. Thanks!

Particle dispersion projector rigs aren't stacking penalized against signal distortion amps in EFT whereas they are stacking penalized in the game. |

This is just a little something I put together to save everyone a bit of pain and frustration doing it themselves.
Contained in this zip are 19 characters for EFT that are all set with max skills but are all labeled for different implant sets, such as a HG Slave set, LG Snake set, HG Crystal set and so on. 5 of the characters are labeled with 'Mindlink' and have their respective mindlinks inserted into them so that you can test gang boosters with those characters.
Primary Link: EFT Characters.zip
Secondary Link: EVE-Files - EFT Characters.zip
If this has already been done, my bad. If not, enjoy.

Not trying to be a bother, but any idea when EFT will take into account changes made to SBs? I love EFT. It's such a great tool. Unfortunatly now I'm freaking totally dependant on it :)

Yeah, I'm seeing the same over-optimistic view of the optimal range of a scorpion. I think there's a stacking penalty that's not being applied correctly for ECM range mods. |
