Edited by: Valandril on 21/07/2007 08:38:58 Saying that xml is out because eve now gives it via api is wrong. XML is transportation layer which one makes easier to sync applications with each other, ie u can explort skills AFTER skillplan to xml, and then u can load them in program that support it (quickfit ie) and u see exactly what u will get after skillplan. Same with ship export, export to xml will make mashing data between apps a lot easier so cut this bull**** about "omg xml is out coz ccp don't export to plain xml anymore", its alive and kicking. --- Nanananana, can't touch my sig ! |

Bump \o/
THREAD IN DIRE NEED OF STICKEH
Anyway...
One thing I'm kind of missing from Quickfit is how it would show the damage you can expect a missile to do factoring in skills/ship bonus/modules. It looks like it's doing that for drones, which is nice.

Really good program, for me a lot better then quickfit. Still need some tweaks and bug fixes but really good work. Keep it going.

Under the charge info it shows you the damages, you can then change a skill or add a mod the check the info to see how it effected the damage.
but yes the way QF listed the changes that your skills and mods made was nice.

Little bug regarding the window, haven't read every post yet but din't see tihs reported.
If I move it onto my 2nd screen (right hand side) then close EFT the next time it opens the window is somewhere off screen :/ I have to delte the config file to get it to reapear.
Great tool though, some nice features in it. -----

You can just edit the config file. You dont have to delete the file. ______________________________ Caldari blood. Gallente style. Minmatar Attitude. |

Great tool! Thanks mate.
But a function to print the fitting, for the players who need it as a shopping list, would be very nice.

I'll second the part that asks for an estimated cost of each module + ship. Even if I have to initially put in the values ... I'd be ok with that. I tend to be making the same ship (types).

beautiful tool... only thing I prefer in quickfit is the way it handles chance to hit (DPS) and the real-time caps are fun, though I usually only use it to find out how long I have before cap death, so I guess EFT has that covered

I've applied some temporary glue to this; we're doing a revamp of the stickies in Ships and Modules (finished SooN(TM)) and this will most definately be a part of one of those resource-stickies. Good work! :)

Brilliant. Absolutely fantastic.
Advantages over quickfit:
* Looks better. I hate that Java look, feels really unprofessional * Much easier interface, not only GUI but importing skills etc * SO MUCH FASTER OMG
That being said, QuickFit is obviously the father of all fitting apps now and ever to come and deserves a ****load of respect - where would we be without it

My friend has recently finished a BP webpage that can work out current costs using Eve Central - I imagine this is an XML feed of data, so that could be used to give fairly accurate current price costs. (Otherwise I wouldn't have suggested it).
I still vote for using the raw Eve DB dumps for the fittings, that way you can guarantee that all mods are there, and that there are as they are in game, even if the game ones are wrong.

I recon the raw DB dumps have a lot of crap in them that's not actually availiable in-game, quickfit had a few such items.

Where I can import character data from XML file? And any chance to fix icon rendering for operating systems other than WinXP?

a feature to export setups as HTML would be really great. i prefer this over QFit.
I did notice that some of the implants were missing. I had a look in the export and found the implants in the invtypes table, they have a groupID of 300 (faction implants) and can also be found in groupIDs 738-750.
i apologise if you've already got these added but i prefer the way you have implemented implants than the way QFit has.
keep up the good work!

I had no problems with vista. Just right-click on it and set compatibility mode to Windows XP. Also if you have User Access Controll on, I suggest turning it off as soon as you can ;)
Now about the tool. I had time to play with it a bit more. So here is a list what (in my humble opinion) should be updated.
1) Cutting through the edge of Ship Configuration. It is bloody anoying. I think it might have to do something with widescreen monitors ratio. Can anyone confirm? 2) Modules description. 3) Tooltip should stay on.
Other than that it is the best tool so far.

This app helped me go from 620 to 1000 dps on my gank geddon. Also showed me how to better fit hyperions and megas. Really changed the way I fit ships.

Edited by: Xy Kintar on 25/07/2007 05:24:47 Edited by: Xy Kintar on 25/07/2007 05:23:50 I love the tool. but with 2.1 when I right click on the ship screen and select "change affecting skill" and select a skill to change, I always get the following error "Access violation at address 004a112a in module eft.exe. Read of address 0000037c". The program doesn't crash and the skill change does take place, I just alway get that notice.
This is running windows xp.

Ancillary Ballistic Screen Stabilizer I needs to be swapped out with F-S8 Relativistic Deflection Shield Induction I.
Looks like you have the passive kinetic and explosive shield hardeners swapped around.
