I have an odd bug report.
I am running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit.
Previously, I was running the Win 7 release candidate (32-bit), and had put EFT in C:\Program Files\EFT. Since I upgraded to 64-bit, I moved it to C:\Program Files (x86)\EFT. Since doing so, I hadn't been able to run EFT -- it would appear to start, and show on the taskbar, but the window just wasn't there.
I redownloaded and reextracted it to the same folder and the same thing happened. I moved it to the desktop and the same thing happened. I ran as an administrator and in Windows XP SP2 compatibility mode and the same thing happened.
In desperation, I extracted it to the desktop, and it worked. I renamed the directory in program files to the same as the archive name (EFT2.12.3) and it worked from there, too.
I don't think I've ever seen a program that depends on directory name to run properly.

I'm having issues enabling Faction/complex mods in EFT.
I see the 'buttons' and know to hold down <ctrl> when clicking, but they look faded, the buttons that is, and won't click.
any help please?

Is anyone else experiencing the following problem (forgive me for not looking through all 156 pages!)
I use EFT frequently, as I'm sure most of us do. I have a new laptop running Win7 x64. For some reason, EFT isn't saving any of my changes, be it fittings, character updates, implants etc. Occasionally, randomly, it saved some of what I do, but most of the time it's back to the stuff I had previously.

Win7 has much stricter default file system permissions than say XP. If you are running as non-admin (as you should), EFT might not be able to write files in it's current directory, depending on where you placed it. In that case explicitly give full access permissions on that folder for your user or the standard user group. Solved my problem with fittings not being saved.

First, let me say thank you for all your hard work :) Loved and used this program for many years.
But, I want to make one recommendation: Sort the ship-types in alphabetical order, please.
That would be such a large step for frustrating and annoyances that I would put my ISK where my words are for it.

Love the program and first bug i have ever come across and a pretty minor one at that.
Nanoelectrical Co-Processor: EFT= CPU +6.3% vs EVE= CPU +7.35% Nanomechanical CPU Enhancer: EFT= CPU +6.6% vs EVE= CPU +7.7% Quantum Co-Processor: EFT= CPU +6.9% vs EVE= CPU +8.05%
Basic Co-Processor & Co-Processor I are ok. I did not check anything not listed in this message.

You did notice the difference between - Nanoelectrical Co-Processor and Nanoelectrical Co-processor I etc right? Legacy EvE, there's a version without the 'I' and one with it for cpu upgrades, it's annoying and I don't think both types drop anymore (for years now), but, they are in the DB and certain old people have them still :P

some module types dont have faction or complex forms. Rigs, for example. make sure that you're using a module with faction/complex counterparts

I'm Sure this question as already been asked, but however I'm not THAT dedicated to go looking through all 158 pages to find the answer Q:How do I get the DPS graph to work, when I open it all I can see is a big grey spce on the left with "No graph selected" and "Traversal 0m/s" at the bottom and a white box on the right and then, underneath two scales for increasing/decreasing velocity named "Traversl Contribution". I know I'm supposed to add my ship and another one but I don't know how... Please heeeelp!

Never mind the Fuel Catalyst. You managed to fit all the wrong rigs! Flare rigs for heavies?? (you'd need Rigors for it). Those rigs would be useful for HAM's. In fact, ... you just changed a HAM fit to heavies, didn't ya? :) Just buy a new Tengu for heavies, and rig it properly. -- Gorgeous, delicious, deculture! |

Did u use Implants with EFT? That was a problem that i had have in the past. so i removed the implants from EFT and everything works well ;)

FYI, another issue I came up with is that the tier 2 command ships, give bonus as there was the mindlink pluged in. Like a Vulture with siege warfare links normaly gives a 12,somthing % ingame and in EFT gives you a 23,something % just like you have the mindlink implant. Sames goes with Damnation. :)
On the other hand, EFT is the best tool atm and it rocks!! Keep it up :D

Edited by: Seriously Bored on 26/04/2010 00:32:07 Hey Gripen. There is some new research (or rather, old information being calculated properly for the first time I've seen) on how to properly show missile flight time.
One of the few remaining, and longstanding, gripes about EFT left is that you can never actually hit at the maximum range that EFT quotes on missiles. Take a look at the following post (copied here) for the legwork. You may want to test it out:
Originally by: Alsyth
If this link is right then here is the formula :
D_m = V_m * (T_m + T_0*[exp(- T_m/T_0)-1])
where : D_m : maximum distance reached (m) T_m : Missile flight Time (s) V_m : Missile maximum velocity (m/s) T_0 : 10^6/(M*I) (s) [Time constant, can be thought of as "Time to Accelerate", though it doesn't mean it reachs full speed within T_0] M : Missile mass (kg) I : Missile inertia modifier (s/kg)
For the above poster's Golem with Javelin, we have : V_m = 7487, T_m = 9, Inertia Modifier 1000 , Mass 1500, we have : 62,39 kilometers.
Guess it's right...
Edit : A little more information :
We have, for every Javelin torp, T_0 = 2/3 s.
And, if T_m >> T_0, we can approximate :
D_m == V_m*(T_m - T_0)
with above values, it gives... 62.39 kilometers too :) (in fact, error between the approximation and the real value is approximately (10^-6))
nb : EFT gives 67.4, which is exactly V_m*T_m
Also thanks to Ninetails O' Cats for starting the discussion in the correct direction.
ED: Please read the thread if you can. There might be more fine-tuning necessary, but I think it's the correct direction to go to get an accurate maximum missile firing range to show.

Anyone else notice a small margin of error (~20%) on calculated missile damage specifically on the caldari t3 platform?
Seems its overcalculating a value for kinetic missile damage (missile sub), probably something to do with the bonus or where its being applied. Either way, its clearly incorrect to the tune of aformentioned ~20%.
Play around see if you can get the same results I do. ____________________ Anonymous Alcoholics recruitment thread |

Double check those bonuses. A lot of Caldari ships (and the Tengu's Accelerated Ejection Bay, for reference) get 5%/damage per level to kinetic missiles. At level IV, that would explain exactly what you're seeing.
